The Refinery Biography
The Refinery is perfectly located as it’s within walking distance from the University of Leeds, Leeds Beckett University, Leeds City College and a bus ride from Leeds Trinity University. The train station and shopping centre are also within walking distance and there are plenty of restaurants and shops right on your doorstep.
There are fantastic amenities for you to enjoy. The rooftop terrace offers stunning views and is a great space to hang out with friends. There is a gym, cinema room, coffee station and a social area that has a TV, Xbox and a pool table. You can also benefit from the quiet study area, laundry facilities, vending machines and social events hosted throughout the year.
The Refinery has a wide range of modern studios and en-suite rooms, with a shared kitchen and living space, to choose from. All of the rooms are furnished with a small double bed, plenty of storage space, a workspace and an en-suite shower room. The studios are fitted with a mini-kitchen and are the perfect choice if you are looking for more private living.

Great accommodation but no karaoke’s room
Such lovely and welcoming staff. Never had an issue and I feel so happy and safe here. They hosted dog therapy which really cheered me up when missing my dog at home.

Property manage is 2 stars given the lady on reception with red hair is very unhelpful and nasty person. My friends and me we avoid her she does not like us. I hope not to see her again. Everything else very good experience thanks.

My stay at the Refinery was absolutely amazing! The management is very helpful and sort any of your problems real quick. The building is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and the social spaces are beautiful. Its very clean and the atmosphere is very nice. Special shoutout to Ian one or night staffs who’s available all the time and helps you if you’ve got any problems. I highly recommend staying at the Refinery to the students coming to Leeds!

The best accomodation I've ever lived in: the staff are so friendly and helpful, and the amenities are amazing. Having both social and silent study spaces to work in whilst also being able to relax downstairs or on the rooftop terrace is such a big plus. I've lived here for nearly 2 years and it's definitely worth the price.
Lots of space to stay, kitchen and bed far away, won't have a taste
Great place and management. The rooms are spacious and the kitchen is well thought out. The management even improved the heating during the cold winter after receiving feedback. Only gripe is that there is no kettle or vacuum cleaner (unless you go to the reception).

So glad I picked this accommodation. It’s so Modern with a lot of facilities and the staff are so so helpful and always respond quickly when you need help. I’ve even convinced 2 of my friends to live here with me next year because they all love it when they come visit me. It’s close to everything I need- uni, food shops an work in city centre
Very nice and modern student accommodation, one of the best ones in leeds. Within walkable distance to the city centre and supermarkets. Always felt safe here with 24 hour security who were friendly and always available. Despite my university campus located in headingley, a bus stop was a 2 min walk so very accessible. Overall would recommend even though it is on the more pricey side but if you can afford to i would spend the extra.
I love staying at The Refinery because it feels so welcoming. The staff is always very understanding and helpful. There are activities for each month and there are regular cleanliness checks. Someone always helps me out regardless of the time - may it be early morning or late night. I see many accommodations around but I like mine the best :)

This accom is very welcoming for both residents and their guests. My boyfriend stayed here this year and the reception staff were lovely and welcoming towards us both, leading to me booking here next year. The facilities are great and the rooms are in great condition with any maintenance being done straight away and the public areas always being clean. The booking process was easy and the staff were more then happy to accommodate any requests i had.

The refinery is my favorite flat.The first reason I choose to live there is its location. It only takes me 5-10 minutes to walk to school. The second reason is its facilities. I just need to go downstairs to play billiards and do some exercises.

When I first arrived at the refinery the staff were so lovely and welcoming and made me feel at home straight away. I was the only one in my flat for a while so they made sure I was okay and not lonely :) would definitely recommend I love this place!!

I’ve had a wonderful time at The Refinery! The staff is extremely friendly and available to offer any help/assistance when needed. The location is great, as it’s walkable to city centre and to the university. The social spaces are great, I particularly love the cinema room and roof terrace. I’ve loved my time here so much that I’ve rebooked for next year and can’t wait to spend time in a studio.

Staff are so so friendly! Steph always has time to help me. I’ve lived there since September and have rebooked for next year, even if I get on my masters I’ll stay. Mainly because I hate moving, but also because of the staff and it’s really close to campus so is convenient for me.

So as a fourth year student returning from a year on an industrial placement, I was looking for a comfortable place in Leeds to return for my final years. The refinery really suits me because of how close it is to the university, the city and other popular locations where students stay such as Hyde park. This means that I am able to go everywhere I need to within walking distance, whether it’s for sport, social events or university classes. The accommodation is also comfortable and has a great support team, who are really friendly and were able to fix any maintenance issues (which were themselves rare) within a day (which is much faster than most). The internet is pretty much perfect, and has been reliable for doing a lot of university work online. Finally, the gym is extremely useful and there are great social facilities if needed. Removing your waste or doing your washing is relatively easy as well. The only negative would be paying for washing facilities on top of your rent.

Great social space downstairs with the pool table and the gym. The kitchen is spacious and room sizes also. WIFI is also great and never plays up.
Living in the refinery makes me feel at home, every one is so earnest and helpful! We also have intricate decoration in different holidays！I even received a red envelope from our lovely reception in Chinese Spring Festival！

I have really enjoyed my first semester here. The rooms and really big and the bathroom is by far the nicest i’ve seen in any student accommodation. The kitchen is so airy and bright and has a really nice view. The social areas and study areas downstairs are amazing and have lots of facilities. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanted to look for an amazing accommodation first year.

Can't say anything bad about this place. It's nice and new, en-suite room size is just enough though the bed size and mattress quality are mediocre at best if you're taller and a bit spoiled from home. Very helpful and nice staff as well as the night-time security. Can get very noisy with all the drunk students in the area, however, and the pub opposite the building has some questionable customers. Still, deffo wouldn't mind staying here another year again.
Such a pretty accommodation to stay at, rooms and bathrooms are really nice! Roof terrace is the best thing here! Staff are kind and the building is always clean. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for more of a chill vibe accommodation as the social side isn’t the best in terms of people and parties, however its right next to other student accommodations, 10 min walk from the city centre.

My daughter has been here a week - chosen a private hall as daughter was allocated Clarence Dock by the Uni, but she didn’t want to live so far away from the campus. On enquiring we were sold on the building being new, with good social spaces, gym, told on booking there were plenty of UOL freshers, and they would have plenty of opportunity to socialise. However, the reality is that the hall is half empty, there are hardly any freshers, let a one UOL freshers, here, the building is not finished so there is building noise all day (and with only online teaching this is not great for actually being able to hear the lectures!), they can not use the social spaces without booking, and only as a flat. The ladies who run it are ‘scary’ according to daughter and seem to ‘discourage’ them from meeting anyone outside their flat. The roof terrace is not finished/safe so they can not get an escape from their flat, and apart form very nice flatmates, it is a quiet lonely place to live.
