This is my first time ever to live in a private student accommodation and I have been so pleased with Fitzalan. It has made my final year already so comfortable with its amazing location, being so close to uni. Fitzalan being close to the city centre and multiple supermarkets and food places has made it extremely easy to settle in and be in the happening place. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, always being at the reception ready to help students! The Accomodation itself is worth the money, the studio is beautiful laid out and their social centers offers such great fun especially in the cold winter! I personally recommend this place!

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

I have been living here since last year September and i am an international student so i was very skeptical about my stay, but i am so happy i choose this accommodation because the rooms are spacious and the infrastructure provides lots of storage which makes it so much easier. My room has never faced any issues of leakage, have never had to face any plumbing or electrical issues . The accommodation has a vast common area along with some games to play during the freetime. And i have also enjoyed the movie theatre and music room facilities provided here. The accommodation also makes sure to host exciting events every month which makes the experience of living here better. I feel safe here as we have a full-time security which was my primary concern as some other accommodations do not provide that. The premises have always been cleaned and the laundry services provided here are also convenient to use . I highly recommend choosing Fitzalan for your stay in Cardiff .
Great location with great staff always willing to help and support you.
I have really enjoyed living here this year! The staff have always been helpful when I have had a maintenance issue or if I needed help at reception. It is always very clean and in a perfect location!!
Overall I have had a satisfactory time during the year at Fitzalan. I stayed in a classic studio which provided everything I needed in a good sized room and bathroom. The staff are exemplary and do a great job of getting to know everyone and solving any issues as fast as possible and are great people. The social experience has been ok, in terms of events the staff couldn’t do more to put stuff on for people to attend. I just think that the social side of it miss out because the spaces are located away from the rooms which means they are used or gathered in as much as they could be. There have been a couple issues with the size of the place there are loads of fire alarms where they are on for 2 minutes before stopping making it frustrating at times. Cleaning at times is lacking but that says more about the lack of responsibility from students themselves rather than the cleaning team. Either way, it’s a good accommodation with a bit of a disconnect but great staff and rooms.
Really great place to live and socialism is great at hear and very one is nice
Love it here, it’s very clean and I’ve never had to deal with loud noises!
I’ve been living there for a year and I already extended my contract for next year. The location is perfect and the rooms have everything I need to undertake my studies. As an international student, I like the payment options and the alternatives offered for the guarantor scheme. The staff is also friendly and always helpful. As a PhD student, I also like that the accommodation is not very noisy and had a good range of mature students living there.
Excellent accommodation! Been living here for 3 years, had the time of my life
Wonderful place to live, such a good location with brilliant facilities. Facilities always kept wonderfully clean and room maintenance is always promptly and well done. Staff are always friendly, especially Hayley at reception, who is always there for a chat and to help with anything.
Great location, amazing staff, access to free gym and other facilities, stayed here for three years and loved every minute!
Very good, lived here for the past three years and couldn’t ask for much more. Gym, bike storage, own post box and is always very clean.
Staff are absolutely great, particularly Hayley who is always on hand to help with any issue at all. Almost always really clean and tidy. Lots of events. Great social area. Quiet the vast majority of the time. Never really too cold, even in winter. Have MUCH preferred it to where I was previously living.
Been staying here since September and without a doubt have already rebooked for next year. The location is amazing, about 2 minutes from city centre. Very very close to queenstreet station as well as bus stops. The staff here are amazing and so friendly. Every month they hold events like arts and craft night or beer and pizza night to bring students together and socialize. They’ve got a cinema room, gym, game rooms, social area, what more could you need in a student accommodation! The Fitzalan is a very safe and secure place. Definitely recommend for university students of all ages.
All the staff are very welcoming and i have had the best experience living here. 100% would recommend

Lovely receptionist who always checks how the students are doing. All facilities are clean and sparkling. Maintenance is amazing.
Great place to live with with friendly staff , fun events and only a 5 minute walk to uni and the city center
The Fitzalan is a nice place, well equipped and well-staffed. Kate, Blaize and Richard are some of the most friendliest people around and they are really helpful. However, I feel like the place is a bit overpriced in comparison to other private CRM accommodations, so I don't think it is worth the money that you're paying for, but the facilities are very good and the location is very ideal, hence why I think the price is the way it is. Socially, the spaces are good to socialise, but the social atmosphere isn't as good compared to other CRM accommodations or University Halls, so it does take a bit of effort to get to know more people. The internet is quite reliable.
Great place with all necessary services. It is located near the city centre so you can easily access supermarkets or shopping malls. People are friendly here. I enjoy living in fitzalan and I would like to book a room for next year.
Great location with multiple different supermarkerts, restaurants bars and pubs in the area of just a few minutes walk. The big common room might be one of the best features of the accomodation and it's something that other accomodations don't have. You get to play some games and socialize. The staff is really great and polite and always trying to help.
This accommodation is really brilliant and beautiful, everything are new and clean. It's easy to walk to shops, supermarkets and my school as well. I really love the design of my room. Just the wireless network doesn't work sometimes.
I stayed at this accommodation and thought it was amazing! The staff are so friendly, it’s like they can’t do enough for you. It’s so well maintained and clean. I had the best time here!!
Everything else was fine, except for the poor wireless network, which often dropped network cards
It's one of the best accommodations in Cardiff with fantastic staff. I stay in a studio with a beautiful view of the courtyard. The location is excellent, just a few minutes away from the City Centre.
it is a gooooooood place to live, the environment, staff, common room, especially the deluxe room is so big and the price is not too high
I have been living here since the start of uni and I consider it my home away from home. The staff here are like family to me; so welcoming and helpful!
I absolutely loved my stay at The Fitzalan. Everything I wanted in a student accommodation was given. Sayyed, Richard and Kate were absolutely helpful and were there for everything I needed. Thank you for the memories and I wish everyone the best.
Due to the national lockdown I wasn't able to enjoy the facilities of the accommodation.. And that was my main concern.. I believe that the fees should have been reduced. Other than that the accommodation is a nice place. Friendly and welcoming staff. Also it has a great location.
People here at reception are really nice!
I wish I could rate 0 instead of 1 star. I’ve been paying rent for a room which I have not been able to stay in due to travel restrictions, and the neither the Fitz nor CRM have any compassion as they would not let me exit my contract. I’ve been isolated in my room as even though I have a studio so I am in a 1 person household, we are not allowed to have guests. On top of this the room a received was nothing like the room I was shown on my tour. The “music” room is a joke, if you’re an actual musician rather than a monkey who knows a few chords you’ll soon know how awful it is. Would not stay again or recommend staying, would’ve preferred my c****** of a house in Cathays from last year.
everything is fine so far, but it's better to have a exhaust hood in the kitchen.
The staff are lovely and friendly and have been doing their best to keep the students happy and social in these trying times. Will do their best to help you if you need anything, have an issue or just fancy a chat.
The experience was good, the location is the best. Plus the management staff are really friendly. Appreciate it
I’ve really enjoyed living here. The building is central and I do love my room. The staff have handled the COVID situation very well and I have been enjoying the social spaces now that they have reopened.
Great location as a student being right in the city centre. No problems with the wifi. Some lettering in the court yard area from people in the accommodation. Social experience has been limited so far due to the COVID restrictions. Potential is there with the social spaces. Good common room. Hope to use these more now they are open.
Great spaces and value for money. Walking distance from all stores in the city center. 5 minute walk to train station
Has been good personally so far. Although having bigger windows would definitely help the tenant feel stuffy or claustrophobic. Having a terrace to relax would be great too because some people find great comfort in heights and a good view. Accommodation is good but the place is full because no one tends to mingle so many having more social events would encourage everyone to indulge with others outside their circles. Review of the room accommodation structure alone is definitely very good.
Fantastic multicultural accommodation with plenty of activity. The safest and most friendly location in town, home from home!
