Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
The accommodation is well managed and very good, organizing different events keeping everyone involved and taking care of everyone.
Wonderful experience. Good environment and convenient location. Kind and helpful staffs.
I like living in Saw Mill. The accommodation has made my uni experience better. Its close to uni, there’s a gym five mins away and several fast food places close. The staff are really friendly too.
The accommodation is nice and the kitchens are large. Staff are always friendly and willing to help and problems are sorted quickly.
Very lovely staff, everyone’s friendly, big enough to socialise and get to know people. Maintenance are always prompt to fix issues
Staff are lovely and we get lovely gifts
It’s a very modern building and all the staff are amazing. Craig and Jess are always so friendly and I have enjoyed my time here so so much I couldn’t recommend it more
Craig and Jess are great, they make living here very easy and comfortable
Craig and Jess are always there to help and have a chat, the rooms are a great size. The events that are planned throughout the year are a great way to have fun with friends or meet new people.
Security took photos of me outside my bedroom window at night
Lovely staff always welcoming and wanting to help and support you in any way they can. Lovely spacious rooms at a decent price, with cleaning from maintenance every two weeks. Activities to do and often do little giveaway bags and prizes, makes university experience good. Met lovely people and really enjoyed my time here.
Very good security and lovely staff. 10/10 would recommend xcx
Jess and Craig have been extremely helpful during my stay at Saw Mill. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and they are always happy to have a chat with the students about how they are doing and anything they can do to improve. The maintenance and housekeeping services offered are top notch. If an issue arises, they fix it immediately and without fuss. All the staff at Saw Mill are a credit to Capitol Students.
The accommodation is the perfect distance away from the university campus. The reception allows for plenty of socialising with the pool table, table tennis table and seating area and as a whole is very good value for money for what you are provided with.
Irrelevant as stayed at home so
It's a good hall, just a s*** roommate
Staff wouldn’t care of you slit your wrists in front of them as long as they get your rent on time and you pay for all the damages you never caused.
Saw mill was definitely the best place for me, it’s only a 5 min walk and is surrounded by shops and takeaways which is always helpful.
