Eclipse Biography
Eclipse boasts a prime location, exceptional features and stylish accommodation for students in Cardiff. Cardiff University campuses are all within a ten-minute walk whilst Cardiff Metropolitan University is just over thirty-minutes away by bus. The building is located in Cardiff city centre with shops, restaurants, nightlife spots, parks and much more all just a short walk away.
You’ll never get bored at Eclipse thanks to its incredible social spaces. There’s an onsite gym, cinema room, karaoke room, dinner party room and even a nightclub! There are social events held throughout the year, which provide a great way to meet your neighbours. When it’s time to hit the books there are peaceful study and conference rooms to make use of. For your convince there is also an on-site supermarket!

What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Location is great and staff are very friendly, but the time it takes for stuff to get fixed or cleaned isn’t very good. The facilities are good but some of the machines in the gym have been broken the whole time I have been here, which I find quite disappointing.

Overall had a decent experience, the reception staff are really friendly and helped me settle into living away. There are a few issues such as cleaning and property management but that is down to a staffing issue.

Very good, social atmosphere; with pool tables, cinema room and general social seating areas, as well as accommodation hosted events which are open to all at no added cost to students. Staff and security make an effort to know residents on a personal level, making the environment more welcoming. The maintenance is carried out quickly and efficiently, Luke makes sure to give maintenance jobs his entire attention and fixes things properly ( no lazy quick fixes). The WiFi can be unreliable at times and hot water tends to be unreliable during times of day where shower use is higher. That being said nowhere can be perfect but eclipse makes the best effort to give you a comfortable and easy residential experience.

This place feels like home to me, whether it’s the staff that feel like your friends, the people around or the location. There will always be people around you, it made me feel a little less homesick, seeing many people, interacting with them and making new connections simply because of the accommodation is a great privilege. It’s close to everything and has a very ideal location.

Many times social spaces aren’t working and some equipment’s are missing. After booking maintenance for clogged bath area they don’t come & it gets clogged frequently
I’ve been staying in a 6 sharing female flat for the past 5 months, and the amenities within the flat are outstanding but the social spaces including the gym could be improved
I've had a generally positive experience at Eclipse Cardiff. The location is excellent, making it super convenient for getting around the city and accessing nearby universities. The amenities are good, offering everything you need for student life, though maintenance could be improved—there were occasional delays in resolving issues. Cleanliness is okay, and the rooms provide a good level of comfort for both studying and relaxing. Overall, I'd recommend Eclipse Cardiff for students looking for a well-located and comfortable place to live, but I hope to see improvements in maintenance efficiency to enhance the experience further.
Over the last year and a half living here I have been able to come out of my comfort zone thanks to living in eclipse. Not only are the staff super friendly but everyone here is so welcoming. Most of my friends I have made in Cardiff are thanks to people chilling in the lobby, hanging out at the gym and and the study rooms. My room is a comfortable size and the fact I get to live with my best mate makes it even better. The staff are nothing but awesome, always friendly and helpful. Eclipse is also a perfect location right next to city centre so it's not noisy at night. 10/10 Experience
Collegiate Eclipse Cardiff offers top-notch student accommodation with stylish, spacious apartments and excellent amenities. The location is ideal, with easy access to both the city and university. Facilities like the gym, cinema room, and social lounges make it stand out. The friendly staff and strong security provide peace of mind. While not the cheapest, the quality and value for money are exceptional. Highly recommend for a comfortable and convenient student living experience.
At the beginning of my stay here, it was really difficult bringing my stuff over from my storage unit as they dont have parking, so just be wary of that. Pros: I have a studio and it's a good size with everything you need. I like the shelf space above the bed, theres lots of storage space under the bed and the TV they provide is nice and big. The gym is also pretty good. There was an event recently called Asian Week and it looked really well done with lion dancers and food. Cons: They do not have enough staff which is ridiculous when the studio costs about £9000 for the year. This leads to a lot of problems like general maintenance - the emergency lights in my stairwell have been dark for about a week (I tripped and dropped my groceries because of this). At the start of the rental period, all the fans in my apartment didn't work, and this wasn't fixed until 3 weeks later (for context, that is £639 worth of rent). Also the room wasn't deep cleaned when I first moved in.

Quite a good place to live at. The management team are surprisingly responsible when the fire alarm in my kitchen rang they came up to my room quickly to check what happened.

awful, for what you pay it is not worth the money. the staff are nice and thats one of the only bonuses apart from location. if you have an issue it will never get solved. and as well, people leave rubbish everywhere and it is disgusting, the staff do absolutely nothing about this either. i have pictures of milk that has literally separated being sat in the hallway.

the rooms are spacious enough where you settle in straight away, the on-site gym has everything i need and i’m a regular there. reception available at all hours of the day helps when i forget my key and lock myself out and it doesn’t cost anything like my last accom. have spoke to them enough where we’re now on first name basis (fluer and ellie)! i also found two eggs in the easter egg hunt so i couldn’t be happier

A really nice accom, has large rooms compared to different accomodations in cardiff, and very convenient considering there is a tesco in the same building as well as its close to st davids center

I love it I wish I lived there my first year the location is great the place is nice amenities are amazing they fix issues almost right away if possible

Eclipse is such a safe space and feels so welcoming. I was initially worried about moving to another city, but settled in very quickly because of the friendly staff and my room feels so homely.

With an array of onsite facilities and spacious modern studios at a great price point, location that is walking distance from city centre and campus, Eclipse is a great place to call your second home. There is often no one in the reception. The microphone in the karaoke room does not work. Although the people are willing to fix the stove it does not work sometimes. The toilet water is either too cold or too hot. However, the location is good as it’s near the city centre and university with Tesco downstairs.

The Eclipse Student Accommodation Card is highly recommended! The facilities are fantastic, and having a Tesco shop nearby makes it incredibly convenient to grab anything we need at any time. Plus, the added bonus of free food, snacks, and sweets during events is a delightful perk. Overall, a top-notch choice for student living.

I have been staying at eclipse for 7 months now and I can honestly stay it has been a wonderful place to stay. From the welcoming to now I have enjoyed all my time here staying at Eclipse. I would recommend here to anyone else. The location is very reliable, close to everything and nowhere is ever to far. I have definitely enjoyed my stay and intend to return in the fall.

I’ve loved my stay in eclipse so far and I enjoy using the social spaces. It’s a 10 minute walk to the city center and is in a great location, would definitely recommend.

Very good place to stay. Throughly enjoyed it. Quiet enough but with plenty of social opportunities. Local to Cardiff City Centre (10 minute walk). Plenty to do around the building as well as inside. WI-FI is good.

I have been stay at eclipse for just over six months and i love it. There are loads of different social spaces so my accommodation is always used to host friends. Both the people at reception and security guards are always friendly and handle any issues very fast. The accomodation is above a tesco express and less than a five minute walk from Sainsburys. In addition the city centre is within a ten minute walk, so it is in a prime location. The rooms have a great layout and colour scheme so feel bigger and overall are great value for money.

A good accommodation, lots of social spaces you can book but it costs more than I think it's worth. Moved in with friends which was very easy. Usually very clean but the gym usually has something needing repaired. Overall a good luxury accommodation
Moved here 5 months ago. Great location. tesco downstairs, city center nearby. cardiff queen street station and a lot of bus stops are close too. love the social spaces: cinema, party, karaoke, dining rooms are frequent haunts. Great TVs in the bedroom and living room. well equipped spacious kitchen. social spaces regularly cleaned. never used it but bikes are available for hire. "24/7 concierge" will help as if they are doing you a great favor. some of the staff is helpful but I have stopped looking for friendly smiling faces. "free breakfast" advertised was just a fruit bowl and some bread you could toast with a jar of butter and jam available. i dont think its enough for 20students. It was regularly provided mon-fri in first sem. Haven't seen anything since Christmas break. only free coffee from the machine. Takes ages to sort out a maintenance issue, get anything fixed. I've seen better amenities and maintenance for cheaper elsewhere. Extremely dissatisfied with the management.

Stayed here for my post grad year, the staff are brilliant, the rooms are SOOO much bigger than other accommodation, location is fantastic, the communal spaces are MASSIVE...so much to do. Highly recommended for all students as it has something for everyone !

Eclipse as a whole has been an amazing experience to meet new people and continue my journey with university. The social spaces cover all necessities and even more including study spaces to achieve a calming and relaxing environment. The team here are AMAZING, they're so helpful with everything needed. The only downfall is the lack of parking here, but other than that, Eclipse is great.
I have loved living at eclipse since day one. I have made amazing friend and the amenities are unlike no other!
On average my experience here was very nice. I didn't have much time to participate in many social events but I am aware they were very well organized. The girls at the reception were all amazing but especially Sani, Chrystalla and Ewa. If I would have to recommend a place to someone staying in Cardiff for a while, I will definitely tell them about Eclipse. The only negative aspect of the whole experience was the level of cleanness, sometimes it was so dirty in the corridor that honestly the roads outside are cleaner.

The „Eclipse“ is a great accommodation just a few minutes away from the city centre. There is a 24 hours on site team as well as 24 hour concierge service. You can do many different things there like going to the cinema or to the gym. There is also free and fast Wifi and lots of events and parties ( even trips like skiing; that’s what I did). If you want to see Cardiff by bicycle you can just hire bikes for free. Every morning you also can get free coffee and tea. I really enjoyed living there! I highly recommend the „Eclipse“ in Cardiff!
The "Eclipse" is a great luxury accommodation only a few minutes away from the city centre. There is an amazing service and 24 hours on site team and concierge service as well. With my new friends from all over the world I can go to the private gym, the dining room, the cinema, the Karaoke Room or the private event location (Cleanliness is outstanding). For me very important: the mega fast broadband! Everything is very stylish here and looks like in Instagram (the difference: you live here!). The team here organises a lot of private events and parties - even trips like skiing and camping (Glamping). We just had a great Halloween party on site! There is free Coffee and Tea and all bills are inclusive and free bike hire. The Eclipse have the best value for money - better than any other accommodation that I had viewed. Steph the Accommodation Manager is amazing and very helpful and so are her team. I can highly recommend the "Eclipse" in Cardiff!
