Stayed in hall for three years (2014-2017) and had three of the best years of my life. Rooms very spacious, nice people, library good, JCR decent, formals good and hall food okay. Amazing location close to everything. Only room for improvement was bar was closed when I was there and JCR underused. This might have changed.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Good halls but no living room and outdated clinical room meant to be the halls communal room. The price has gone up as well so only go here if you can afford it. I had a great time but full of private school people. Food is good and catered means you can really get to know everyone and spend time with people everyday

AMAZING HALL! Had the best time here, particularly since I was in the old bit (all rooms are single study plus in the old bit) which had huge rooms. The common room was big with pool, table tennis, table football and sofas so it was great for parties and pres. Latitude, the hall bar, is brilliant. The hall gets so pretty around summer time and I couldn't recommend it more. Food in the dining hall is good too, although for a cooked breakfast you'll have to make the 1 min walk to Cripps. Dinner is served daily in Hugh Stewart.
Loved living in this hall! Almost all of the rooms are pretty big and there is a decent amount of socialising space. The location is the best there is for medical/science students, and is great for students of all other subjects too. It is one of the 4 halls that now serves a cooked breakfast (some other halls have to go to Cripps or a different hall for cooked breakfast). The staff are lovely and the food is good too. Great hall.
Good location but outdated rooms and very cliquey in blocks, nowhere to socialise apart from in corridors. Management often do the bare minimum and treat you like an annoyance with complaints.
Great hall, I've heard others are better. Choose self catered for an easy and sociable first year! Bring a suit for formal dinners.
Beautiful hall which is well looked after.
Loved halls, the social vibe was great, so pretty and clean most of the time, food got a bit repetitive by the end of the year tho
Eduroam wifi isnt the best and the hall food is horrible
02/12/17 Cripps Hall is a beautiful thing. The rooms are mostly en suite plus and are very spacious. You can tell that Cripps is the oldest hall on campus because the buildings have so much character. The library is very good. The food is better than you would expect, so long as you like corner yogurts (they appear on the menu at least 3 times a week). The JCR is basic and underused. The bar is a nice space to work or socialise with a pool table, however the actual bar which serves drinks is never open. Cripps also has a small (but free) gym with some basic equipment that may satisfy your needs. Cripps is ideally located and the closest hall to most campus buildings. Everyone is lovely and you are near guaranteed a good freshers experience here.
Cripps is by far the best hall, biggest rooms and best location!!
One of the oldest halls and has NOT been renovated. The rooms are a great size but desperately need updating. Best location of all the halls (only exception is if you do humanities) as it's the closest to the shops and in the very centre of campus
Yes Cripps doesn't have everything, but we have the best rooms on campus (consistently anyway, they're all fab!), and if nothing else the very quick dinner queue should make us the best over some halls that wait so much longer.
Great hall, amazing location just a shame it's so so expensive, foods not great either
Overall good but would be good if we had a functioning bar/ cafe like other halls
Best halls on campus in terms of location. Definitely one of the more aesthetically pleasing to.
Massive rooms sound people middle of campus, own gym own tennis courts own bar own library sick hall suh dude
This is best hall on campus as it is in perfect location and had the biggest room all with double beds
It's ok, its full of posh boys and girls though. Room size is great! Food is mostly great! JCR is s***! No functioning bar in this hall.
Absolutely amazing best hall on campus
I've loved staying in cripps, wouldn't want to be anywhere else
The best hall on campus, obviously! I had a fab year at Cripps, with the best people, great socials and a great location.
The social life in this hall is amazing! So many formals and after formal parties to enjoy! Also, it's situated in the middle of campus so you can literally be a couple of minutes away from where your lectures are! Oh and only hall in campus to have (almost) double beds...
Well located hall with good sized rooms
Fantastic hall with huge rooms. Just the JCR sucks and the hall bar isn't very user friendly.
Cripps is one of the prettiest halls. The hall has an old fashioned appearance with a Harry Potter style dining hall, bar, wooden panelled library, JCR common room and gym. The rooms are large with 3/4 beds. Theres the option of single study rooms to ensure plus rooms that are regularly cleaned by the hall. The hall runs almost ku monthly evening formals and nights out. The best year of my life was spent in this hall and I would recommend it to anyone!!
Best hall on campus despite some issues but the hall management need to get off their a**e and need to fix JCR and bar needs opening and not run by useless bar management. Best place socially and geographically though!
One of the most beautiful halls on campus. Very friendly and helpful management team, rooms are a good size with double beds, formals are best on campus. Good location for majority of subjects (particularly for geography, economics, maths and science)
