Brilliant university, with tutors pretty good except for those who come as a guest for maybe a module. And it also helps that I like Huddersfield as a town and place to just go and chill, much better than Manchester.
The student union could do with been improved more space to hang out in the actual SU etc
hands down the beat university i looked at when choosing
Huddersfield is the intellectual graveyard of the UK. Brexiteers everywhere
A great university to go to and learn at. The social events from the societies and the union are great.
Worst uni going, tutors couldn’t care less. Micky mouse degrees are all they do there. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else unless you want to be in crippling debt for the next 30 years
The university itself has brilliant facilities, the library has various floors with many computers and laptops to use, they have private study rooms which book up incredibly fast, so many that’s something to think about in the future. The SU has so many different food stations and the SU Shop, the food stations could be open for longer if possible as they only seem to be open for breakfast and lunch, and when you’re in the library all day working on an essay it’s handy just to nip out to the food stations and grab some food then go back to work, instead of settling for a sandwich from the shop or having to go into Huddersfield town for your evening meal. I never joined any clubs or societies, but I did use the onsite gym- they had some amazing classes available and the gym was fully equipped with all the standard machines and equipment you’d expect and membership was incredibly affordable. The uni also has a careers fund to help you fund your next steps into working life.
I’ve just completed a BAhons in Drama at the “UoH” and it’s safe to say it has been the best experience of my life. The facilities are brilliant, the Drama building has 3 studios, 2 rehearsal room and much more I can’t fit into this review. All of which students can book to use pretty much every day of the week outside of classes. In terms of performance techniques there is so much on offer at UoH, there is something for everyone from acting, to magic, to physical theatre and then some! The tutors at UoH are fantastic, nothing is too much, they give constant feedback via brightspace and in person during classes. They set up essay skills drop in sessions. They help you to better your skills at every turn in your degree. The one thing I would change about Drama, is having a proper lecture theatre, taking lectures in the studios on the audience seating made taking note difficult as there were no tables, lap rests were available but not exactly the best alternative.
Had a fantastic time at UoH, a great course with lovely people
University of Huddersfield has a lot to offer to it's students, SU has a large contribution and their advice centre is very helpful being full with very nice people who encourage you and help you find the best solution. The wellbeing centre is always a good solution if you are struggling.
