Talbot Campus is good, good range of places to eat, Fusion building is great.
Spent a year of my life, and £9000 at BU and wish I could take it all back. I studied Events Management, and we were hardly in uni at all. Some weeks I was in two days, some weeks one, and they count PAL sessions (classes with people one year older then you, and not any wiser) as 'contact time' with tutors. I never saw one lecturer enough for any of them to give me a reference when I was leaving, and when I told the head of my year I wanted to move to AUB (literally across the road. Literally. You can see it from the window) she didn't know what uni I was talking about. But overall the biggest error was the fact that we never got to put on an actual event. This course is cobbled together from other management and business course units, so you have to study hardcore finances and economics, and then sit maths exams in them. We got to plan a 'pretend' event, but that was all. I believe in second year groups all put on different versions of the same event, but how rubbish is that?
Organisation shocking. So many errors it's a joke. Lecturers not turning up. Given incorrect exam dates. Results never given on time some as much as a week late. Marking clearly not consistent. Sent incorrect graduation details and not informed until after tickets bought and paid for. As well as getting info wrong had to lay nearly £100 to attend graduation. Student union seem to be trying hard but the clubs and societies are not great. Anytime there's an issue it takes a long time to get sorted. When we tried to make a complaint it wasn't taken seriously despite us having to pay (literally) for the errors of the uni. Wouldn't recommend.
Amazing university. Best time of my life
The thought of being thrown into an alien environment, with a host of new faces was massively daunting at first, but I was quickly able to make friends with some great people during Freshers. I was reserved in my first year, and didn't get involved in as much as I could have. Fast forward to second year, and I'm a student ambassador (A really great cause and the best job I've ever had!), A PAL Leader (one of my most rewarding experiences) and am social secretary for MASS, a society in which meatheads swap information about training, nutrition and the like. Staff at BU have always been very accommodating and you're always made to feel welcome. I study BSc Marketing (Hons) at Talbot campus so I'm especially excited to get back there after the completion of my industrial placement so I can kickback in the new fusion building, which isn't even completed yet, but already looks INSANE.
Loads of places to work and hang out very social
The clubs are very diverse and there is a lot of options
