Staying at The Lansdowne was a great experience for me as a student. The location is ideal, close to the city centre and universities with good transport links. The building offers excellent facilities, including a well-equipped gym, communal areas and secure bike storage. The apartments are modern, spacious and comfortable, with great views and plenty of storage space. Overall, I would highly recommend The Lansdowne to students looking for a premium living experience in Birmingham.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation

What tenancy length do I need?

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.

Should I stay in catered student accommodation?

This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.

What is a guarantor and do I need one?

A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.

Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?

Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.

What bills will my rent include?

If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.

What is purpose-built student accommodation?

Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.

Will my student accommodation be furnished?

Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Excellent apartments in a perfect location. Accessing UoB takes 15 minutes (3 min train from Five Ways station to University), city centre is also within walking distance. The building is clean and safe. Each apartment comes with top-notch appliances and the building offers convenient public zones for study/work or coffee breaks. There is also a post room, a gym and a lift for bulky items and a member of staff on-site 24/7. You can also book a viewing online. The internet is included in the rent and is reliable and fast enough. Note, though, that if you are a student with e.g. EPSRC sponsorship that pays you a scholarship, it will not be counted towards your income. So you will either need another proof of income or a guarantor.

It’s an excellent experience to live here, people in this place are all friendly and nice, look like being well educated, no noise could be heard. The environment is also fantastic, including free fitness room and cultural room, which provide huge convenience for people live here. I’ll recommend my friends to live here!

The location is great, you have Morrisons right across the street with Subway, Starbucks and Dominos etc. nearby, also surrounded by nice local shops and restaurants such as La Pop. The five way train station and bus stations are not far away, easy to get to university, with walking distance to city centre. Despite of its great location, it is quiet and peaceful. You can enjoy a quiet night and have a sound sleep. The traffic noise is not a thing because of terrific soundproofing. The views from the top are beautiful. During spring and summer time, the sunshine will exactly fall on the sofa from 7.pm to 9.pm. The concierge is helpful and whenever you need help, just let them know. It also has a range of activities organised by the management team, such as watching EURO 2024 together. The common area is great. The gym is new and clean. The facilities in the room are modern and decent. And no need to worry about noisy neighbour as management team take it seriously. Perfect for student.
