Anglia House is within walking distance from Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), and just a short cycle from the University of Cambridge. What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Anglia house is generally a nice place to live. The rooms are nice, the beds are comfy ish, the kitchens are spacious and have good equipment. The common room and study room are nice (haven’t been able to use either much this year because of Covid). The location is good, it is near a Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, and more. However the security team at night/weekends is not great. That’s the only con. It’s really changed my views about living here next year. However

Our common room with TV area and study room social spaces can still be booked at reception and with the road map out of lockdown looking posotive we hope to have more social events coming to Anglia House soon. I am sorry to read that you are not totaly satisfied with our security services. Your feedback is invaluable in allowing us to better understand where we are performing to an excellent standard and areas we can look to furter improve. My value for money isn’t great as I pay £195 a week to be in a room. The location is good but obviously could be better. But is really good. Management is good. Cleaning is good when it comes to doors and handles etc. Not much social spaces. Not allowed to socialise. WiFi can be s*** sometimes. Security need to get their s*** together

Modern, stylish accommodation and great room layout. Spacious bedroom sizes, kitchens all equipped with expensive gadgets (ie ovens, microwaves, lighting...). Super friendly staff and night security make you feel safe and a great location. Tesco, Asda, Lidl and Aldi in walking distance. Only issue is shared hoovers and washing machines are not cleaned as regularly.

A great advantage to our building is the 24 hour site team. When the office staff go home our security team step in to keep our residents secure in the knowledge that they have 24/7 staff support on site. With 4 super markets within walking distance there is no excuse not to be maximising the full potential of the equipment in our kitchens and cook up some fabulous dishes for yourself & your flatmates. If it is raining outside and you dont feel like getting out of your pyjamas you can get supermarket delivery to reception (you just need to meet the delivery driver at the desk to receive). The site team have taken on board your feedback reagrds the hoovers and washing machines. As of last week we have a new addition to our team and Donna our Housekeeper will be on site Mon-Fri to ensure the building communal areas and equipments are kept in good clean working order. Generally good, close to shops and the river, no access to social spaces during lockdown, staff are generally friendly, some rooms can be dark if facing away from sun. Overall good experience but definitely pricey

I just wanted to take the time to let you know that during lockdown our social spaces (Common room & Study Room) can still be used subject to the following booking system. You can book either space at reception where we have a booking log. The space can be used either individualy or with flatmates from the same cluster flat. You will then need to let reception know when you finish so we can apply an enhanced clean to the space before the next booking. We agree we have a beautiful location just a stones throw from Cambridge River (Famous for the annual Cambrigde Oxford Boat Race), where you can pack up a picnic and stroll room to river in under 1 minute. The staff at Anglia house is lovely and they are always happy to help- Anglia house's team regularly plan events for students so they’re not bored (specially in lockdown) and their safety measures are good. I booked a studio with my couple and I’d do it again since I’m very happy with the Accomodation choice I made. Only inconvenience (probably not for everyone) this accomodation does not have a GYM. However, the common room is quite big and there’s a ping pong table (which I think is great)

Just a 10 minute walk to ARU and even faster if you choose to take advantage of the essential Cambridge transport (Bike!!) There are rooms for BA students but they are overpriced and awful. If you go unfurnished which means no bedding it’s £60 roughly a night.
I can be many more rooms for study or meeting however this place is lovely!
