Overall I like living here as a student, there are many shops nearby for any shopping such as food and there are loads of trams,buses ect.

Hydrogen offers high-quality studios for students in the heart of the city, with countless amenities right on its doorstep, including convenient transport links. It's also conveniently just a five-minute walk to Nottingham Trent University, so the location couldn’t be more ideal for students.
The building features a cosy common room and a buzzing calendar of social events to join, arranged by the dedicated team of staff who are on-site 24 hours a day. There are four types of studio apartments to choose from, to suit all budgets. The self-contained studios include a bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom and come with a double bed, great study space, and plenty of storage.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Everything has be pleasant thus far, my only complaint would be that when I moved in to my room it had not been cleaned from when a previous tenant was living there. The extent of this was an unclean toilet that had been used (!), un hoovered floors and unwiped surfaces. I also notices that some other rooms had be refurbished ready for tenants this year, and I was also promised that my room would be repainted but it is yet to be completed or followed up.

My experience has been good with hydrogen. The staff is quite helpful all the time. The facilities are great. The best part is , it is hardly 2 mins from NTU city campus. I can literally see the university building from my room. :)

Great location. If you are NTU City Campus it is opposite the accommodation. It is right next to the tram stop so very easy to get to the station and food shops. The social spaces are well kept and a good place to get your uni work done if you don't want to be in your room. The reception are great as they are 24/7 so you can collect parcels whenever and they are patient and friendly. They give out free food each week along with the other weekly events they hold. It's a great way to meet with other students. I would recommend this accommodation!

Location is so perfect! Love how many events are hosted. The staff are so helpful and welcoming, there is always someone on reception/on site 24 hours a day, if there is any issues to help with. The maintenance man Jay is also very helpful, he always fixes things quickly. The social spaces are always clean and tidy. I would recommend staying here, it’s so close to everything in town.

In the winter the heating in the rooms broke down for three weeks before it was repaired. The reception was always empty after the afternoon and evening, but the door was open. the hostel had problems with the hot water system for three months, for three months there was no hot water and only lukewarm water for showering. There was also a problem with the drinking water, not only me but many other people in the hostel had diarrhoea because of the unclean water. The mattresses in the rooms were too old and were never replaced. The only good thing about the hostel is the location.

Amazing place, with a very convenient location. The property management is quick, efficient, understanding, and supportive. I never had issues with cleaning, wifi, or social spaces, everything seems to be in order. Any maintenance issues are resolved within hours and are communicated clearly and efficiently through email. Any issues i brought up were solved within a 2 day span. I joined in September 2023 as a transfer from another property due to maintenance,and if I had the money I would definitely book again, the only issue I would mention is silverfish in my studio, and this is hard to fix, the most I can do is spray them and keep the place clean.
Really enjoy staying in Hydrogen and with specifically with the help of Ms. Kristy Johnson. She is very friendly, helpful, understanding and Co-operative during my stay. Because of her excellent marketing skills, I took the decision of choosing Hydrogen as my Accomodation. I enjoy staying in Hydrogen and looking forward to rest of my tenancy.

I have lived at Hydrogen since Nov22 and move out in September23. My experience has been very positive. The staff on reception are so friendly and helpful- around 24/7, and follow up issues quickly. The social spaces are modern and a great space to work in. They put on events fairly regularly, but maybe not quite as often as other student roost buildings- more events/activities would’ve been good. My room was a great space- (I had a silver studio), and it was big and modern (gray carpets and gray walls, unlike the photos that look much more run down) but am aware not all rooms are updated yet. I was on the 1st floor and expected lots of noise, but the windows block out most of the noise and it’s actually really quiet at night! Shower, heating and hot water works perfectly, unlike what some of the reviews say. Location is fantastic, bus service, tram service and NTU city campus all within 5 min walk- and right in central city centre. Overall, really loved my time at Hydrogen!

Generallly would recomend, particularly for its location. Room was good and in good conditions when I moved in. Could have more or better social spaces, but otherwise no complains.
Right next to city campus, town centre, and tram stop so it's easy to get everywhere I need to go. Decent rooms, dirty when I first moved in though, stains all over my carpet which still haven't been sorted after living here for almost 8 months now (they said when I moved in it was a priority of theirs). Good security, friendly receptionists. Very expensive for what you get in my opinion.

If you can afford it, Hydrogen is a great place to live. The location is unbeatable. However, BEWARE if you live on a high floor when it's warm. The rooms turn into ovens and the heat is unbearable. I lived on the top floor and fans/air coolers do nothing. It's something they should address.

The sound insulation is very poor, you can often hear noise from the walls and outside the door in the middle of the night
Having been offered early arrival to our room at Hydrogen, we have taken the opportunity to slowly move in slowly and get used to the city centre before our second year starts in September. Every member of staff has been wondering and any issues have been dealt with within 24 hours. The room is better than we could have imagined and has plenty of space for me and my partner. Absolutely amazing accommodation.
Staff are exceptionally friendly and understanding where there are any issues. The facilities are very nice and good for students. I would recommend for first years especially. Very clean accommodation compared to others.

I feel like its not worth the money they're charging. I also notice how they say staff is 24 hours available but when I go to see them at 3am nobody's there and the door's locked. I feel like if I'm paying so much money for a good room, I should at least have a washer and a drier in my room too.
Hydrogen is a great place however it’s pretty costly... the common area is a bit uncomfortable space to be in.. better to change it to something more relaxing than formal approach...
