All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Couldn’t recommend this anymore!!!!
The staff here are lovely and are always ready to help if you have any problems or concerns! The rooms are very spacious and cosy and common room and cinema room are also really fun when you want to meet up with friends! I have really enjoyed my time here so far!!
I will cut to the chase, the biggest issue regarding my stay at St. Peter's- is that the lift hasnt been working for 4/5 months now and being up on the 4th floor, you can imagine my frustration! Kudos to the staff for always keeping us in the loop, especially Chris who has worked tirelessly to get it sorted with the lift manufacturers. However for the amount of rent we pay, issues like leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. As of yet, there has been form of reimbursement/discount on rent from CRM Students. Overall, location is great, studios are modern, stylish kitchen area, decent storage, stunning windows, tv included — much better than some other studios i've encountered. Some down sides: The bed is nice but the mattress tends to slide down the bedframe which is annoying, plus the mattress quality isnt the greatest of quality. The bathroom is small, particularly the shower but its not a vital concern for me. Also it would be great if a proper pool table was put in :)
Love our studio room! I recommend going for the double window room for couples as it’s so spacious. Right in town and bus stops right outside and nearby to get to uni. However, not much socialising.
Rooms are lovely, as are the staff.
Really good value for money, great studio rooms with everything you need. Staff are always very friendly, supportive and willing to help with whatever they can. The manager Tom is fantastic always happy and smiling.
Really modern and well equipped room. Amazing central location and the staff were amazing and really provided a personal experience making you feel at home!
This student accommodation is in an excellent location; close to the town centre, beach, and most transport links. Tom (Housing Manager) is always very friendly and helpful and assists students to the best of his abilities. Although quite expensive, you have a full studio flat that's fully furnished, and access to on-site laundry facilities.
Expensive but it worth each pound, I recommend it
