It’s an amazing accommodation and so cheap for what it offers. The manager Massy is lovely and always helpful. She’s possibly the best manager I’ve had. I would recommend these studios over the many others.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Wifi issues since arriving in September. Otherwise no issues.
The rooms are spacious and lovely. Most of the essentials are provided.
At the start of the year there was a temporary manager who did their best to maintain the building but pretty soon a new permanent manager Massy was brought in. The new manager was at first ill-received as communications between her and the residents were scarce but she soon started to reach out and made a (at first firm but mainly) friendly approach (which does work for her). She has been excellent at communicating potential issues and getting things sorted around the building and has boosted social interactions. 2023 has been an amazing year here, I cannot recommend enough for the storage and the fact you have your own kitchen, though the fridge is small and the freezer even smaller. They brought in countertop ovens this year which does fit a medium pizza, or a large if you cut it. One thing I will say is you have to get up and then down a hill whenever you want to go to uni, but the uni is at the top of a hill anyways so if you don’t like it get an electric bike or something.
Very well priced for lovely rooms and a great social environment.
Incredible manager Massy has alway been helpful and kind and resolved problems. You can't beat room size and storage in plymouth. But the doors are thin so noise does come through the corridors very easily.
Massy was a great manager and always sorted issues when they arose.
Management makes it easier to settle with a warm and sweet demeanour, a home away from home
It’s an amazing accommodation and so cheap for what it offers. The manager Massy is lovely and always helpful. She’s possibly the best manager I’ve had. I would recommend these studios over the many others.
Excellent accomodation, very spacious rooms (best value for money in Plymouth) and many bus stops right outside the door.
Great community feel here. Compared to some other halls it's not that big so its quiet. Really big studios with loads of storage, a great roof terrace and there's room on the ground floor that you can use to play pool, watch netflix or study. Common areas kept clean and any maintenance issues dealt with quickly by on site manager.
Having lived here for two years now, Marc (the old manager) was the reason I stayed, he made it so friendly and created such a positive vibe in the building. Unfortunately I can see it already going down hill under new management, thankfully the rooms make up for this with the amount of space and storage - 100% recommend for the room, not so much the rest.
If it wasn't for me being lazy and not wanting to walk up a short hill everyday, and lack of parking facilities I'd stay here for my entire university life. The wifi can be intermittent but LAN cable works wonders. The accommodation is very spacious and lots of facilities in the room. The roof is amazing for party's or star gazing. The social room is mostly always bubbly, but people are respectful if anyone is in there studying. You cannot hear any of your neighbours through the walls no matter how loud they sound when you walk in the hallway! The Facebook chat is so supportive too. Marc has been absolutely outstanding. This place had really been turned around. Nothing is too big or small. If you have a fault they will fix/replace it immediately. I'm going to miss this place!
Very friendly house! Spacious rooms and great price. Any issues dealt with promptly by the manager Marc who went out of his way to help. Nice social space with pool/table tennis/TV with Netflix. There's also a gym, bike storage and a rooftop terrace! Rebooked for next year.
2 years here and it's pretty chill. Kind of don't want want to go
I’ve had no real issues living here and any small problems were solved quickly (i.e., broken light, no hot water). The rooms are so so spacious and light with a huge desk area and loads of storage/shelves. The walk to uni is mostly up hill which isn’t ideal for early lectures or rainy days but there’s a bus stop just over the road if you’re feeling lazy! My room is on the back of the building and despite the railway being close it’s never been an issue… can barely hear it with the windows closed. If I wasn’t in my final year I’d definitely be booking again! :)
A clean(in the common areas), quiet and safe apartment building with a large variety of property options and some good lease options (short or with summer). Staff are friendly and there are some events with seasonal decor in common areas. Trasnsport links are good and the in-building facilities are adequate. There’s a nice quality bike store and gym but poor washers and dryers. WiFi was usually okay but so slow at peak times you can’t so much as check your email. Issues lie with previous management (now replaced) preventing/ignoring maintainece concerns and contractor advice. No new build should have private areas/rented rooms so mould and hole ridden or so filthy upon move in. Problem solving is completed either quickly if you nag or at a backwards snail pace if you leave it. Thankfully, the maintenance crew themselves are efficient and nice. Conc: worth it for a year for space&quiet as I had the confidence to tackle management. Wouldn’t return with price and value differen
Not uncommon for water to be turned off completely and for leaks to occur. Today there has been no water for hours - with no email from the manager regarding what is going on
So amazing ! Love the amazing atmosphere, brilliant common area, great value for money, wouldn't want to be anywhere else 🥰
Very nice accommodation , modern common room and gym , great way to make friends, helpful management, big rooms
Spacious rooms with lots of storage available (shelves, cupboards and under bed). As the rooms are white, you can bring any colour to your room and it will match. 15 min walk to the Uni so good for getting your steps up. If you do not fancy taking a walk, there are bus stops right by the building that can take you to the top of Mutley/into the town centre so convenient. Close to a Tesco and Aldi, as well as plenty of other shops/pubs/etc along Mutley Plain. Management is friendly and quick to deal with any issues you have. I have had no issues whatsoever. Social spaces are available for you to chill with others (roof terrace and common area). Kept clean and tidy and fairly spacious with seating. Despite having your own studio/space, the opportunity is there to socialise with others and make friends. Internet is relatively good, only had a couple issues but the provider is usually quick to act.
I’ve really enjoyed my first year here, all my issues were fixed promptly when asked and it’s been super independent. Definitely the best value for money in plymouth!
Loved my stay at St Augustine’s, a little far to walk to the uni (There’s a shortcut that isn’t up a hill thankfully, but in the really hot summers and days with more rubbish weather it’s not brilliant) but is within very close access to Aldi, Sainsbury’s and lots of other shops like Boots (which is also a pharmacy), Superdrug etc around a ten minute walk so no need to travel all the way into town/Drake’s Circus. Accommodation itself is nice for the price you pay, usual problems of student accommodation with water/things in the room breaking, but all have been sorted incredibly quickly, and the majority of rooms are clean and free from damp/mould. Showers are pretty good for student accommodation, and whilst the kitchen is lacking an oven, it’s incredibly spacious despite its small size Overall, the best thing has got to be the insane amount of storage space in the rooms, I never felt stuck for space, the only place lacking space is the wardrobe, but plenty drawer space
Room is fantastic, almost never have the need to leave it which makes booking for a third year all that more easy Love love love the care and attention to not only fine detail but also that we get the best and make the most of our stay and feel welcome. Welcome in the sense that whatever we may need or care to ask or enquire about, the manager makes sure to deliver and is always attending to a multitude of issues. However he makes it all so effortless by ensuring everything is a priority.
A friendly and welcoming building. Marc (the building manager) is always on hand to help and makes sure the building is always in tip top shape.
Very welcoming staff. Any issues gets fixed within 3 working days. Room is very reasonable size and price. Would stay again!
Modern style, spacious studio flats. A great location with tesco express right next door and walking distance from the University and city centre. The management of the building is great, any issues are promptly resolved and they are happy to deal with any of your concerns. Thoroughly recommended to any student wishing to live independently.
Really big rooms, lots of storage. Very well managed, would recommend to anyone.
Nice Accommodation with big rooms.
Good building for students who would like there own space. Management are great and very efficient as well as friendly and welcoming
I’ve been here for 2 years now and I’ve enjoyed my time here very much. It’s a very homely place and managed well. Very good value for money and very spacious. Useful, especially for first year
Generally a great place overall
Keep getting rid of the good staff and bringing in worse! Really awful atmosphere, makes you feel like you are back at school. Issues take ages to fix as manager focuses on things that are irrelevant. Rooms are nice but unless you plan to stay locked away or arent too fuseed about the leaks or issues, i would strongly recommend you book elseqhere and save yourself some money.
