The premium standard flats are tolerable, 2 bathrooms for 5 people, enough storage space in the kitchen and a hard couch with a nice smart tv, as for the rooms, you get a nice desk and that's about it, the mattress is hard, the rooms get super cold during winter and there's barely enough storage space. so if you like to get constantly woken up or disturbed by 1st years talking and smoking outside or your downstairs neighbours having sex or to listen to somebody's extremely loud music, then this is the place for you, my flatmates well some are great some aren't, honestly if you don't get along at all just ask accom if there are any other rooms available and maybe even go to whitendale, doors constantly slam and everything breaks all the time, the walls are paper-thin, also the awful magenta color in the living room is an eyesore, you're better off finding private accommodation

University of Central Lancashire (UCLan)
the flats run on the same wifi as the rest of the uni, which is laggy and unreliable, it often disconnects on my laptop and a lot of the time i have to wait a number of hours just to reconnect. of the two bathrooms in the flat, the big one has basically been unusable since we moved in (no hot water, broken lights, and most recently a leak which is causing a bug infestation that they won’t help with) leaving only one bathroom between 5 of us. there’s no ventilation in the little one and mold is growing on the walls due to the humidity. the rooms are tiny and the furniture is uncomfortable, the walls are paper thin i can hear my flatmate screaming at his computer all the time and there are constantly strangers coming through the flat (maintenance just let themselves in but everything is still always broken). only good thing i can say is that it’s right by the laundry and the smart tv is nice but that’s it. please don’t book ribble it’s a waste of your money i can’t wait to move out.

I stayed at a premium/standard accommodation and it was actually great. Big kitchen and living room, with plenty storage for 5 people, with board quite useful to communicate with your flatmates and organise the cleaning of general areas. Great location and close to the laundry room. Unfortunately, there isn't any social space. Good wifi connection and good value for money in general, but there are other good options for a similar price.
Facilities are great ,staff are helpful and social experience was amazing, only things I would say is the fact the sofa is really hard and not very comfy , would be better with cousins and also the bed mattress is not comfy you can feel the springs , I had to buy a mattress protector to add more layers apart from them I was very happy living here and there was more than enough space for all belongings
Ribble hall was the cheapest and i liked the hall because it was the closest to many buildings like Harrington, Greenbank and Brook. The one thing that I didn't like was the people who was in my flat who didn't clean up their own mess.
The location is the best since it has the laundry room right at the front! The facilities were the best as well I definitely enjoyed my time staying there :)
Honestly had a horrific time at Ribble Hall, new students please don’t stay here or at Uclan accommodation. Look around, there’s some lovely private halls with en suite for great prices compared to university owned halls. I had a flat full of people who had no concern for each other or the flat, it was grim. My room was cold and very tired. The kitchen smelt from day one of moving in. Pigeons used to like to try and get in cause it smelt so bad.
The location was very good: 5min to campus and 15min to town. I moved into the flat a few weeks after the start and the flat was a mess. However this was due to my flat mates, but I think the management could do regular checkups to make sure that everyone cleans up their own stuff. My room was not clean when I moved in, this is something the management team could do something about. Would also be nice if the kitchen was separated from the social space, because the range hood was very loud. Also the doors close very loudly, you’ll wake up in the middle of the night if you’re flat mate enters the flat
Ribble was extremely close to everything on campus but the prices are too high for what you are getting, single bed, shared bathroom and kitchen with no living room and no tv. Security were always complaining about mess. Toilets were in bad condition and well as bathrooms even before moving in. Never got deposit back either
Unfortunately I didn't have great flatmates but that's nothing to fault the halls with. The rooms themselves are nice, nothing too fancy and basic. However I did have an issue of when I moved in of parts of the walls being damaged and my mirror being cracked which weren't repaired during my residence however if you report it during inventory there's no problem. The main issue I had was the lack of sound insulation, you could hear the main doors for each flat block no matter where you were and more... Interesting... Noises travelled easily at night. You could even hear people going up the stairs from your room! There was also consistent problems with pigeons gaining entry to your room/kitchen even on the latched settings of your window. Although there isn't a lot the management can do about this it's worth knowing about beforehand. Location wise you can't get better in the halls, it's near all the key areas of the uni without being right in the busy areas so there isn't too much noise

It was okay but there is a massive pigeon problem they always come in your windows and then to make it worse they try and blame you for having your windows open and say you will be charged for cleaning if they find bird poo etc, but what are you meant to do in summer when it’s 28 degrees and you can’t leave your window open? It’s a joke. The security is so intrusive. And if you report things being broken sometimes they fix it sometimes they don’t. Even the hoover they give you is s***. For a fiver more per week we have our own gaff now with a yard and proper living room etc. Go Private or stay at home, trust.
Moved from whitendale to Ribble. Now that was a mistake. The sink never really worked properly. Always started to leak, and when I called someone up it was okay for a month and went back to leaking alot again. The walls are thin as ever as I can literally eaves drop any conversation my neighbor has and it makes me feel more insecure when I'm chatting to my friends online. The doors are terrible, as if you don't close them yourself, they end up slamming (it's kept me awake for many nights The sinks are unique, they spit out from each side and it's hard to just wash your hands. Internet is great on LAN, but that's it. Wireless it's terrible, and acts like a cheap WiFi eventhough it's a WiFi which can pull speeds of 90mb/s. On phone it's okay (WiFi wise) Beds are okay, but every night I have to pull it back because my pillows sink from the back of the bed. It can be annoying. The desk is great. It fit all my monitors and pc on too of it, space is great for the price too.
It would have been better if there was a common room.
Ribble Hall was the cheapest on campus, but thy're such nice halls. Our flat had two bathrooms and a big kitchen with a breakfast bar. It had a really nice view as well! Beds were comfortable, always hot water available and we had a nice patch of grass to sit on when it was sunny. Literally round the corner from the library and five minutes from campus/15 minutes from town. Would be nice to have a communal area other than the kitchen (sofas or a common room etc) but didn't really expect anything more for the money. Will be sad to leave!
