Everything was good apart from noisy lift maintenance for the whole of the year. This meant that 1/2 lifts in block D were unusable all year and you had to wait up to 10mins to get in at peak times. Considering there are 20 floors there should be another lift. Also needs more washing machines.

Good experience, good maintenance team, nice and friendly receptionists (open 24 hours!), comfy common room.

Good accommodation, very easy to get to campus and in town
Really enjoy living at CV! Rooms are VERY nice with really clean bathrooms and plenty of room and storage space! Location is AMAZING - like literally 5 minutes to all my lectures and is so close to all the clubs and bars. Tesco underneath the accom is also good for convenience and there's a Morrisons like 5 minutes away too. Kitchens are very spacious with sofas and TV which makes it great for socialising. Wouldn't say its the most social accom but it really depends on your flat - if you want to meet people its very easy to do so! It is expensive but probably worth it for location and quality!
I did so much research and looked at every accom possible for Uni of Leeds students and even after that I wasn’t entirely sure which to choose, but Central Village seemed like the safest bet due to it having the most rooms (so more chance of being accepted even though it’s popular) and it was one of the ones in my final few options. Long story short, I am SO glad I decided to choose CV. The best thing about it is definitely the location. Trust me you will not get a better located accom, not even the ones on campus are as good because they’re still further when you’re walking to and from the clubs in the city centre like Warehouse (very important if you’re part of a sports society as you’ll go there every Wednesday) and pretty much every club that’s not the student union. I don’t have enough space for everything but I’d say the only downside is it is a bit hard to socialise with people especially if you don’t get along with your flat, but you’ll make friends elsewhere who live there!
Brilliant for location but lifts are so bad
Really clean and modern and great location just a little pricey and not too social
Many events like freshers party and pizza night are organised by the staff ensuring that the students can interact
Central Village is honestly one of the nicest student accommodations I've seen. The staff are helpful and kind and the location is perfect. It's seen as less social but people are friendly, you can easily get chatting to people in the lift or common rooms as it is the biggest accommodation at Leeds. I definitely recommend it!
I love it! I’m so happy I picked it. It’s close to the city and the university at the same time. It’s the best accommodation to me
Well my daughter has been there 3 days and hates it its an awful place an experience she would not recommend it, if you are a social person. she wants to leave Leeds because of the accommodation. I would advise another halls this a a soulless block of flats with only one social space in the next block I would like to hear other views as I think the uni needs to know
Central Village won't be for everyone it really depends on what kind of experience you want. The biggest complaint is that it's not sociable enough but it was perfect for me (I'm quite shy). However, if you're more sociable there were pres most nights in the first semester which lots of people from other halls like to join due to the location. Some people complain about flatmates but that's down to luck as I got on great with all of mine. It is on the expensive side for what you get facilities wise (1 oven/electric hob, 1 microwave, 2 fridge-freezers between 6 in the kitchen) but the rooms and ensuites are very nice (big desk, desk chair, full length mirror, lots of storage). Laundry facilities are on site but there's not many machines considering how many people use them so you have to wait a while sometimes. The location's perfect as uni's a couple minutes walk away. There's also a tesco on site, morrisons 5mins away, and about 10mins walk to the station.
First two years were amazing with great tutors who were enthusiastic about our work. Left for an internship in September 2017 and returned autumn 2018 When returned the course had a completely new course leader who unlike in previous years, final year was run by a guy who had no experience in education but instead had experience in the New York fashion industry This is way too old school for what a modern course needs! He never had anything good to say about our work and was often plain disrespectful about our work -making many of us cry. I felt like I could never discuss my ambitions creatively whilst in Final year & it always had an affect on my personal life on this course. I developed depression and just felt worthless due to the criticism received. In the 2nd semester of final year I managed to pull it together (without the help of the main tutors of the course the garment techs were the best)but do NOT study here under the new course leader!it’s toxic!!
depressing buildings full of posh tories
Central Village is the worst place to be in your first year. It makes you feel so alone due to everyone keeping themselves to themselves. Lucky you if you’ve got a nice flat and they are your friends and you do things together inside and outside of your flat. But the majority of the time, your flat are nice people but not YOUR type of people. You see each other once a day and everyone will be out doing their own thing. If you come to central Village expect to have to try extra hard to make friends by going out and going to other accomodation for pres and going to societies. All I can say... it is sooo handy being around the corner from lectures and supermarkets, you can wake up with minutes to spare and still be on time. The accomodation is perfect if you’re an introvert but if you want to make the most of student life and don’t want to be a loner DONT COME TO CENTRAL VILLAGE.
Gets a lot of stick for not being very sociable but it's what you make it. Guarantee there was a pres at someone's flat most nights in first term. Great rooms, location is unreal. Tesco downstairs a lifesaver. Popular for a reason.
Right. I read all these reviews saying how quiet and anti-social CV is and thought "this is perfect for me. It's quite, fantastic location, little bit on the expensive side but it'll be quiet, few parties so I can sleep and get up for work." As f***** if. I got on with my flatmates to start with, but they were so loud. And completely disregarding my asking them to keep it down hours after the curfew (another bonus I thought, by 11pm I could start to settle in before my 7am start). Not likely. Central Village isn't the most social, but it has come a long way from last year. Being so close to town it is a popular spot for pres which I didn't realise tend to go on until about 1-3am. Being in the flat closest to the front door, I was designated doorman to these people pounding on the door at all hours, too. And as if that wasn't bad enough, even though I selected I wanted to live with clean people, that didn't appear to happen. I commend the staff, but f*** this place.
Lovely flat, modern, clean and secure. Perfect location for university and to pop into town. Only thing was there wasn’t much use of the common room or socialising between blocks compared to other halls
Right next to the city centre and the University, location couldn’t be better, it was very social in my own flat but not with other flats on my floor, it got very warm but there are fans
ok, this is going to be a very honest review. i was advised to go to CV by a friend, however my experience has been unsatisfactory, and i'm not the only one. Firstly, it is VERY unsociable. As in, noise curfew, no socials, no balls, no events that help you get to know others. Apart from my flatmates i know two other people in this building, the way the building is designed is extremely unsociable. AND IM NOT THE ONLY PERSON TO THINK THIS. Secondly, the price is astonishing. I was given the largest (most expensive) room in the flat (WITHOUT BEING INFORMED) i pay £729 a month, this is ridiculous and had i have known this before coming i would not have come here. This has penalised me all year as i had no money to spend. (Having said this, my flatmates rent was not as bad, however still high.) IF YOU WANT A QUIET ACCOMMODATION, COME HERE. IF YOU WANT A FUN FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE, DONT! i really wish someone had given an honest review before i came here.
-Best location for first years. 5 minutes from the centre of town, Morrisons and the Laidlaw library. Has a Tesco underneath Block B. A few minutes from uni and across the road from the Edge gym. -Can be quite anti-social. There's less of a community feel than at the other halls, particularly Devonshire. Flats can be quite lonely too but that depends on your flatmates. -Things are fixed quickly if you ask. -CitySide gym is free for all residents. -Rooms are quite small but they are some of the nicest on offer. -Can be quite cold in the lower flats especially in rooms with heaters in winter as the heaters only stay on for 2 hours before you have to manually turn them on again. -Circuit laundry app gives you £75 on your account which has lasted me all year and I still have some leftover. -Most of the receptionists are very friendly. -The carpark can only be used for a few hours as there are not many spaces. You have to get a permit. The carpark across the road is expensive.
Central Village is a very strange place to live. You have the convenience of getting to your lectures in about 10/15 minutes which is more than can be said for a lot of other accommodations. However, if you’re aiming to come to uni to make friends and socialise then Central Village really isn’t the place. If you’re lucky you’ll make good friends with your flatmates but it seems uncommon that anyone ever gets to know other people in the accommodation. Visiting other accommodations and seeing how friendly everyone is made me a bit jealous. Central Village is very expensive and the only thing even close to make it worth it is the distance to university. If you’re on a budget I’d recommend somewhere cheaper if you can handle the bus/walk to uni. Common room tends to always be dead but there have been nice events like pizza night and pancake day. Cleaning is fine, bins are emptied every weekday. No problems with Internet.
Great location, rooms and ensuite were really good. I was lucky with my flat mates but generally it's not the most socialable halls
I lived in block D. High quality accommodation with en suites and shared kitchen. 4 flats per floor, 5/6 people per flat. No social spaces for people to meet, rooms are all in one straight row down a corridor so not very sociable. Location is literally 5 mins walk from everywhere. Met the best people here on my floor but I feel lucky to have done so. Not easy to meet other people in the block.
EVERYONE COME CV best halls ever!!!! Obviously depends who you are put with but would not want to be anywhere else!! Ignore the reviews about it being unsociable because it is sooo sociable and helps being so close to the city for nights out etc, management are v v v nice and look after you (especially when take away is needed) everyone I've spoken to loves it here woooo come cv
Cold and echoey really depressing and grey and hard to socialise with people. Also really bad sound proofing and not very good value for money.
Lovely place to stay in a perfect location but the rooms and flats are quite unsocial and the security is overly strict with their noise curfew.
Central Village is a very nice, new, and modern place to live. However it is quite expensive how small the rooms are. The accommodation provided trash removal from the kitchen daily. It is one of the more unsocial places to live, however it was nice for me. It was very nice that only 6 flatmates including yourself share 1 kitchen with 2 fridge/freezers, plenty of storage places for food! The location is unbeatable, it is less than a 5 min walk to classes and about a 10 minute walk into the city centre. If you don't feel like walking to Morrisons there is a small Tesco inside Central Village. It is expensive, but it was worth it.
Lovely, clean, modern rooms with double beds and en suites, not very sociable and cleaners come once a term but only if the flat is already clean
Central village is in the perfect location being only 2 mins from the heart of uni and 5 mins from the centre of town! It's a well maintained accommodation with modern furnishing and great en suites. However, due to it being such a large accommodation it can be quite unsociable at times.
Fab place, nice rooms, perfect location
Great location, have had a lot of problems in the flat,
Very comfortable and luxurious but not very sociable
Extremely strict curfew of 11pm ruins social aspect of accommodation. No leniency at all and even if you turn the music off when asked you will receive a warning and the third warning they give you a fine.
Not sociable at all, expensive, good sized rooms though and very good location!
Like a haunted hotel, nice to live in but dead socially.
Very modern and comfortable but don't expect much of a social life-it's like a posh prison block!! No one mixes with each other and the management/security is too strict!! Flats in the tower are considerably smaller than flats in the other 3 blocks
Really clean and modern but really unsocial
Very modern and the best location in Leeds. But the security is too strict and will shut down pre drinks, and give out fines too easily.
Absolutely love it here! Yes it is slightly more expensive than others, but it is perfectly located for everything! 2 minutes from the Sport s Centre, 10 minutes from the City and 10 minutes to the centre of campus. All the rooms have a double bed and ensuite which is just like being in a hotel and the communal space has a clean/modern kitchen with enough living space and a TV! Couldn't recommend it enough.
everyone is a bit of a Doyle and the receptionist people are rejects that lose parcels
The location saves money from not needing taxis most nights. If you're in the big tower there are endless social opportunities. As long as you make a lot of friends in freshers you'll be great.
Great location, very convenient for the uni and the city. However, for the money we pay we should have a cleaner like a lot of other accommodations. Haven't used the common room since fresher's week but I'm quite social with others in my block. Good place to live overall
bit boring at times compared to not so nice accommodations. but is very nice to live in and quiet if you want to do work. theres a good balance
11 o'clock noise curfew very strictly enforced with no leniency at all
Prime location, exorbitant price.
Perfect location but can be anti-social. Depends on the people you live with!
Its great and all but they're all miserable b*******
Best location for going to uni and Leeds centre, not so good for socialising, and really expensive.
CV has a reputation as being antisocial but I think it's really down to the flatmates you get as some floors are very social. One thing that is antisocial is the fact that you don't have a flatmate opposite you when you ie. when you come out of your door you are facing a wall as all flats are in the same direction. This is different to most halls such as Devonshire, Charles Morris and James Baillie but the same as The Tannery, Concept Place and most other new builds.
Excellent location, lovely en suites, great size beds yet it is expensive.
great value for money but not very sociable
