I stayed there last semester. Among all good things at Glenamara, the best is the exceptionally customer service hy the reception staff especially Kyle Stalker. He is very friendy, caring and helpful staff member who is willing to listen and attend quickly for any requests. He is a pleasant character to deal with always.

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
I made friends for life living in Glenamara. Sharing a bathroom I thought would be a massive problem but it ended up not being a bad deal at all.
The accommodation is generally okay.
Cheap, value for money accommodation. Could be way cleaner in rooms and public places upon initial arrival. Maintenance app is solid and repairs are relatively fast.
It was a very pathetic experience. I was living in the ground floor, we literally had mushrooms growing in our toilets. Water leaking from the false ceiling, hot water issues, shower flooding every other day, mould in toilet, rooms and whatnot.
Was charged £20 for a kay that I never asked for, never needed, never got, and I'm pretty sure didn't exist. Sodexo didn't care and demanded the payment. I asked what due diligence they have in place to confirm the person asking for a key is who they say they are instead of passing the fine onto someone else - didn't reply probably because they just take you at your word, allowing incident students to be fined and threatened with lawsuit that will damage their credit score and immigration status for a key they never asked for. Oh, and if you want to appeal the charge, you better be able to provide evidence that you didn't ask for the key - which totally isn't impossible.

Just avoid this place. We were left without a working shower, the bathroom door wouldn’t close, the light wouldn’t work, we had damp all over the ceiling that gave me a nasty cough. Not to mention being regularly kept awake and woke up at 6 in the morning by groups of lads off their faces on god knows what and screaming girls. The accommodation team are useless and the place is more like a youth hostel.
You literally get what you pay for, I stayed here first year and personally wish I’d have stayed in trinity square or something. There are no social spaces except a tiny area in entrance that would fit 6/7 people maximum, very quiet on a weekend compared to other accoms I visited. Boiler broke a lot along with WiFi which is shocking. Bedrooms are alright but only some have been updated, kitchens okay but in some flats you had to share one oven between 7 which is ridiculous
Covid-19: Didn’t get a response when I emailed the person in charge regarding a money matter which I feel is very unprofessional

Value for money is average, shared kitchen/bathroom & a side toilet and shower. The bedroom is where the value really is - it is somewhat spacious and very well laid out. You may want to stick a TV on the windowsil though since the long desk is off to the side. Plenty of shelves and storage & a decently big sink. The location is great. Right next to City library/student union & a 5ish minute walk away from Northumberland St. Bus stop to coach Lane is just over the bridge & across the road. Cleaning, if you have flat mates like mine, is terrible. Pro tip: buy some cheap flip flops so you don't need to expose your precious bare feet to the fungal infected catastrophe that is the bathroom/shower/toilet floor. It may not start off grim but once 8 people begin taking daily showers it'll sharp get there. Social spaces are limited to: uncomfortable stained-sofas and metal stools in your kitchen, a small area with three 2-person sofas and a tv in clear shot of the entrance and staff desk
''It's what you make of it'' is by far the worst way to describe these Halls. I spent my first year in these so called refurbished halls and no matter what they say no amount of work can ever make them acceptable. They call them sociable but what they should say is it's a drug house and the only socialising is at 4am keeping anyone who actually has lecturers or exams or work awake. The house management don't understand the meaning of a contract because they breach it on a weekly basis at least; entering flats with sometimes no notice and very rarely 24 hours, making demands that take away the point in paying to live there and leaving students sat in the dark or with no hot water or even ants in CLEAN kitchens because repairs aren't ever seen as urgent enough. The fact these halls are run by Sodexo the company who also run prisons around the UK suggests it all because it is like an open prison rather than a safe enjoyable environment for student living.
It is what you make it, I'm enjoying my time here to be honest, but will not stay here again. You pay for what you get
Lots of smoking in rooms tobacco ? Poor supervision by university. To many interlopers invading other people's living space.
It's been good I will miss it slightly be glad to be moving on
Very social halls, kind of pay for what you get though... If you don't mind basic living then it's fine. Great location to other halls and the university campus.
Very basic, nowhere comfy for the whole flat to sit together.
This hall is good for people who enjoys social life, ie partying etc.
100% recommend, so sociable. Cheap and cheerful, fabulous for your first year at university!
