We're happy for tenants to have guests at the property during the day. Our students have to come to the front door to let you into the building and to their rooms to ensure the safety of our other tenants. Tenants can also entertain guests overnight although they can only stay for 2 nights within a period of a week.

What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

The accommodation is fantastic! The staff are incredibly accommodating and are happy to chat whenever, about anything that is on our minds. The rooms are excellent, there’s no bright colours like other accommodations and they’re all laid out really well. I’ve moved from a shared flat to a studio flat, the shared flat was really amazing. The social aspect of the kitchen and the room layout meant that there was a lot of conversations and communication within the flat. This year, with my studio flat, I have moved in with my partner. Unfortunately we do have to pay a dual occupancy fee, which is something that is relatively new. But the support from the team is amazing, being able to accommodate both my partner and I. Overall, Coppergate is an amazing accommodation, I would recommend it to anybody!

Perfect location in city centre, very kind staff, bus stop with good conections right outside, the heater in the room is a bit useless, the blinds provided dont block enough light, but only 4 people in a flat this year, so a lot of privacy
We love our location too! So convenient when we want to pop out for a coffee! Sorry that you feel your heater isn't great. We try to be energy concious and so the heaters are on a thermostat and only come on when the temperature drops. Hopefully you'll feel the benefit of them as it starts to get colder now. Thanks for saying we're kind, we want to make sure that you're always comfortable and happy in your home.
It’s in a great location, the room is nice and spacious. Would be great if there was more social events on to be able to integrate with the other residents more easily.

The location is alright, there is a bus stop right outside the accommodation which would be amazing if the bus to Swansea university wasn’t every hour (and the one that does come is always full so you get turned away) this of course though isn’t the accommodation fault and we do have a bus station only a 6 minute walk away. The accommodation it self is okay, the rooms are nice and the bathrooms as well, but the best part that makes this accommodation is the staff, specifically Nina, Ben and Sarah, they always greet you with a smile and the conversation with them are amazing, they make you feel so comfortable and they put up with my constant deliveries! Honestly though any issues that I had I knew I could always go to those three and didn’t feel like it’s a burden and overall they just make living here that much better.

Reception staff are amazing so friendly and helpful maintenance not so much few things have been reported but not looked into walls were painted and paint was left on the floor.
Oh I'm so sorry that you've been disappointed by the paintwork. This was done by an outside company and they definitely should not have left anything here. We will be making sure that doesn't happen in future. Our maintenance man tries to get to every problem as quickly as possible although it sometimes take a little time. We do also have to wait on outside engineers unfortunately. I'm glad that you think of us as helpful and friendly and I hope that you'll continue to enjoy living here.
second year at coppergate and it's truly the best; they're able to accommodate from the start 'til end of the academic year. in terms of living space, coppergate has everything; en suite, a nice sized bedroom (with ethernet box), shared kitchen (or studio) and communal area. it even has a free washing machine and dryer in the kitchen at no extra expense, which not many other accommodations offer without the price hike. the staff are friendly and incredibly quick to respond - i've had maintenance reports attended to within the same day and the front desk staff (sarah and jody) are fantastic at getting to know you. there's complete privacy and considering the location (on the kingsway), there's little noise disturbance or privacy issues - you're notified well over 24hr before staff enters your room for an inspection. wifi is reliable and quick, above average download speeds. would proper recommend it to anyone looking for a budget friendly and welcoming accommodation.

The staff are quite friendly. Maintenance can take a little for the bigger appliances however 90% of the time maintenance will be done quickly. And compared to the other student accoms in swansea coppergate is one of the better ones (mostly for the washerdryer inside every apartment and helpful staff)

Unfortunately we sometimes need to ask engineers to come in and fix the bigger appliances and the speed that they can come in depends on how busy they are. We do have an on-site maintenance man who can help with the majority of things though. I'm so sorry that your experience at Coppergate has not been as you wanted. Unfortunately outdoor events such as playing films in the courtyard can only take place when the weather is reliable and we have had a dreadfully unreliable year. We have run various other events inside though, such as a Mad Hatter's tea party, a casino night and various breakfast giveaways. I do hope that these were things that you enjoyed instead. We do strive to organise things that everyone enjoys and hopefully the weather will be more on our side this coming year.
They have got a new piano, It looks really nice. I’m quite enjoying my living in here.

For the most part, it's good accomodation! My only complaints come with the shift from Prime Student Living to Mezzino - I imagine it's growing pains, but issues take a long time to get resolved now. Things like automatic doors breaking down, or amenities not being fixed in a timely manner. The other issue comes from the price - it went up 16% during the shift between management companies. It's still really good accomodation, and personally I think the best in the area, but there's improvement to be made in maintenance responsiveness, and the price is pretty steep now.
We're so sorry that you've been experiencing problems over the last year. Unfortunately there are times when we need to wait for parts or outside contractors to fix things, such as the automatic door, and there is not much we can do about the wait times connected to other companies. It is inconvenient though and I do apologise. The prices did rise after the change in company, however, due to feedback from you guys, the prices have been dropped dramatically! We now have a lot of rooms that are cheaper than most of the student accommodation in the city! We heard your complaints and acted on them. That's what we always endeavour to do and why your reviews are so important to us. We're so glad that you think we're THE BEST IN THE AREA!!! we can't overstate how much that means to us. We'll keep trying to improve though. We love our students to be happy!!
the accom staff make it so worth it and the location is great. only issues is one lift for the entire block a and it’s a bit spenny for what amenities you get. but honestly it’s still so worth it for the quality of staff and personal space size

The staff have been fab here any queries have been answered quickly. Our washing machine broke down and was replaced within a few days. A bit pricy at times but I think the amenities equal out nicely.

I do enjoy living here however the costs are just too much for someone living off of a student loan, but that is an issue students will face everywhere so overall it still is a good place to live

Rooms are really beautiful . The building is perfectly located with a short walk to town, bus station, and the train station. Receptionists are friendly and easy to talk to and solve things quickly. Lacks social spaces in comparison to other accomodations and is a bit on the pricier side but it is a wonderful place to stay and I'd recommend :)

Coppergate is super comfortable to live in and the location is perfect with shops, the beach, the bus station and the train station with a 10-minute walk. The staff is amazing super welcoming and warm. However, I do feel like the prices have been climbing up with not much being changed about the building which

I have lived at Coppergate for the past 4 years and have loved the experience. The staff are always wonderful and supportive, I could not fault them. However the recent change in company has had a drastic effect on the quality of the property: reducing the sociability of the property, the cleanliness has become poor and more and more so is the privacy of the student spaces is being invaded.

It means a lot to us. Transforming from Prime to Mezzino has meant some changes for staff and tenants alike, and we have been trying to find a new way forward together, merging our old ways with the new. Hopefully you feel things are settling down now. I'm unsure what invasions of privacy you're referring to but there are standard health and safety checks that have to be carried out in all rooms regularly. You're more than welcome to come and talk to us if there has been an incident in particular that you have been inconvenienced by. As for the social aspects of the building, we have some great news. We're in the midst of working out a new Mezzino social calendar to bring back some of those things we've all been missing! Keep your eyes peeled for posters and emails to give you more information! :)
Tenant of 4 years, building has been wonderful since moving in, until the last few months which massively changed my overwhelmingly positive sentiment regarding the buildings value for money and living conditions. Property manager is a wonderful lady named Nina that has been here since my first day. She is always available to help when and where she can, she’s fab.

Miss the student social events that used to be provided since moving on from prime student living there been no events and it’s unlikely that there will be. Just wish they would be brought back like treat days or bingo or quiz nights.
The change over from Prime to Mezzino has taken a little time to sort out but I have some great news for you, we'll be bringing back some of those treat days and social events that you've missed! We've just done an Easter egg hunt to win chocolate and are working on our social calendar for the next few months. Keep your eyes peeled for those posters and emails about upcoming events! :)

It is a nice accommodation, located in the heart of city centre. It has all the basic facilities with good maintenance culture. I recommend it to people with good taste for comfortable accommodations.
I am lucky to choose Coppergate for staying. It is one of the best student accommodation in swansea. It is located at the heart of swansea city centre and singleton campus is easily accessible. The staff is extremely friendly and they help you with everything that you need. It gives a feeling of home. The rules they set for tenants are practicable, nobody can harm you. It is a safest place to live.

I am using my review as a way to address another review I have seen below. Coppergate is right next to a bus station, as well as a bus line that takes you straight to Bay Campus or Singleton. Its a lovely 30 minute walk to Singleton if you cant get the bus for whatever reason. The comment about it being 'not managed well, contractors everywhere, people painting and a lift that never works' does not reflect my experience at all. There was one occasion where the lift was dropping which was resolved in the next week. I was only charged £10 off my deposit which is pretty well going considering a lot of student accommodations will find a way to keep their deposits. 'Parties banned' and 'threat of expulsion' was simply not true, I think the response from the building was for our own safety, there was no threat of expulsion.
Great place to live, good sized rooms and a nice social area. Dan and Nina are lovely & so helpful.
My experience in a nutshell was all round quite satisfied especially with location, various services and the newly built facility itself. However, as an international student, who had to cut short his stay due to the series of lockdowns, i wasn't happy with the refund on such special occasion.
Similar expense to St David's and bay with similar quality. Too far from both campuses to be worth it. Not managed well, contractors everywhere, people painting and a lift that never works. Left my room cleaner than when I arrived and still charged £30. Parties banned, nothing happening downstairs (covid) with threat of expulsion for allowing people into the building. Internet was good tho! :) same device on WiFi and ethernet counted as two devices tho :'( (big sad)
