I really enjoyed my time in the halls of residence. I made lots of great friends and the price for the year was definitely the more affordable option out of the others that I looked at.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

The staff are great. They're friendly and nice. They help out if you have any difficulties. It's like a 5 minute walk to class. On cold days, I'm glad I don't need to wait for the bus outside. The accomdation on the other hand. I feel like I'm paying too much for what I'm getting. The bathroom is small. The laundry charges are too much and sometimes the machines don’t work. From talking with my classmates and friends, other places offer much more than what I am receiving at a lower rate. They can even afford to buy a bus pass and still would be paying less than what I am.
Thanks for taking time out to feedback. Your feedback is valuable and appreciated. We're so pleased you like the accommodation and location.
It really depends on the surrounding people, the facilities themselves are quite average.
Thank you for providing feedback on your stay.
Awful. Do NOT come here. I was naive and read the good reviews but didn’t realise how poor it actually is to live here. I had mould growing in my room and I had to go to reception 6 times, write 2 letters, make 3 phone calls, 6 people came into my room and over a month later it’s still not been sorted and my health is suffering. My shower was also broken when I came and got blocked halfway through term.

Sociable but lack of social spaces
Thanks for leaving your review. Peverell does have a common room as social space. Feel free to check it out.
Quite expensive for what I’m getting. Staff is good.
Thank you for taking time to feedback. Your feedback is important to us.
Don’t choose peverell. They won’t turn the heating on and will make you freeze in the winter when your room hits 2 degrees at night and you haven’t slept in days due to this. You are paying 8 grand for said heating and when you complain they will tell you that they haven’t heard anything which is lies as multiple reports and complaints have been made. They also don’t answer any maintenance claims it took one month for them to fix the unaligned lock on my bathroom. i have had to do my own DIY. i had mould in my shower i had to clean myself even though it was reported, Also rain in the windows. the staff are just rude, unprofessional and argumentive. . unacceptable and inexcusable. AVOID
We’re sorry to learn of issues being experienced at Peverell. The heating automatically comes on throughout all properties 2nd October due to weather changes. You can set the desired temperature required in your room. We suggest contacting the accommodation team with your issues accommodation@ntu.ac.uk with your details to allow us to escalate this to the site team for investigation and resolution.
The goats are infested with mould and nothing was done about it. Maintenance staff are rude and unhelpful. The value for money is ridiculous it’s not worth it at all.
We’re sorry to learn of issues being experienced at Peverell. We recommend you email your details and issues to accommodation@ntu.ac.uk which will allow us to escalate to site team for investigation and resolution.
My accommodation turned out to be better than expected. Wish there was more social links between the different accommodation on campus. Great location, super close to my lectures. Staff are very helpful when it is something urgent. The app is super easy to use.
Thanks for taking time out to review your stay!
Some of the toilets are small but its a perfect place for your first year at uni and you would love to meet new friends and enjoy your year at university.
Glad you had a positive experience. Thanks for taking time to share your experieince.
Peverell is a good enough accommodation for what you pay for. However, my flat experienced a lot of issues, which were sorted within a good amount of time. As it is the more affordable option of the two on Clifton, the room size is decent, some are bigger than others and you also have the larger room option.
We appreciate you taking time out of your day to leave a review and help us to improve services at site. Thank you!
A bit small for the price but the proximity to campus is helpful.
Thank you for taking time to leave a review.
Accommodation is overpriced for what it is, My flat had silverfish the whole year and it didn’t get properly sorted
Thank you for taking time out to leave a review. We are sorry to learn of your experience, however please do contact us at peverell@upp-ltd.com we would like to resolve the issue and discuss further.
Very convenient for a student.
Thank you for the review!
I really enjoyed my time in the halls of residence. I made lots of great friends and the price for the year was definitely the more affordable option out of the others that I looked at.
We are really pleased to receive your review! Great to hear of your positive experience whilst studying at NTU.
Would recommend living in halls for the social experience however there is no value for money and the cleaning was of minimum standard so we had to clean anyway.
Thank you for your review. We are sorry to learn you feel the cleaning was sub-standard. The property team carry out communal cleans, though personal space is down to the individual to clean on a regular basis. Should you have any further queries please contact us at reception. Always happy to assist.
Good cheap and friendly accommodation. Will find people who are like you with ease and is so close to the university. Being on campus is amazing
Not the worst place to live, quite social, the worst part about it is if you get bad flatmates other than that the bathrooms a little small
Decent space, good kitchen, small social space in accommodation, laundry facilities ok but more is needed
Good room and good kitchen the rooms could be updated for the price it costs to stay there.
It’s a well maintained property with reliable cleaning staff who maintain shared spaces. Appliances are replaced promptly if broken. The reception serves its purpose well.
I enjoy living in halls, they have weekly events that I look forward to. I do have some utility problems but it’s generally fixed within two hours of filing a complaint.
I didn't get to see the accommodation due to the covid pandemic. How unfortunate that turned out to be. The rooms were really tired, old fashioned and the woodwork really worn. The en-suite was all plastic and I always felt that the floor was going to give way when I stood in it. The 'radiator' was rusty and the kitchen a bit grim. The whole block needs a massive update and revamp. For the amount of money you are paying it really is disappointing especially as my course finished the first week in May yet my parents had to pay until the end of July. I returned home so I could work. I did get to see New Halls and they are definitely much better and more modern. The kitchens are much bigger and had sofas which makes it more sociable with other students. Bedrooms much better, toilets again much better and modern. I would recommend those over Peverell.
Hi, We are sorry to learn you have not been satisfied with our accommodation at Peverell Hall. We appreciate your feedback, and we will take it on board. Peverell Hall is already ongoing renovations year on year. In the recent few years , for example, our common rooms, several kitchens, and many bedrooms have been refurbished. The works included walls and ceilings decorating, replacing carpets, replacing worn furniture, radiators, installing new lighting etc. Our hall is available to view all year around both during open days and on random visits. During COVID time NTU were offering virtual viewings of the accommodation on several dates. My understanding is that due to your personal circumstances you were unable to participate in the viewings and the offered flat did not matched with your expectations. There are already plans in place to renovate further areas at Peverell Hall In the coming years. I will pass your comments to the relevant management team so they can check if the plans harmonise with our residents’ assumptions.
Very sociable and a good community feeling. Common room could have more to it rather than just table and chairs. Bathrooms are very basic, don’t feel clean enough need refurbishing really
Thank you for your feedback. We really appreciate your comments, and I can assure you they will be taken on board. We have recently refurbished several flats in our hall and as per our plan the further areas will be renovated so they look fresher. This includes our bathrooms that are currently being looked at to find the best way they can be modernised. Our common rooms have been also renovated last summer and the concept was they can serve both as study areas and social spaces hence internet ports and sockets installed at every table. We fitted brand new TV with sound system that can be used for gaming/movies night. The room includes vending machines for refreshment. All as recommended by previous residents. I would really appreciate if you could contact us with more specific suggestions on what else can be added. Residence Manager, Peverell
I had planned to stay in new hall but booked too late however I am glad of this. The only real difference between new hall and pev is that they have bigger kitchens with sofas and are a bit more modern but also end up with more flatmates and an overpriced rent. I absolutely loved my time at pev. Maintenance were lovely and were always quick to the flat if we ever had any issues and would try to resolve it. Big up Jim! We also had a cleaner, Joe, once a week who was brilliant and lovely. The bedrooms are fairly small but the space is made the most of with lots of storage. The mattress was also more comfortable than my bed at home. I did have some issues with the shower but that was just because you needed to clean underneath the plug of any hair and product. The common room would hold events such as games nights or quizzes. I never had any issues with the wifi and it was always fast. The only real issue I had was the walk to the shop but you could order food or find a friend with a car.
Waited til I moved out before making any unfair review. It was still EXTREMELY TERRIBLE. In fact it has scared me into booking average accommodations in Nottingham that look like this. The room size was extremely small, closet space is VERY small (so ladies this is not for you), MAIN PROBLEM is that my bathroom kept MALFUNCTIONING. I have had 2 major leaks from the sink and the toilet at the same time as the light also breaking. Then it happened again, a leak from a toilet. Maintenance (apart from the guy who fixed my first leak) was TERRIBLE. They seem to hire incompetent people or ones not fit for the right job, which is plumbing. The second job was left with screws undone, and the back open. When asked to put it back in, they used different screws and secured it halfway at a 45 degree angle (I actually have proof). Toilet was still leaking. Management was okay as they realised the problem. For what this place did to me, it was NOT worth my £135 a week.
Thé ensuit is absolutely disgraceful, literally floods everytime you shower because it is so small. Honestly puts you off showering sometimes.
Went with Peverell as it was slightly cheaper than the other Clifton accommodation choice (but was still really expensive!). The rooms are small but manageable. The bathrooms aren't the worse in the world either. There is usually always something happening in the courts, making it sometimes rather noisy but this wasn't too much of an issue. The flat being cleaned once a week was a good bonus. Wifi was also pretty good and you could connect multiple devices to it with little to no issues. The location is probably the best part- minutes away from anywhere on site (including the bus stop). Overall, I don't regret staying at Peverell as it was an awesome year, and despite how expensive it was, was a great choice.
I have a mixed review for my accommodation. Our flat was clean theoughout the year and the kitchen facilities are good. However, the room size is not upto my expectation. The major problem for me living in Peverell was the noise pollution. Throughout the year a bunch of students had party every single evening which lasted upto 3:00AM in the morning. This was really disturbing specially during the sleeping hours. The reception warned them about the level of noise pollution but only during the exam period when they should have done that earlier.
A great value for money option, not the biggest room but all facilities that could be asked for, our oven broke one day and was fixed the next, excellent all round.
No one really uses the common room, and everyone stopped doing halls activities and nights out after freshers week
It could do with some modernisation but overall is pretty good and tidy, the one big thing I noticed is the internet speed is amazing
Very good halls and most people liked the flatmates they were placed with. Maintenance are great if any problems occur.
Poverty but you’ll have the time of your life
Great halls and a great location, the common rooms are amazing for having a get together and the Internet is industrial grade. However it's very expensive compared to living in private halls and their aren't enough washing machines to go round.
In my opinion, it is too expensive for what it offers but the location is very good as you are on campus and everything is near you.
Was a very good introduction in my first year and great place to live on campus
Office staff so helpful and lovely! They cannot do enough for you. Common rooms are just big empty spaces with nothing in them and the rooms are a bit small
I would definitely not recommend Peverell for your student accommodation! I am staying here for my first year of university and so far EVERYTHING has broken... oven, iron, extractor fan, heating, electricity, plumbing and the internet just about works. I spent the first four months with my room reeking of drains. After three months of maintenance flushing my bathroom with bleach (subsequently making my room smell of drains and bleach) the UPP team decided to fix it. Even now it still smells. On the open day I was not informed that only a selected few flats would have their kitchen renovated even though we pay the same amount for a smaller kitchen. When I say smaller I mean perfect size for a hobbit. Even then the fridge blocks the ONLY window. However if you like the constant feeling of claustrophobia and isolation the rooms are perfect, about three metres long and two metres wide its perfect for wild nights in and mental breakdowns.
Very social halls. Always something happening
Really shabby and grotty, the value for money is really poor
A lot of damp in my room, too expensive for what it was worth. Good location if on Clifton Campus but if not then very out oft the way.
For the cheapest on Clifton, it isn't awful. The showers are a bit of a joke and the kitchens aren't great but you're 1 minute from anything on Clifton, including the point (The SU). It's liveable just try and make mates at New Hall so you can hang in their kitchens.
There's a reason it's called Poverty Peverell, near enough everyone there is paying the same overpriced amount for a s*** flat with rooms that are small anyway but some people have bigger rooms than others, for example one of our flat's rooms was 30% wider than another.
Peverell is fine if you want to be confined in your room with little space to socialise. The common room is dead and unused. Can easily become depressed whilst living here. £120 a week is too expensive for what you receive, although new hall is £20 more expensive, it is probably worth the extra money. One only benefit of living here is the convenience of it being on campus and close to everything
Massively massively overpriced, I feel so ripped off. Internet in my room was good and the cleaners did a good job but it's just such a depressing place to live. Always smells, smokers everywhere, old fashioned, horrible small rooms, flooding bathroom, everything broke when I so much as touched it. I could just get through it if the price was reasonable but it's disgustingly expensive just to add insult to injury. Please, please do not live here. The only perk is the social aspect and since I found my entire flat, block and 90% of Peverell annoying this was a massive downside for me.
Not worth the money I paid for it.
Quite dark halls and can seem quite lonely. Not the best location for city nightlife, I would have preferred a halls in the city centre.
Far away from the city, not the best location for if you're going out and have to get a taxi back. Quite dark halls and can become a bit lonely. Also sound echos at night from outside and in.
Good location on campus but very small in comparison to how much we are charged
Brilliant location and the cleaning/maintainence staff are amazing, however it's a very small basic hall, value for money soley lies on location and staff,
The rent is definitely not worth it; if you're looking for a place to stay on campus then it is the cheapest, but it's only really good for that. The shops are at least a 10/20 minute walk away, the rooms are pretty cold, you can hear everything that goes on in the kitchen (sucks when you're trying to sleep). Studentcom internet is terrible.
Kitchen is small, with a massive table, in all flats, which means that it's hard to fit everyone in there and cook at the same time. When you have a shower the bathroom 'floods' as there is no barrier between the shower and the toilet space. It is comfortable though and great for socialising, but definitely not worth the money. If it was about £1000 cheaper it would be better value for money.
Loved peverell, great for Clifton campus students!
I lived in halls for my first year and absolutely loved it! It was the best experience ever and I will never forget it..
Bit overpriced and a bit of a s****** but everyone you speak to wont change it due to the atmosphere it has going
Rubbish halls, dirty and cleaners did nothing, wifi never worked, my flat smelt as soon as i moved in, hardly anything worked, good for social tho
Overpriced, for a poor standard of room. Had to have pest control in second week of living in there due to mice in the walls.
great place, little bit expensive but it's close to Uni and that has been invaluable on several occasions. Staff here are incredibly friendly, the cleaners can be a bit lazy though.
Cleaners don't do any cleaning. Office staff like to moan and threaten to fine over trivial things, tge security guards are always up fot banter. But you probably get that anywhere. The people have made this place incredible and I would only change the absurd cost.. And some of the staff
The halls themselves were falling apart to some degree though other in the block had been renovated. The most postive thing about the experience was the location, being on campus meant I was ready for lectures but also being a newbie to nottingham it allowed to venture into the city center when I needed and find my own way round without the hassle of living in city straight away. The matinence and overall management if the halls was ok I feel like they do botch jobs and try to make money out of you by charging too much for broken things. This with the amount we pay I feel there should be more leniency and flexibility avaliable. For example washing machines should be cheaper expect to always have to change up money as it £2 for a wash and £1 for drying wich is necessary as there's no place to hang your clothes and your not meant to have a drying rack thougheveryone does.
best social life and the rest is s***! But it's worth it for the social qualities
if I lived in s*** halls but the people I lived better the year so it didn't affect us having a class time!
Peverell is so social and fun, you will make the best friends and know so many people. But, management are horrible and will charge you for just breathing in their halls, the rooms are tiny and the kitchens are old, which I wouldn't mind, except they charge you for it as if you are living in the ritz! It's great for first year because you're on campus and you make so many friends, I wouldn't change it for anything, but it's ridiculous how much they charge
