All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Staff are very friendly however maintenance could do better
Thank you for taking your time to write us a review :) All the staff at BT really appreciates this! We understand that maintenance issues can sometimes be frustrating, but our team works really hard to get everything fixed as quick as possible. Sometimes we need to order parts from external companies, and this can delay your maintenance request. You can always check the status of your maintenance request on the US app. Have a lovely journey!

Kind and inviting staff. Feels like home.
Hello, Thank you for you review. We are glad that you are enjoying your staying with us :) Your message will be passed to the team at BT. Best regards,
Wouldn't really recommend to be honest the receptionist is so lovely and helpful however the price really isnt worth it, its near the city which is useful however the road noise when you open the windows is unbearable, the due to covid the social aspect hasn't been the best but we made do with what we had. Broadcasting tower is a strong 4/10 and strongly recommended white rose for price quality and social aspect.
Wouldn't recommend Broadcasting Tower to anyone. The only good thing about it is how close the the centre you are. The alarms go off constantly which is annoying when trying to get work done. The staff on site just barge into your rooms without knocking as if they are paying £160 a week... there is always something broke and they always require access to your rooms. when you move it you would expect a clean room and kitchen etc.. but no, it was filthy, cant read the marks on the oven as they are faded, same with all of the other appliances. chairs were all broke around the table. you can be stood waiting for a lift for 15 minutes, night security are a********, only 3-4 washing machines for everyone to use, the prices to wash your clothes is ridiculous, the dryers are crap and your clothes still come out wet. always problems with the water and, sometimes your shower just doesn't work etc. for £160 a week, its scandalous. i would, on a good day, pay no more than £100 a week.
Please listen to these reviews...I didn't and I regretted it as soon as I moved in. The staff are useless, it takes weeks to fix anything that's broken, there's obviously no communication between them, reception is closed pretty much the entire time and there's basically NO SECURITY. Single handedly the worst experience I've ever had with student accomodation. Fridge has nail polish on it from previous residents? Try and charge them for an entire new fridge! Locks on room doors? No, they don't need those...(mine was broken when I moved in, it took 6 hours to get someone to fix it as it "wasn't essential") I had 1 other person in my 6 person flat...enough said. 3 WASHING MACHINES FOR THE ENTIRE TOWER, seriously...and it costs about £6 Everytime you want to wash/dry something. I had money taken out of my account weeks earlier than stated for rent, with little to no effort made to fix it.
Leeds Beckett University Halls- Not a social halls. Decided to redecorate during exam period: drilling all day long! Also, ripped out laundry room, said they would be out of order for a few days. Still not back on 5/05 and been about two weeks- Been told to use Sky Plaza's. Reception only open till 6 so cant collect parcels if been to Uni. But even when Reception is supposed to be open, it hardly ever is. Which means hardly any security- had to call the police because a drunken man(not student) for passed out outside. Expensive- only because of location. Rooms weren't decorated since taken over by Unite Students: Walls scuffed, carpet old/worn/full of hair, Shower broken. Middle of year had to hire a company to come in because there were bugs in everyone's carpet. Cleaner came every two weeks but only cleans around things, so under microwave never cleaned Probably a perfect accommodation after summer as it will be completely renovated, but they seem to have ignored this years tenants.
Very bad money value as they dont have much facilities like gym and common room
