I am in an ensuit in the Robbins Halls. In regard for only doing 4 stars for the price, this is due to a number of problems that have taken a long time to get solved as well as the relatively small kitchen and living area in comparison to cheaper rooms. The location is very good, being only a couple minutes walk away from the university and less than 5 minute walk away from town. All issues mentioned have all been sorted out quickly and efficiently except from one. This was the hall light that did, and still does not turn off at all. The cleaners come over once a week and are very thorough, even moving things out of the way, despite not being required to do so. As stated above the social space is very small and we struggle to have more than three people sitting at the table at once. I would not mind this so much but it seems slightly unfair that people paying almost £40 less pw have more space than us.

Since I’ve been here it’s been ok, nothing spectacular happened. There has been a few competitions and free stuff for certain things. The oven sometimes burns things but other than that; Robbins halls is close to the university in and kinda in the centre of the City.

You very much get what you pay for but the community of people created through living here is definitely the best. Balconies and courtyards allow for interactions between buildings and the flats are always a fun mix of people. The accommodation team also hold regular events and free giveaways which are always popular.
AVOID .most if the maintenance team are rude and unhelpful. We had MICE in our rooms and kitchen they made very little attempt to fix it only putting gone mouse trap when the males reported it . Very dismissive when the females in the flat reported it. Kitchen fuse tripped regularly and was barely functional. May cleaners were very rude.
Robbins has 14 blocks and is a great place for socialising, sadly I was in M block and this is the furthest away from all the courtyards so not much of socialising. The kitchen is tiny compared to others I’ve seen. I’ve seen a bigger kitchen in Pilgim that was for three people!! They even had a sofa and we all couldn’t fit around the table in ours! Rooms are alright size, but get like a prison the fact I could see the bricks just painted white! Location is perfect. In the middle of all accommodations, easy walking distance to uni and other clubs.
Robbins are the best halls for the money if you plan to socialise in other halls every single time you want to go out or have a good time. Social space is non-existent unless you count the balconies which are the only redeeming features of this accommodation in my opinion, especially if you're a smoker. Kitchens are small and cramped, the en-suites are dirty and in dire need to refurbishment and don't be surprised when your weathered mattress pops out a spring or two into your back in the middle of your first night. I would highly recommend you look elsewhere if you have the choice, as there are much better halls for a similar or slightly higher price, and you will more likely have a better first year experience than other people and I have had.
Very loud at night because of the busy street, but it's close to the uni and has a laid back environment.
I enjoyed my time in Robbins however the kitchen was too small and was the only place we had to socialise in our flat. Also didn't have a table so we ended up using an unreliable ironing board most the time. Rooms were good, if a bit on the small side. Location wise Robbins is perfect. I could walk to campus in around 1 minute. Also very close to the city centre. The wifi is the worst thing I have ever experienced, it dropped out constantly and I was always draining the data on my phone because of it but apparently the company that provide it is being changed it should be better next year. As a whole Robbins is a good halls and I made loads of new friends.
If you love to party and want to have a great first year university experience then robbins is for you! Most of the people are pretty relaxed and you can make some great friends whilst living here. If you don't like music playing all day everyday then this probably isn't the place for you. The RA's can be pretty annoying with telling people to keep it down constantly but get along with them from the beginning and you should be good. Robbins has the availability of en suites as well as shared bathrooms (which isn't as bad as you would think). Its definitely worth the extra couple of £ rather than living in Gilwell which is same sex halls, fire alarms nearly everyday and getting called the ghetto. Robbins gave me a great first year experience, so worth it, wouldn't have changed anything.
Value for money is completely dragged down by very slow wi-fi however, this is 'being fixed' for the 2016 entry. There are no real social gathering spaces inside a flat other than the kitchen area but I've never had a problem with that because there are bars just down the road. You are literally right next to the university for those early morning get ups and right next to pubs and clubs for those late nights. Cleaning is thorough .
I loved my time in Robbins, such a social atmosphere and there was always events that gave you opportunities to meet new people who lived there. It's located very close to town and right on campus, as well as right next door to Gilwell, Pilgrim and Radnor Halls and many bars (ideal location!)
My experience was amazing but because of who I was in a flat with. The rules are stupid and nobody has a clue what they were doing. Health and safety was not carried out correctly and we received the blame. Also give out extraordinary fines for little things that mean you're paying £50 each for not emptying a glass bottle bin! Close to uni, but vile, absolutely vile inside, the top skylight rooms felt like a prison. And absolutely no chilling area just a stupid breakfast bar with some plastic stools. Brilliant

Robbins the is a simple hall but has everything a student needs in first year. It has large courtyard spaces for social activities and also a lecture theatre underneath which is used for activities such as movie nights. It is an overall 10/10 for first time fresher experience.

Honestly, best value for money halls! best on-suit out of everyone's flats i've seen. some rooms have there own balconys and although rooms arnt big, they are spacious enough. The only down fall is there is a kitchen with a table to chill around and you can get a good 20 people about for decent pre's but not actual communal space out of the kitchen.
Only complaint is that there is no kitchen table or seating areas
I pay £98 a week, which for halls is okay. Robbins is very sociable, arguably the bet placed halls on campus. The cleaning is rubbish, but we do that ourselves anyway. Overall love it here and would recommend to anyone, hopefully you don't get RA's like we do!
The only social space is the kitchen which proves problematic if you want people over. However as one of the cheaper halls, you expect to compromise. Our cleaner is lovely and always does a fab job! Cannot fault her at all. On the other hand though, there is a silver fish bug infestation which was here before we arrived as light fittings were holding them. They aren't a huge problem but it's still not nice. The bedrooms are a nice size as are the bathrooms and removing the bugs, it's fab honestly. The fact a lecture theatre is literally part of your halls makes 9ams so much easier! The location is perfect in regard to uni and all the clubs so it's actually ideal :)
For £103 a week it's not too shabby, rooms are a good size, you have to share bathrooms which once you get to know your flatmates is fine, my flat had a pretty decent sized kitchen and a balcony, but other than that there wasn't really anywhere to socialise apart from in your rooms or outside in the courtyard. There's no lifts so if your on one of the higher floors you'll be getting some pretty decent leg muscles.
The halls system has set me up with people like me and I love my flat facilities.
My personal university halls experience was a highly enjoyable one. The halls I chose to live in, Robbins, were some of the cheapest yet despite this never came across as being such. The maintenance of the halls by the tirelessly working staff helped make it a highly pleasant experience, and it's location quite literally across the road from the university campus made it ideal for me as a student, as I was able to aptly prepare for the days lessons without having to worry about rushing to class by any given time, so for me personally this was spot on. Without becoming too crude whilst still providing an apt description, the social aspect of university life Robbins halls provided was one of the best experiences of my life. It was able to combine the atypical university bucket list features such as social gatherings for nights out and block parties, with other positives such as the close proximity helping to create a real sense of community between the students. A truly great experience.
The wifi is fine, as long as you're using an Ethernet cable, don't expect to ever get anywhere if it's wireless.
Get what you pay for. Location is perfect, next to uni, shops and bars. Could do with better social spaces

Proper ledge nights out here, you like some cheeky banter? Well Robbins is the place for you my lad.
Robbins is very basic. It only has a breakfast bar with stools in the kitchen and so socialising in there for a long period of time can become uncomfortable and we ended up sitting on the floor. Unfortunately there are no common spaces in Robbins and so the kitchen was our only option. Despite this we still socialised a lot with the other blocks as the way they are laid out with the balconies means it is easy to communicate between flats. The bedrooms in Robbins are a little bigger than in some of the more expensive accommodation as they have a larger kitchen and social area that takes up the space. As I said, very basic but I wasn't expecting anything more from student accommodation. It didn't take anything away from my experience and I would definitely recommend it.
I loved Robbins! It's so close to campus, town and nights out and jakes is on your doorstep for your drunk food after a night out!
I was in the top floor of T block, brilliant value for money :) The RAs and the chance to socialise is a bit poor though.

Cheap and cheerful! Good maintenance team but the cleaners can be finicky about kitchen fines. Wish there was a social space and lifts- so many stairs!
£103 a week to live in a shoebox...
Robbins halls was a great experience for me, the lack of common and social spaces not an issue because whenever we get drunk, we would pre drink in the kitchen.
Good accommodation overall, the shared area flats have good sized rooms and the kitchen is well equipped. However, the bathrooms tend to be a bit grotty and get really stuffy after someone's showered (lack of windows/vents). Our kitchen has an adjoining balcony which allows us to open the kitchen out when its particularly hot, but would prefer a bigger kitchen with a kitchen table. Cleaning services are sometimes a little questionable, as sanitary bins are labelled as being emptied every day but are only emptied every term. A positive is that Robbins is literally 2 minuted from uni, so a quick, easy walk to and from lectures, with Aldi, town and a co-op all nearby. However, because it is on a road shared by 3 other halls (Gilwell, Radnor and Pilgrim), it can be quite loud at night times, making it difficult to sleep at night. Overall, Robbins is great value for money if you're on a tight budget, but if you can afford Pilgrim/Radnor than I would go there.
If you are looking for a shared bathroom Robbins is a good choice, If you are looking for an ensuite look at the other options, pretty much the same cost and much bigger, nicer and newer.
There is no living space, only kitchen with plastic chairs, which doesn't really work as a social area, we do however have plenty of space as the the kitchen has a balcony too!
Love the architecture of this hall, and how close it is to uni and the shopping mall. Halls are relatively expensive but we got cleaners and stuff, though things in the flat broke easily like the door handles and boiler and stuff. All the doors are so heavy and bang shut so loudly which is kind of annoying. And living in here could ensure you get good night's sleep cuz parties cut after 12 you have to go somewhere partying not in halls
Good value, great location, quick to dish out fines and not many shared social spaces. But great for meeting people which is the most important thing.
Grimy, falling apart and infested with silver fish.... And that was before we moved in. The kitchen light wouldn't turn on and the grill smoked profusely as soon as we moved in, reported both but both were seen as not important enough to be fixed , so every night I eat my dinner in the dark as the light is above the eating area, I therefore moved my lamp from my room to the kitchen and study in the dark. We were robbed by people climbing up our balcony, they stole a chair off our balcony, which we will now be fined for, even though we were assured when we moved in people.couldn't climb up due to anticlimb paint. luckily our balcony doors were locked because they did try it! The RAs are useless having not rexieved our posted for weeks and weeks at a time. The ventilation systems in both the bathroom and kitchen do not work. The rooms coming off the balcony are extremely cold at night because of the draft through the door. Serious lack of plug sockets. the Hoover's stinks
Would be great to have a common room or a communal social space of some sort!
