Hi everyone, I'm Hannah Osorio, a first generation latina student in my family! I attend Biola University here in La Mirada, California. I am currently pre-med. I was so grateful to have found Studentcrowd and Biola. Aside from having counselors to speak to, I have learned that Studentcrowd is a perfect resource to have that will save you: time, money and a lot of going around (energy). If you are reading this I highly recommend diving into Studentcrowd and checking out Biola. As students, we need all the help we can get! Medical school whether its Medicine, Dentistry, etc.. is about four years and here you can find a variety of 4-year courses-combine this with an exceptional university like Biola, and you are setting yourself up for success. At Biola University we have an impactful Christian based community where by the time you graduate you will have more religious/spiritual insight than 95% of pastors all over the world in combination with a powerful degree of your choice.

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Good bedrooms but kitchen is quite small with no window, management is very good.
Kitchens are ill equipped to support the number of students per floor. Room size is atrocious. I had a small room with en-suit, but that doesn't justify the price of £540 a month for living in what is essentially a cupboard.
Although this accommodation is slightly on the pricey side, it is perfect for your first year as you get settled in and the 24hr security gives you peace of mind. Not to mention you’re just a short stroll from the beach! The staff are always helpful and although there is no dedicated social space, the kitchen or hallway does the job. The only downside to this accommodation is that there are no windows in the kitchen which makes us super hot when cooking. But the rooms themselves are a decent size, with an amazing view of the beach/park, and you get a mini fridge in your room too! The bed is comfy, there’s just enough storage space (including under the bed), a nice desk area, and a step up en-suite. Not to mention you literally roll out of bed to the lectures. Perfect for first year.
Only communal space is a small kitchen - 6 stools for 10 people, 1 fridge 1 freezer, no windows
