Living in block 5 facing the residential street is so nicely quiet, the rooms are generally bigger than a lot of the newer "refurbished" (as if) halls, and the whole place is pretty clean. However, the shower has low water pressure, and we've have multiple problems with electrics and hot water. Plus there's no lift so have fun walking up all those stairs if you live on top floor.
it was good yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
The halls are definitely to a high quality but I feel like it isn't worth the amount you pay, people pay for student houses which are much bigger and pay less. However, although the rooms are small, they are a good quality and serve the purpose, there's a big desk which is very useful and lots of storage. Although, the bathroom is lovely, there is only a small gap between the shower and the rest of the floor, meaning lots of water is splashed on the floor. The only main problem with the rooms is if you're facing the courtyard as there always tends to be a lot of noise at night from other blocks. All of our problems are sorted as soon as we call maintenance and they get back to us really quickly. We only have a kitchen for a social space but it is big and homely feeling, brand new kitchen was fitted this year. Would be nice to have a small front room or something to better socialise with flat mates!
Not a pleasant halls to live in due to poor refurbishment in most kitchens, of which are the only indoor social areas. Infestation of silverfish is an ongoing issue and makes living in the flat quite unbearable, likewise does the noisy pub opposite. Very expensive for what is offered, all-in-all would not recommend.
Go to Discovery Heights or St Thomas they are much more modern and sociable (they have sofas in the kitchens, separate common areas and DH doesn't have a kick-out time for pre drinks). Also less £. DH is closer and St.T is not much further from the uni.
Wifi was terrible on phones and laptops. Through the Ethernet cable to a PC was good though. Reliability of appliances was awful with lights going and fridges. The management were always good though at fixing it straight away. Rooms are very poorly furnished for what you are paying. It was in a good location with co op 1 min walk away. However, the walls are very thin, so you can hear a lot, and is terrible if people are getting ready to go out, you'll need ear plugs if you want to get a good sleep. I was sick of hearing people go out all of the time, just go to the cinema or something, so weak if you can only have fun by drinking alcohol. Lol good luck in the second year when you actually might have to work, hope all your stupid socialising was worth it when your disappointed with your first year results, you go to uni to work not to make stupid 'friends for life'.
waste of money but you will have fun
Perfect location for uni and for the local clubs. Majorly social halls and a well built building
Amazing location, excellent sized kitchen. Not too big of blocks so it's very socialable, I literally love it here.
Best location and excellent sized kitchen. I felt safe here and the social side is amazing, would highly recommend.
Radnor was easily accessible, in perfect location to uni, clubs and food and was so big there was always people to make friends with
Great location with everything important near by. Can be noisy with passers by and other pubs in the evening but no massive deal.
Always friendly staff members to fix problems and was in a great locations with a very social atmosphere.
I think it is super overpriced, but at the same time I'm having an amazing time at Radnor. The rooms are a decent size, and my kitchen is big (although I know some are smaller than mine), it is right next to the uni as well :) However, the electricity in our rooms regularly cuts out, which is really annoying, but I have't heard of any other flat having that problem. Anyways, I really like it, although I wish I had been put into Robbins as it is more affordable (and I don't mind that it looks like a prison)
Very good location for the uni and social life. Surrounded by many other halls so is very easy to get to know people
The bathroom wasn't so good look and quality wise and used to flood into my room everytime I showered
I didn't feel entirely comfortable in the halls. The communal area was very basic and there wasnt enough space for the whole flat to sit and eat together. I made great friends here though and it was a great location.
Good social halls with courtyard, but poor reliability with appliances etc. Also, very poor internet service and mostly slow postal service from RAs.
Great location, however place was a state when we moved in and silver fish infestation, management are normally good.
Good value for money in comparison to other halls. Basic but nice and a great atmosphere. Perfect location! Noise from neighbourly pub and building site however is extremely noisy and starts at 8! It is extremely unsettling and at times sleeping is found far too difficult.
Nice halls but a lot of money for what you get. Could go for halls with an actual social area for just a couple of pounds a week more!
Really noisy, pub plays music till 3 in the morning and there is building work going on all day. Wasn't given any warning about it. Really expensive for what we had, everything kept on breaking throughout the year however the people in charge of the halls were good at fixing everything but none of it should have broken originally. One of the only good things is the location being less than 5 minutes from the university, Co-op is a 1 min walk away abd town is only 5 minutes too. Close to the night life.
Great location, but very small kitchen with only one small fridge and one small freezer to share between 6 people. Cleaning staff are great. Would like to have sofas/a common room, as nobody really talks to the other flats in the block. It's very expensive for what we are getting (£130/week), especially with being woken up at 8am every morning by the building work right outside the window.
too much money for what you get, the kitchens are tiny with no one to sit around and hang out. Compared to other halls at the same price it's ridiculous! feel like I should get some of the money back that I've spent on this accommodation
