Benson Yard Biography
At Benson Yard you couldn't be closer to campus as Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Liverpool are within a five-minute walk away. All the essentials are on your doorstep, including the city centre, train station, supermarkets, bars and restaurants.
The building boasts fantastic facilities, such as a cinema room, music room, games room, lounge, and courtyard. There is also a gym, dance studio and study room for you to make use of and if you are wanting to make new friends, you can attend one of the many residents’ events. For your benefit, there is Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, all-inclusive bills and a cycle store. To make sure you have a hassle-free stay, there is CCTV, maintenance service and an on-site residents’ team.
Residents have the option of staying in an en suite room or a self-contained studio. Each room has modern finishings and is equipped with everything you could need.

What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Overall, the property offers good value for money. However, sharing the kitchen with seven people can feel overcrowded, particularly due to the limited storage space available. The location is excellent—perfectly situated between the University of Liverpool and the city centre, making it highly convenient for students. Regarding property management, my main concern is the lift. It has been frustrating to have one of the lifts out of service for several weeks, significantly slowing down movement within the building. Additionally, while signs indicate that repairs will be completed within a week, there has been no follow-up or communication from management, which would be greatly appreciated. Another issue is the heating system in the rooms, which does not seem to provide adequate warmth. It has been quite cold, and improvements in this area would be beneficial. On a positive note, the staff at Benson have been incredibly helpful and approachable, which has made a significant difference.

Benson Yard is a fantastic accommodation, its less than a ten minute walk away from my university and amenities really makes the pricing worth it. Maintenance is always quick and efficient, shout out to Paul for being friendly and dealing with keeping my room at the great standard I walked into it with (YANITED YANITED)

Rooms aren't all fitted with the Internet boxes that allow an ethernet connection, so despite glide saying everyone can plug in, they in fact cannot.

rooms are lovely , laundry’s easy to handle , having a hoover and social spaces to hire out has never been easier , very clean accommodation , would definitely recommends , security are lovely and staff are a great help when it comes to accidently locking yourself out.

I am very pleased with the housing accommodation; not once have I ever felt uneasy or questioned my safety and environment, and this is due to the staff and security who are ever so good about being present.
