I had a great experience at my university overall including the campus facilities, the calm and beautiful surroundings, and buildings, the library facilities, comfortable and safe spaces to explore and learn, and good support and encouragement from the staff and career team. It was all the more a positive and wonderful journey.

Goldsmiths makes me feel like I’m in the right place and will never have enough time to do everything that it offers that I’d love to do.
Goldsmiths is notorious for being a leading arts university and it offers a range of very unique tertiary courses — while the university has a great collection of academic staff of real industry experience and a great sense of community among the student cohorts, where Goldsmiths is significantly falters is its administration and those who run it. Frustrations in funding and structural decisions have an impact on the institution as a whole, leading to somewhat of a disappointing experience in some aspects of learning. Overall, at Goldsmiths what you put into your course is what you get out of it — that can often mean going the extra mile or ten and doing that without support. Great university, great students, great staff, but extremely disappointing administration.

Overall due to the unis strikes and boycotts it has been very difficult to learn properly and attend lectures, most students don’t attend as uni says it’s optional, so it’s not really worth the money for the education, lectures just read of slides and complain about their pay
Very good experience, but I hope that the number of people in a class is not too large, small class teaching will be better. In addition, the school's software sometimes crashes and is difficult to use
Would benefit from more clubs (that are actually active), but understandable that there isn’t much due to many reasons, such as Covid-19 and lack of student enthusiasm.

Good range of clubs and many things to get up to, Staff in psychology are very helpful and always there for support needed. However there has been a few personal issues with the university that haven’t been solved the way i expected.

One of the most noticeable issues is the campus infrastructure. The facilities, including classrooms and study spaces, often appear outdated and in need of renovation. This can affect the overall learning experience, as modern and functional spaces can greatly enhance academic engagement. Additionally, some buildings are not adequately accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, which can be a significant barrier.
Courses are very practical, which is what I expected. However, the communication between tutors should be improved. The admin system is also disappointing
I haven’t had the general Goldsmiths experience because my course only has night lectures in a mostly exclusive building, but I’ve enjoyed my time here. The library is nice, although it needs an update. The buildings are comfortable. In general, I’ve enjoyed my experience here and have made good friends.

The worst university experience you will ever have. I m a high 1:1 UG student from KCL who went to Goldsmiths. Take it from me, you’re wasting you time and money. The lecturers are not experts. They won’t provide with any help, in fact they ll make it even more confusing and difficult for you to learn. SU is pretty much useless and they don’t have good societies to pick from. The campus heating doesn’t work so in winters you will very cold. The timetables never come out on time and the exam information is not provided up-to standard. I would not recommend. Save yourself.
Good university in South East London. Easy to get into central London and not an area that has tourists. Good level of teaching but strikes have taken away a lot of teaching time this year.

The Universities generally are good but lack facilities for well-being. They need to look and improved if students don't want to take exams
I'm a first year student so i haven't faced many issues yet. I think the quality of education is absolutely incredible.
I enjoy studying at Goldsmiths because my teachers and professors do a great job. The management of university itself is quite frustrating though. It’s really hard to get hold of people and coming here as an international students it was such a mess figuring out what how to get a visa and how to start at Goldsmiths. I wish there would have been more support. In general, I feel like I would like to have more modules in my degree or just more classes. Of course, a lot was cancelled because of strikes but in general I find that my MA could benefit from more input.

Good teachers, bad administration. Lost almost 2 months of classes due to strikes
School was so normal before the strike, there are some discontent but still bearable. Then one two three strike within the year and one can see all the flaws of this place. With only a few teachings being held throughout the year and you are on your own expected to finish your assessment. You got to ask teacher by teacher to see if the workshops will be open during the strike, there is no consistency at all. Every department is so separated, event those from the same department don't know what is happening to their students. Some teachers are overly optimistic, some pathetic, some purely indifferent over the whole situation. Nobody cares about you, you are on your own, 'you got to make something out of this situation.' How many years have it been? When you try to email and contact the Student Union on the whole crisis and request for tuition fee compensation, no one replies you. Stuck in the shabby Surrey House with ill mannered management in South East London far from everywhere.
The campus is great, close to two stations so easy to get into central London. New Cross isn’t the greatest place to live but it works. The clubs and societies are good if you like the kind of thing they offer - none really appeal to me. The student union is fun sometimes but quite small and it gets repetitive, same night every Tuesday and not much else on. Relatively cheap drinks though? I’ve never even heard of the careers service but I’m pretty sure there should be one, never used it or been introduced to it though. Wi-Fi is good in the library, university buildings and accommodation but can just randomly cut out sometimes and can be weak in places. Lecturers are lovely but I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you’re after a traditional university course especially if you’re coming for an academic based course. I cannot stress enough how art based this university is so if you’re going for an arts/music course, great, not so great for the academics.

There are all kinds of facilities in our university and I can enjoy my study in different places. There are also staff from various departments to help us meet different needs. In a word, studying here is a very happy thing.

My teachers, who I love and adore, are currently under threat of redundancy because of senior management and the management of goldsmiths don’t seem to care about teachers and/or students wellbeing
Pretty nice and chill vibe. No much stress. Library and the equipment are all great. Most of the staffs are efficient.
Goldsmiths has a socially uplifting environment especially for the design course
great people here. all very arty even on non arts courses. Library is lacking for any resources other than art/ design. arts buildings are fkn amazing but al the others are a bit crap. still, love the location cause youre in london but not really busy central london, youre far enough out that it just feels like a large town but you have access to all the best bits of london. greenwich is close by and is lovely for days out. telegraph hill too. i do enjoy it here but resources could be better
I loved my time here. It's a sdmall and close knit campus, so don't come here expecting the same vibe as a bigger university with all the bells and whistles. Everyone here is fun to hang out with, if a little pretentious sometimes- but you'll find your people. It's a space to really get involved in- you have to get involved to BE involved, opportunities and friends wont just HAPPEN- but it's such a friendly place. The lectureres are helpful, the library is great, the local area is lovely too. Loved it. Also, you have the option to attend clubs, societies and even courses from other UOL universities, so take that opportunity!
Poor student support all round. Felt more like a degree factory than a place designed to help young people through a challenging part of their lives. Very little in the way of mental health services.

It's not the best year for reviewing a university, thanks to the pandemic, but all in all I've loved my time with Goldsmiths so far.
The education and lecturers are good, just everything else not pertaining to the education aspect leaves a lot to be desired. But either way, the whole point to being there is to learn, so I don't really give a s*** about all the other stuff.
I love my university and feel so at home here :)

Though I cannot compare to any other Uni I am having a time of my life at Goldsmiths. Be outgoing, socialise with people and teacher, everyone is happy to give back.
Visit before you come here. It’s a particular vibe but if you feel right on campus then you’ll love it. Definitely an arty, political uni in a great area. It’s smaller but therefore more specialised for what it does do. Admin are typical of an art focused establishment though, expect late, vague replies.
Doing my MA at the politics department. First term was great, had really good lecturers and the lectures were interesting. Especially the art modules. However, missed two weeks due to strikes. Second term is a bit less challenging, primarily because I have chosen a module that is just not for me. Now, I'm in the fourth week of a four consecutive week strike (one week being reading week) and I'm over this. University management is trying to restructure the whole university as part of their 'evolving Goldsmiths' plan and are disregarding student protests on the matter. They don't listen to their employees and I've paid 10k for a year in which I'm missing 5 weeks of my 20 weeks of lecture. Fed up with this b******. Lots of problems with disability office. The uni is small, so every facilitation department has an academic staff member that's part of a central facilitation team. A structure that doesn't work efficiently, lots of double reporting which takes up quite some time.
I love this uni! I study international relations and chinese and I'm a second year uk student... I do think this uni is for a specific type of person... If you want that traditional uni feel DONT come here, because people here are more interested in their outside- school activities than grades. People are very studious and know a lot of information and are very bright, and they apply this to the real world a lot, through protests, organisations and activism regularly. Because it is in London, it doesn't have the traditional campus feel unless you live in the undergraduate/ masters halls of residence. You find the most creative and open- minded people here, I'm loving it and it's changed me for the better! Go Gold!

I completed the MFA Curating course here and was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED from day one until graduation. I would NOT recommend it to anyone looking for a quality education. The tutors leading this course were disinterested, unprofessional, lazy, grumpy, biased and overall the worst teaching staff I have ever encountered. The course was set up to be focused on "independent learning and research"... which later was revealed to mean that there was no real instruction or support provided and students were expected to learn and do everything on their own. Any good reputation for this school is apparently still holding from a distant past, because the current status is bleak and not worth the time and money spent to be there.
The lecturers are frequently lazy , egotistical and racialy oppressive. 'Commitment to equality and diversity' is just a phrase they write to lure you in - be warned. Their VLE is a joke and information is not uploaded in any logical way - more like hunt the thimble... The lectures are often disorganised and they rely heavily upon out of date powerpoints. Much like a Micheline star restaurant banking upon the chefs of yesteryear but really only serving reheated frozen food...That they are still charging Micheline prices for.
I would not recommend this uni, don’t bother applying especially if you want to do a psychology degree. Speaking to my peers a lot weren’t happy and felt the department was badly organised. If you’re in a stream you will constantly have issues with timetables and being put into the wrong group. Also the grades published were always incorrect and unfortunately they were not willing to help with queries most likely passing you on to someone else or not replying. Information is messaged to you an 1hr or less before labs or lectures which is so frustrating if you commute. Timetables are so inconvenient and awkward, you could come in for just 1hr or you could have a 6/7 hr gap. No rescheduling of exam topics missed due to strike. Speaking with other psychology students it seems like you shouldn’t bother appealing or doing a mitigating as the psychology board is very harsh, unsympathetic and inflexible, not even the offer of resits made to those students. My advice is APPLY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
I am doing my MSc in Forensic Psychology here. I thought my undergraduate uni was bad but this really is something else. Severe lack of communication of anything of importance with students. Wrong grades published on transcripts for students, with no explanation and no way of knowing the true grades. If you have applied for mitigating circumstances for any reason, you will not be told if it has been approved, and when I asked I was led to believe it was denied and I'd be getting a zero mark until I chased it up and it was in fact approved. Contradicting instructions regarding coursework explanations and exam resits. You'll be waiting at least 2 months for some coursework marks to arrive. We suffered weeks of no lectures due to the strike earlier this year (with a refusal to publish lecture slides or reschedule). Now it wasn't so much the strike in itself that was the problem, it was made worse when we was told the 3-4 weeks of missed topics could still come up in our exams!
This is in a different league from e.g.LSE or KINGS. Teaching staff are laid back and sloppy, and taking refuge in petty bureaucracy to avoid onerous teaching , and PARTIULARLY marking taks (ALTHOUGH PAID FOR DEARLY) 2nd rate academics' absolutely nothing inspiring. Absolutely NOT value for the huge amounts of money in anyway shape or form AVOID.
It is an amazing University recently visited on a school trip thought that the quality of training was excellent but the food needs to be better.
Biggest let down of my life. Students are clique-y, departments are badly organised and the amount of teaching does not correspond to the money you are asked to invest in your education at Goldsmiths. The careers service is no good and the Uni is not considered as highly as it claims amongst employers. Do not go, especially if you are genuinely looking to study Media and work in creative industries. Employers have told me, several times, that a Media degree does not guarantee a job in the media (you might as well go study biology and become a tv producer before I even get a job as a runner). Stay away!
If you're into arts then Goldsmiths is great - otherwise, stay away. So many students from London give it an almost Sixth Form like feel, but not in a good way. Anyone not from the South East is a rarity, the staff are weak and the reputation in most subjects is lacking. If you're grades are good enough to get in, you can go to a better uni. Look elsewhere, unless you're on an arts on related course.
Terrible university can't recommend this at all.
It's a very small campus, so things are all walking distance. However because it's so small, there is much less on offer (less societies and events, short opening hours for facilities, etc.) and since it's not central that means you have less exposure to things that other schools in London might offer. The wifi is terrible - often missing, hard to connect to, have to keep reconnecting. Have had lots of issues with really disorganised admin issues - things not appearing in their computers that should. My department was equally disorganised, none of the tutors seemed to know what was going on half the time, deadlines got changed, things weren't put on the VLE that tutors said should be there. It does have a nicely diverse student presence but I think I'd go somewhere else if I could do it again.
Everything about this university is dreadful. Student support doesn't reply to my emails, I don't like anyone on the course and there is far too much group work for my liking. As well as this, there aren't many societies on offer, and the union seems really out-of-touch.
campus is lovely, most the buildings are very nice, particularly Richard Hoggart Building and the library. seems to have invested a lot into improving over the last few years. atmosphere at the uni is amazing and inspiring, people are typically super creative, interesting people and politically engaged. love it
The university has a beautiful campus and the facilities are great. The library is open 24/7 and has plenty of facilities like computers and macs. There are a range of societies but could do with more of them and some aren't as well organised as they could be. The students union is quite expensive and not very big, the events aren't attended by many people. Careers service is great. The wifi is good, but can be quite slow. You can't really watch things like player.
Goldsmiths is definitive the best place to study media and communications and fine arts.
Although I love Goldsmiths, the WiFi is practically inexistent. Then again it makes me actually be productive.
Great thing about gold smiths is that everything is compact - all the buildings and campuses are all located within 5 minute walking distance, unlike other universities. Theres a great range of people thanks to the fine art department, and the student union does some pretty cool social/political stuff! Wifi is alright, could be better but works most of the time.

I was really nervous about starting at university but everyone at goldsmiths are so kind they have made me feel at ease. There are so many opportunities to be had at goldsmiths with their wide variety of clubs and societies.
More of a diversity in societies would be good, our SU is naff and doesn't offer half as much nights as other unis. Internet is sometimes faulty and you'll struggle to get it on your phone, even with IT Support. As for the careers services, they don't really make themselves known and you always have to approach them. It'd be great if they could organise internships with local institutions, or even put on events showing you your options. (Besides the one off part time jobs fayre- which lacks diversity in employers). Overall I feel uni could have a lot more going on
