All really good, I am happy here, but one thing i don't like is the heating because it doesn't heat up your room properly, everything else is lovely that is my only complaint.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation

What tenancy length do I need?

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.

Should I stay in catered student accommodation?

This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.

What is a guarantor and do I need one?

A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.

Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?

Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.

What bills will my rent include?

If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.

What is purpose-built student accommodation?

Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.

Will my student accommodation be furnished?

Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Would not recommend, lived here for the 23/24 year, and I mean the location is the only good thing. Apart from that, not a good experience. Security are mostly useless. Overcrowded with up to 7 people in a flat and 60 flats, constantly loud music and noises where staff do almost nothing about it. Would not recommend if you want to keep your sanity lol.

This accomodation is not worth the price you pay, for the same price you can get much better accomodation such as friargate court (stayed few months and wished I stayed here in first year), IQ or Trinity student village. The first problem is the heater in the rooms,I found it extreamly hard to study in my cold room during the winter because the heater has a timer and it switched off every 10 minutes so I keep having to turn it on. Secondly the matress is so cheap it is extreamy uncomfortable to sleep in even after having a new matress. Thirdly the room walls are extreamly thin you can hear everything, and the main door to go out of flat slams so hard, when people are comming back to the flat at 3am you are woken up by them entering the building and the slamming of the door. The good things about the flat is that we have an ensuite and the kitchen is big with plenty of fridge and freezer space.

It's an okay place to live for your first year of study at UCLAN. I chose university halls to be around other first years in my first year but 3/7 of my flat mates were 3rd years and one of the 1st years had to change accommodation because the halls were too loud for her. When arriving the rooms weren't cleaned well, shower has poor pressure and drain clogs all the time. My sink was leaking which was fixed on the firat day but then someone else came the next day to fix it when it had already been fixed. The toilet flush didn't work and it took several months and multiple callouts for that to get fixed (that was a big issue). Kitchen issues got fixed quickly. Maintenance came to fix the pressure on my shower while I was out and a flatmate told me they said they were here to fix the temperature (which there was no issue with) which actually made the shower heat up slower then it did before. Really cold in the winter even with radiator on full blast. Probably wouldn't recommen to others.

The day I moved in wasn’t great. Under my bed hadnt been cleaned so it was pretty thick black dirt/dust which was even worse since I expected a full clean due to covid. Way too cold and the heaters don’t heat more than an inch away. They stay on for about 5/10 mins too. I have a bottom floor, courtyard facing room which isn’t great because there is a bench placed directly outside my window so if I have a light on and my curtains opened, I’m on show. It’s super noisy listening to people drink and play music on there at 3am. Wifi is 50/50. Can work perfectly scrolling through Instagram but decides to not exist when you FaceTime someone. Was missing a lot of the listed inventory that was on the website so save some money to buy the extras inn case you don’t have them in the room already. Too small and not Aesthetically pleasing for £108 a week. 2 mins down the road is a private block of flats at £70 a week and double the size/space

I’ve moved in to Roeburn for the 19/20 academic year. Over the summer the halls have had a refurbishment, so the older reviews mentioned are definitely out of date. The mattresses are just regular mattresses, no better than the ones you have at home but not worse - I sleep wonderfully in my bed. The beds are no longer metal, they are wooden and look nice in the room. The wardrobe is spacious and there’s a large desk with 4 drawers. The radiator is simple and works with a simple “touch to turn on” process, it heats the room up very quickly and goes off on a timer after a while, which is good because you won’t wake up sweating in the night. There is quite a significant amount of noise, as in banging or the trains going past, although you get used to it very quickly and you won’t acknowledge that the sound is there soon enough - my flat mates have no problems with the noise, we have been able to get to sleep and sleep fine. I am really happy living here, it’s really cosy.

Stayed here in my first year and the rooms were nice. A little cold in the winter bc the heating method was kinda s*** (radiator you have to click on yourself when you wanna use it, often woke up freezing and made it very hard to get up for 9ams).

Very expensive per week for what you get, wifi is patchy but Ethernet is good. Took them 2 weeks to fix our kitchen light. On site laundry is convenient but again expensive for what you get. Rooms are decent size, not much wardrobe space, on suite bathrooms are good. Water pressure is awful but that’s to be expected.

Living here has been awful (currently writing this from the yellow block) they put on a facade when you visit to imply rooms are comfortable and even have better mattresses in the viewing rooms. The truth is that you'll be in a room that hasn't properly been cleaned as it is full of dust, there are sh*t stains in the toilet, hair clogging the sink and shower drain (not fun cleaning that out myself!!). The bed is old and uncomfortable, with loud springs that take forever to come back up so you may get jabbed in the back at any moment. The walls are extremely thing so you can here noise in your room from your kitchen your flatmates rooms your neighbours all around you and the stairway. But don't worry if you have a problem the management system will ignore you till you ask them a minimum of five times but if its a problem with a flat mate stealing from you they don't care. Also when you move in expect people to be coming into your flat without warning as they don't warn you for months.

If you want to live somewhere where you feel demented every waking hour of the day, then come to Roeburn! Currently being charged £99.50 a week to live with constant noise from others until 5am in the morning not just in flat but above and next door. For £99.50 you get a bed which feels like your lying on stones, maintenance issues that takes weeks to be resolved. The main problem is Halls management and security. They are absolutely useless and have been seen outside halls and not doing anything about noise and are rude to the students. It doesn't seem to matter the number of times somebody gets warned about noise nothing gets done. The contract you sign up with is used in their favour but they don't stick to what they promised to do. Flatmates are also a problem with no cleaning, stealing food and being a general nuisance. Don't live here!

For £98 p/w I'd like a comfier bed and a better shower but it'll do. I'm unfortunate that I live with messy people but when the cleaners come round they do their best! Other than that, everyone gets on well and prinks are made that little bit better with our big communal area!

At Roeburn you're only paying £2 less a week compared to IQ, that £2 a week means you won't have hot water in your room, you'll have smaller rooms, smaller beds, a kitchen with what is essentially a non-existent living room area with terrible, uncomfortable chairs and a much less comfy atmosphere which feels very corporate in comparison. I spent most of my time at my mate's flat in IQ because it was so much more comfortable to live in. Oh also the laundry system at Roeburn is shocking, most of the machines break/take your money and they only take change meaning you have to spend pointless money to get your laundry done and it's a massive pain. I wouldn't recommend Roeburn if you go En-Suite, it's probably the worst option.

- Absolutely zero cleaning service for the stairwells/communal areas - Slow repairs. - Large, open courtyard helps give a really social environment - Great location no more than 5 mins from any lectures - Train noises can be a pain at first but you get used to them

Roeburn served me a great experience, it is a little pricey but it is in the city, right next to the library and in the centre of the campus. I shared with 6 other people (7 in the flat), on the top floor, the flat did get messy really easily as it was off putting to bring down the bins. But overall it was an OK experience, everyone is free at different times so I never got close with my flatmates. The rooms are lovely and cosy! It is very handy to have your own bathroom. Make sure you clean it as much as possible, to avoid fines from the halls inspectors.

Value for money, absolutely not. When for a few more quid you can rent student flats with dishwashers and carpet, this is far from value for money. Location was the only good thing about uni halls, getting up 10 minutes before lecture is the best thing ever. Halls management was usually on par with everything and quick to respond, just a nightmare when it comes to dealing with antisocial flat mates. Cleaning was generally poor. The stairways were cleaned once a week, and our flat communal area has been cleaned once in the whole year. Communal areas are dingy, uncomfortable, they have small tables and little storage space for food and pots etc. Social experience was good, many flat parties despite they are banned. Also nice courtyard for socialising when the sun comes out.
