Belaton House is pretty solid for the price! The location is super convenient, close to everything you need, and feels safe. The management team is friendly and usually on top of things when problems pop up. Social spaces are cozy (Love the pink study room), and there are some cool events to meet people. Cleaning could use a little upgrade, but it’s not a deal-breaker. Definitely would recommend it to friends!

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Great place to stay, probably if not the nicest/beat halls
Incredible staff who will help you with anything you need. And a lovely place to live
Belaton is absolutely fantastic, it is so accommodating and the team is so friendly and welcoming. The flats are well decorated and cosy, so much storage space and perfect for any students needs. Shout out to all the team, Carl, Candice, T, Lewis and Paul!
Amazing accommodation! Yes , it is expensive but the rooms are very spacious and modern. Theres so much going on, lots of student events and additional facilities that it’s well worth the money. Location is excellent , it’s very easy to get to uni , to town and to do shopping! Staff are very friendly and accommodating I felt right at home from my very first day. Can’t recommend enough!
Moving into Belaton House was the best decision I made when moving to uni. It is a modern accommodation perfect for students of any year. The team is super helpful and friendly, the management team go above and beyond to make sure you're happy and comfortable during your stay. Super accommodating and has the perfect location. Definitely recommend for any students moving to Bournemouth.
would recommend all students to live here. great facilities, staff and security
Belaton house is a very modern and welcoming place to live. The staff are absolutely lovely and helpful. Would defo recommend for any students looking to move to Bournemouth.
Loved it here!! I lived here for two years and was happy with the niceness of the staff and being to have a cinema room and gym was so helpful!
If you ever find yourself looking for accommodation in Bournemouth, belaton house is the way to go. Great staff all round, especially the maintenance guy Paul, vibrant colours on the walls to create a calming environment for all. A brilliant place to stay whilst completing your academic studies as the neighbours generally aren’t too loud and you can really feel welcome and comfortable when you step foot into the building.
Really happy with living here, the location is perfect for shopping, nights out and uni and the gym is one of my favourite parts about the whole place. Many staff members are really friendly too.
The accommodation support staff are horrendous and yes the location is good but it’s not worth the money at all. They try to trap you into inescapable contracts and do not care about your well-being. I tried to end my contract early and they said I had to find a different tenant which is completely fine but the tenant I ended up finding originally messaged Belaton House to see if there was anyone wanting to end a contract early and they said no. They actively tried to avoid me ending the contract even though another person wanted to take it over. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
A visually appealing building and halls. Standard rooms are very small and cramped. Before arrival room wasn't clean properly and my belongings from the previous year were moved without my permission even though I was told they would contact me when I had to move my things. The quality of the room and Kitchen are great when it's cleaned properly. The building is near the train station, Asda, Coop and a bus station - Location is not an issue Most of the management team are friendly and get the job done. Had an issue with the internet wired connection and they did nothing to help out. 3rd Party company, understandable but when it's taking months for them to come out and fix an ethernet box then there is a major problem. Unable to complete university work and had to locate back home because of this. Social spaces are available and are good but with COVID rules, there isn't much hope for regular use, especially the gym
One of the worst student accommodations in Bournemouth, rooms are very cramped and overpriced. Flat wasn't cleaned prior to arriving. Was run like a prison during COVID rules. Staff are nice but management don't care about any of your problems at all. We had a sofa break and they didn't fix it for 7 months despite reminding them constantly. I stayed in Home Park previously, which is cheaper and 100x better.
I lived there fore 2 years…The building is visually appealing and the first year started off well initially. However, the staff will enter your flat/studio at any time of the day without knocking; this happened to me multiple times. When I reported this issue, the apologies were lacklustre and insincere. There was little done to ensure it wouldn’t happen again. Complaints seemed to irritate Management as well and the way the pandemic was handled was horrible. There were a few members of staff that made my time staying a bit better.
Belaton House is a good location with quick access to the town centre, train station and university. The management team are excellent and provide help when available.
I’ve lived here for second year and now third year of uni. The building looks so nice on the outside and the colour schemes inside make it look so nice and modern. This is a complete rouse for the shambles of a place that it is. For starters, staff will walk into your flat/room unannounced at any given moment at any time of day and night. The latest time someone randomly walked in to do a check on a flatmates room (they were away) was 11:30pm and I was in the lounge - no knock, no hello, just walks straight in and past me. The cinema room and gym that entice many to join in the first place were always being closed for this that and the other before covid. During covid, they are just constantly closed. When the pandemic started, they really didn’t want to give any money back, despite the students not being present or able to get back during lockdown. It’s disgusting. Also, the number of times that parcels etc get lost due to the failed mail system they have going is laughable...
I’d say the location is pretty good it’s near the train station, Asda and near the clubs. However the whole time living there it had so many issues as in it was not finished yet. There was constant drilling and touch ups which was annoying. The gym and cinema room was a nice thing there but it constantly was closed. Oh and the constant fire alarm drills like to begin with 5-10 a week. It’s a nice accommodation overall.
Covid-19: Absolutely awful. They were demanding full pay even though most student returned home after following the government guidelines and following the actual university’s advice. They then were offering students stupid prize pools? The student housing company who owns belaton are just very greedy and do not care for their students at all. They then had the cheek to offer 50% off the rent off despite many of us have moved out left the key behind and are not using any of its services like hot water, electricity and gym etc. It is disgusting how they are trying to take advantage of student who are going to be huge debts anyway to pay rent when they are not living there due to these worldwide circumstances. A lot of people like me need our maintenance loan to provide for our families at home as they have been let off and we need it for food and bills. To conclude go to an accommodation affiliated with University themselves as they have their students best interest at heart.
I enjoyed living her except a huge problem was that the wifi and hot water was constantly going off and they have dealt with the covid-19 situation terribly.
Covid-19: They have not been honest from the start, constantly offering things than changing their mind. Trying to bribe us with a free stay in a University accommodation in another country for a week next year except who knows if it will be safe to fly by then! Also putting us all in "draws" to win tickets to the Tokyo olympics instead of offering us something practical such as money off.
