So expensive, charged £96 for being locked out once, had a £500 deposit and only getting £75 back, even though I cleaned before I left there were minor wear and tears but I got charged for the smallest things such as some stains in the microwave, which are bound to happen from using it, and dust along the blind. My friend got charged £96 for setting a fire alarm when there was no smoke from her cooking at all. And the fire alarm would constantly go off in the middle of the night sometimes for over an hour. Would not recommend for anyone. Charge £170 for cleaning, even though cleaning should be done between each tenant. Charged me and my friend different prices for the same thing. They clearly just wanted to get loads off money off students.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation

What tenancy length do I need?

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.

Should I stay in catered student accommodation?

This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.

What is a guarantor and do I need one?

A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.

Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?

Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.

What bills will my rent include?

If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.

What is purpose-built student accommodation?

Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.

Will my student accommodation be furnished?

Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Usually you associate Nottingham with robbing from the rich and giving to the poor, but at Boulevard Wharf it’s quite the opposite. Absolute money grabbers. You won’t find any genuine reviews for this place on Google because the owner just deletes them. SO many fake reviews, either by staff who work there or by bots. It’ll say ‘5 star ratings from 1,342 students!’ but ironically that many people haven’t lived there yet, it’s a NEW build 🤣🤣 They charge £96 if your fire alarm goes off or if you’re locked out of your room. Stole my whole £500 deposit and had the cheek to try & charge an additional £144! Staff waltz into your room whenever they like, zero privacy or respect. I’ve spotted maintenance staff drinking & smoking on site late at night. This accom might look lovely and modern but all they care about is stealing your money. They take advantage of inexperienced student renters. Horrendous customer service from both Boulevard Wharf and Uni2Rent. DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!

Ridiculous had staff entered my room multiple times without permission, you have to pay £96 if you leave your key in your room and are locked out, lost my whole deposit because my mattress was ‘soiled’ despite me using a mattress protector and I kept the whole whole studio clean. Was charged a cleaning fee despite me cleaning it when I left yet was still charged a cleaning fee. Not sure what more I could have done. Don’t recommend!!

Don’t recommend living here unless you don’t care about money. My deposit was £500 and at the end of the year I got £75 back. They charged me £170 for cleaning, when I deep cleaned when I left. Even though it should be mandatory and not charged to students, I left my room as clean as possible and still got charged £170. My friend who also lived there, owes them money. We both cleaned our rooms before we left, leaving it in a live able standard. She got charged more than me for the same service. Honestly the company are just trying to get as much money out of you as possible. Go anywhere else and you’ll be better off, so money orientated it’s a joke. Charge £96 for any call out charge, fire alarm went off for hours, multiple times a week. My friend was cooking, no smoke or burning and her fire alarm went off for no reason and she was charged £96. Please do not move here, you won’t get your deposit back over the smallest things.
