All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

The environment is really fun and homely. Especially playing in the communal space has become a routine, giving an opportunity to network and socialise! Rooms and staff coordination is also worth it!
Very nice everything and all staffs
Overall I’m happy with my accommodation.
Lived here for two years and have loved it, staff are incredibly friendly and property is well-kept. Made great friends that I’m continuing to live with for third year and location is great for both uni and shopping.
lovely quiet place to stay, the common area is great for studying and events. the cleaning lady paula is always around doing bits and always has a smile on her face. the rest of the team are great aswell. rooms are a good size and the kitchen is nice a big.
I have lived in Paddington park for 2 years now and I find the staff friendly and very helpful. The common room is very nice but the WiFi drops out sometimes. Rooms are spacious and kitchens are a good size aswell.
The experiment has been really nice except the Wi-Fi which is a real pain
Excellent staff, excellent facilities. Highly recommend.
I’ve been living here for my first year at university and I’ve got no complaints. It’s excellent value for money considering everyone gets their own bathroom and the size of our rooms. I really like the location, it’s right next to a Tesco and really close to the uol buildings. I go to LJMU on Byrom street and it’s a bit of a walk but I don’t mind. There’s a social room at the centre of the courtyard where events are often hosted (games nights and such). The staff have made me feel so comfortable, they’re all so friendly! The only thing is the WiFi has stopped working sometimes but it’s never for long and I’ve only noticed it late into the night
I'm currently in my 3rd and final year staying here, and stayed here for my 2nd year too. I've found it to be the best student accommodation - the location is great, the people are great, the staff are great, etc. My favourite part is the rooms, they're so much more spacious than all other student accommodation I've stayed in & seen my friends stay in. I mean, there's some paint chipped off the walls & the covering on the seats is often a little ripped, but I prefer that to rooms that look 'perfect', but are so small it makes you feel like you're in a cage (Crown Place). There's also a lot of storage space in the room btw. The WiFi sometimes goes out which is a little annoying but it doesn't happen that often tbh, and doesn't last long. Like I said, location is great. Its ridiculously close to the university. Its also close to a number of supermarkets, parks and great takeaways. There's also a hospital very close, so you don't have to go far for appointments/emergencies.
Less than a ten minute walk to the uni of liverpool. Good value, one of the cheapest accommodations. Staff are super friendly and always doing little events.
Paddington Park House is a great place to stay if you are studying in University of Liverpool. The location is superb. Campus buildings are at most 10 minutes away and there is a Tesco 5 minutes away. Most importantly, it is very good for value as it is very affordable and the rooms are very nice! Totally recommend.
Good place to live, socialize.

I am having a great time staying at paddigton. Met alot of people from different cultures and ethnicity. The management was great. The location is great. It's in walking distance from the university and the city centre.
Beautiful atmosphere and Amenities, friendly flatmates , supportive staff , need improvement in adding amenities
Beautiful place to stay at a prime location. It could’ve been better if we had a play section and a TV/ theatre room. The facility that they provide is in good condition. Liverpool is a beautiful place to stay at.
This is one of the best student accommodations and a very friendly place to live.
Paddington Park House is really a good student accommodation! I did not hesitate to rebook for another year knowing it's such a comfortable place to stay :)
Very cheap affordable ensuits.
It is the best place to live for a student. UOL is closeby and the grocery stores as well.
Loved the accomodation, with lot of green space.
Staff are great and accommodation is great value for money and is close to university
Great Value of money and very great social experience because as I said earlier everyone is very friendly here
