Great uni and facilities very nice
Diverse and inclusive. Great place to study in.
Absolutely the best university to learn Business Management. I’m in year 2 and I’ve learnt alot of skills already that would be very useful for my future career
Perfect and lovely school for an international student. Staff and lecturers are welcoming easily approachable.
Chelmsford campus ARU - No support given from most of the staff. There was little support during courses for assignments, as well as the Uni being very difficult and challenging when it came to contacting the finance with NHS and Gov about the correct dates of being a student. After trying to get ARU to pull their fingers out and actually sort out the mess they made when it came to having emergency time off, 10months later and they’re still ignoring their mistakes. Some lecturers had no idea about their own course, practically no contact time in uni, and poorly planned syllabus.
I am third year Interior Design student at Anglia Ruskin University Cambridge. I experienced racist behaviour, harassment, verbal aggression, microaggression, stereotyping, discrimination, defamation, malicious gossip, unfair treatment, unfair grading and many more that I can keep listing that I experienced this last year from the beginning to the end of my course year by the tutors. I did reported this initially in January when thee situation happened but it was brushed off and ignored. Now I have reported this all situation again and it keeps getting brushed off and justifying the tutors behaviours ignoring all the prove that I provided that shows that the tutors have been acting maliciously in regarding to my grading. The tutor have been making comments about me trough the course of the year, calling me angry and telling other students to keep their distance from me and may other occurrences. Other assessments were also grades insufficient by this tutors.
The Uni as a whole is okay however there are societies that are very unwelcoming and clique like, the some buildings have not been kept up to a decent standard and eduroam does not always work and there is not an alternative
Current 2nd year medic and love the structure of my course I’m also a plant mum and my campus sits on a river bank in a forest so love that for me
Nice environment and good options to choose to live here. Donna manager is very helpful to support any problems.
ARU is an outstanding facility for education and learning. I’m in my second year and all the staff have been wonderfully accommodating of me.
Absolutely DO NOT go anywhere near this university. The lecturer are totally hands-off and then at the end of the semester push the feedback about the students needing to be more engaging. Five degrees across three countries and I can say this is the worst experience I've ever had.
No complaints worth mentioning
i like aru. i've made good friends and my lecturers are really helpful and friendly
ARU has a good sized facility, including a whole separate facility for the healthcare course that’s well equipped at the Cambridge site. The societies/clubs have been a lot of fun. Namely, the sports clubs, in my case taekwondo. I have met so many friends here, and had the opportunity to participate in fun events like competitions and dinners and other social events. It’s also allowed me to grow, as I never thought I could actively take part in such a sport, but it has been encouraging and fun
Decent place to study, kind faculty members
Great uni - amazing facilities. Great location in town. Plenty of social clubs and activities to join in on.
Sporting opportunities are good
I am having the best time of my life
Aru is good sometimes although sometimes not
Its great, a wonderful university.
Completely fine as a school, especially for those with limited options. Nothing overly special but could be far worse.
Social experience has been excellent, the university buildings are good. However can’t comment on societies and some aspects as I haven’t been too involved.
The university is modern and has lots of facilities. They do offer 1-pound meals for students which is very impressive. All the lecturers are friendly
The Cambridge Campus feels somewhat neglected. For instance, the heating was off in the library so much so that students brought duvets in to study there and were wearing coats and could literally see our breathe in there. A window was broken on our first class of term in September, it’s now almost March the following year and it’s still broken (fully smashed, not just stuck, the glass is shattered!). The sockets don’t work in most of the lecture theatres, meaning you have to bring multiple device when you have 4 hour long classes in there. Meanwhile, the university are bragging about their brand new state of the art campus they’ve just opened in Peterborough, and about their Chelmsford campus. Most of the tutors for our course are from the Chelmsford campus, which Means their offices are in Chelmsford so those students get much more support than the 1 day a week we get at Cambridge.
Had lots of fun studying here, met some amazing people
I thoroughly enjoy studying at ARU and am extremely happy with all aspects of it. The staff are fantastic, my course is engaging and exciting and the facilities on campus are second to none.
Fantastic university! Very happy!
I haven’t used a lot of what I have available but from what I have used I wouldn’t be able to label any faults, happy to spend the rest of my degree here
The bathrooms are not always clean and the cateer center does not cater for internasonale students
Good university but need to have more staff because their communication is not the best
the uni is fine. love my course friends
A causal, chilled environment throughout. friendly faces and opening environment to ask questions and develop more as individual with all the help of societies and student services
I don’t spend much time on campus but when I do go there I can always find a good place to sit if I need to do any work. There are plenty of areas to eat on campus and close by.
I haven’t been here that long but so far I quite like it here :)
Really good facilities and teachers
Excellent university with amazing teaching staff
Department specific staff are great, love the Christian Union (CU)
Amazing and brilliant and wow and wow
aru is a great uni who are here to support anyone that feels like they need. Couldn’t be happier where i am
The university is very nice and the campus is big and full of different spaces to study and hang out with friends. Teachers offer amazing support.
ARU is a great university to be at, it’s got amazing staff who are enthusiastic about they’re lectures and really know what they’re talking about which makes it that much better. I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far and the support provided by either the Students Union or the well-being team really help with any problems you may have. Basically a top tier uni!
I've encountered some difficulties but the university has been quick to offer help and to get them sorted. My course lecturers (media studies) are so lovely and supportive, and so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable in their fields.
A fantastic university. I felt heard as a student by the faculty of English language and linguistics. Teachers are impressive, and helpful . It has been 2 and half years that I am studying , honestly linguistics is a very hard subject to crack on but with the help of the university teachers it is going smoothly. I feel more confident and ready to face the life challenges ahead. Overall, I am respected as a human at my university. The university has shaped me into my best version.
University and staff are all lovely. So helpful. Many places to study and excellent wifi
Great facilities and large range of societies. Students union always keep in touch with everyone and help you with any questions.
As I'm doing a distance learning MSc none of the above stars apply. I have found this course difficult because of the many online systems used by the University. The student advisors for learning are fantastic, but student support is both ICT and for any personal issues have poor communication. The good tutors are fantastic and highly supportive, but other newer tutors need more training and understanding over what they teach. The reliance is on you to find out everything which can make it hard going when they use three platforms. The admin support provided on the course is super supportive.
decent uni again cant really complain and its pretty good for my course
Internet and facilities of the university are good but unfortunately poor teaching, under qualified staff, awful organisation and poor placements ruin the learning experience.
Decent university nice and quiet
All the lecturers are so nice and always keen to help, the university’s is nice, all the staff are friendly and I’ve made really good friends here.
All round good university, I would recommend
There are many clubs/societies and if there isn’t one you want, you can make your own! Facilities are great. Wifi works great but very occasionally crashes. Career service are always there. A lot is available, you just have to reach out for it
No future, just close location to London is the only advantage
University is great, helpful teachers and students. Library can be a bit busy but I guess that is very much so expected in a university
Had trouble from the start with my uni email and account. Seminars are on Monday before my lectures which are ONLINE on a Friday. Not helpful.
It’s a good university with a good delivery of programmes.
Good experience overall. Location apt
A great university with a larger diveristy of different people and cultures. Great location.
Have hardly been on campus, so unsure.
The facilities for my quantity surveying course is brilliant with all the equipment needed to carry out tasks which really helps get a practical understanding. There is also plenty to allow for big classes to use them. Excellent teaching rooms as well with brilliant career advisers and staff.
I’ m In the second year of International Business Management, I am proud to be part of this community. During the lock down classes were not affected as the university implemented and excellent the use of different technologies to provide online classes. Teacher and module leader were working very hard to provide the best knowledge to students. In addition, with the support of other department such professional skills and employability skills and be able to enter into the professional market as a administrator and payroll officer for important company before to finish my course. This is so important because may help me to learn and increase my business awareness and be ready to take new challenges after the completion of my academic studies. I recommended this University because provide foundation year to mature student that are looking to move their self into the next career level With professional support of online library, mentors, tutors and online module informatiAl.
I am very happy with the university
It’s a good university however it could have been better In. Terms of events for the students.
Anglia Ruskin university is a good uni where you’ll meet people from various countries. It is great for socialising.
ARU is hands down the worst uni to study at unless you are a medical student. The level of discrimination against student that are not studying medicine is shocking. It’s strange to me because they don’t even have any graduate doctors yet! Their medical students are the Uni golden students. ARU medical students have been given access to renovated accommodation spaces and are also assigned to live in a block together (this allows the medical students to have an advantage, as they are able to live and socialise with the people on their medical course) other students are scattered all over the accommodation campus and accommodation campus and their rooms are not updated. My bedroom was dirty when I moved in and the carpet was blue with mould. The medical students have modern wooden floors. ARU also neglect the mental health of other students. Young nursing students are Expected to travel to Southend for placements with no support! The worst part is that ARU has given medical student acc
Don't go to ARU! The Campus in Cambridge is quite nice and I was impressed. But that's it for the positives, the quality of lectures and seminars is so poor. I feel like I've wasted 3 years and almost 30k. Some of the teachers don't respond to emails and seems they don't care (of course there are few good ones as well). The wifi doesn't support the number of students and it had crushed during an exam causing problems and unnecessary stress. After 3 months of studying my timetable is still wrong, I didn't have all the modules on my ARU website (so did 90% of my colleagues) and the grades were meant to be approved and published 2 months ago and still haven't been. When asking the staff about all the delays no one seems to know the reason for this or an answer. This is just so unorganized!
I didn't have the opportunity to do many things yet. I'll wait for the activities to reopen.
ARU is a uni that has a wide range of students. It’s a great place to learn new things and meet new people. There’s a good mix of both home and international students all of which are all willing to learn and enjoy their time at uni.
Everything is perfect to stay and lovely staff
The university is okay I suppose. I can’t say much as much of my learning has been remote due to COVID
Aru is a good university. Their systems crash. They don’t give much attention to students until the student puts pressure on the uni
Everything can be fixed very quickly. The staffs is very friendly. Good place to live in.
Good university. Supportive lectures
Nice uni, covid-19 effected all aspects, but there is still a lot of online events
Professors tend not to be proficient at teaching, feels demotivating
I don't really know about the clubs and societies so I'm not able to say anything else but everything else is good.
Good health building for my course
Young street campus - exceptional facilities and helpful staff.
I like Anglia Ruskin and the teaching they offer. I love my classes and lecturers.
Good uni with amazing teaching and staff
Anglia Ruskin University Cambridge is a fine and pleasant institution, where the staff, lecturers and tutors are great in helping you along with the course you’ve chosen and offering appropriate support. Due to COVID and lockdown I can’t review clubs and societies as these have been postponed for safety reasons
I arrived this year only so I did not had the chance to spend a lot of time on the campus.
The emails response are very slow.
A great university that does what you need and has a super supportive cohort of staff at your finger tips. I was able to do a niche course with some wonderful teachers.
Great staffing. Marketing staff are wonderful
Facilities could be improved by providing some where to park, and career service could give better feedback on CVs
With Covid there has not been much chance to review the facilities at ARU
Due to Covid-19 most club have been closed. There are plenty of societies to join but it wouldn't be the same since they are done online and not in person.
Biggest mistake in my life coming to this university. Poor quality teaching lectures read from a book, teach yourself course, alongside unprofessional and inadequately qualified staff (one around 35 yrs old dated a 19 year old student), makes for a highly uninspiring learning environment. Accommodation had paper thin walls, complained about loud music at late nights - Nothing done.
Terrible University. Un-interested lecturers, practically no contact time in uni, and poorly planned syllabus. Course provided absolutely no practical work, despite advertisement of getting to use high tech lab equipment. Don't waste your money, behaviour of the university seniors is either totally negligent, or fraudulent.
Overall I had a good time and would come Back when I actually enjoyed it
the most terrible uni I have ever experienced, no organisations, no support, just nothing. they said next year everything will be about 'teamwork' but do they know how to be a team? NO
It’s overall a good university but many of the lecturers are quite rude and unhelpful and will do things such as shout at students who walk in a few minutes late to a lecture which seems very unprofessional and secondary school-ish.
Could have never asked for better supporting uni
there are some things that need to be changed
ARU has been incredible to study at, brand new state of the art facilities for my course were amazing, socially ARU was like one huge, diverse, friendly family. I never thought I would get so much support at uni from staff (as I was always told uni was much more independent) but if you ever need anything or are struggling (with anything - whether it be the course, finances, personal life, etc.) they offer so much support, and if they can't help directly they will find you someone who can. I will forever be grateful for my time at ARU, and will certainly miss it.
I’ve had the best uni experience at ARU, the staff and students are so great and there’s always activities to do outside of uni work!
