It is such a cool place to stay with all the facilities and maintenance. But the only drawback is, it's quite old to apartment. The looks of the rooms are not so modern. Except that everythig is well maintained and looked after. Lovely staff.

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
Overall nice could improve security and management

If you’re looking for cheap accommodation in Newcastle, Garth Heads is probably the best for low-budget students. It’s obviously not as nice as the more expensive places, but as long as you have good flatmates you probably won’t have many issues.
Will recommend this accomodation. Value for money and the service is on point
It is a accommodation which is very close to city center, close to the university by walking distance. In fact, it is also close to the Quayside where it is a great place to enjoy your late afternoon by sitting on the bench and enjoying the view of Millennium Bridge. Totally recommend to students who are looking for an affordable place to stay while studying in UK as it has social spaces and free access to gym. The staff is also helpful and always be there to help.
It was a good experience leaving in Garth Heads as I was unable to find more centrally located accommodation. Other aspects of the place (cleanliness, social spaces, etc) make up for the inconvenient location and I would recommend it.
Have stayed at Garth Heads for my whole 3 years of uni and would recommend it to other people (have already recommended it to a friend). The location is great, being only a 20 minute walk from city centre and a 5 minute walk from the quayside, as well being very close to Northumbria Uni. I’ve not found an accommodation cheaper than Garth Heads and that is a big factor in why I chose it - especially given the current cost of living crisis. All around, it’s a great place to stay with a wonderful team of people looking after it and always being there to help when you need it
One of my friends told me about this and I think it's just right and even more for the price you pay for it. The receptionists are very friendly and helpful and the apartment is in a very acceptable condition in which Ii stayed for close to 1 year.
Staying in Garth Heads since sep 2021 till date has been nothing but amazing. The management Carla and her team are amazing. They've been kind( e.g when I moved in, there was quarantine and I knew no one so I could get myself kitchen utensils to use, but Carla and her team gave me plates and mug and was given short access to the store close by to get food), they have been helpful( sometimes when I get stuck with delivery issues and I ask Carla, she nicely gives me options to help with my situation), they have been responsible ( they don't ignore any complaint my flatmates and I make as regards the flat and maintenance is on point), and they have been friendly ( coming into the UK as a foreign student, I learnt a 'culture shock ' that I still find annoying. Where people don't greet or respond to greeting just because they don't know you which is the reason I have gotten when I asked why. I still don't get it though, It's simple courtesy. However, Carla and team are different .
Great location but the building is quite old. No elevators so its quite inconvenient for the tenants live on upper floors. Insufficient universal space.
Value for money, peaceful atmosphere. Good service, friendly staff.
It’s a wonderful place where the value of money deals with
It's great experience, good rooms
Homely environment, and it’s also kept very clean all the time. The people at the reception are also very helpful.
Great staff. Friendly people. Had a wonderful year here.
The support team is really lovely.
Perfect accommodation, I needed a short term stay for 2 months, and I was even able to get a monthly installment! There are not many accommodation in Newcastle like this. I highly recommend.
Lovely staff and great facilities, I would stay here again if I came back to Newcastle!
It's a definitely value for money accommodation, close to city centre, peaceful and warm management staff
Its amazing service overall, maintenance, cleaning everything
The best place to have an excellent university time with all areas of needs under close vicinity and promoting a good social environment. The facilities offered here is best for price and the maintenance department is awesome. I would recommend this for all f
Value for money. Nice experience with friends.
The rooms are really good. I like the fact that the accommodation is so close to the quayside. All the facilities are very good. The only thing I’d want you to change is improving the rooms to be more soundprood.
My stay at Garth Heads has been splendid. Serene atmosphere for an accommodation as well as quality facilities that make one's stay worthwhile.
It’s a lovely place to stay as a student. Every member of the Garth heads team are approachable and always willing to help. I’ll always recommend Garth heads to students.
The space is clean, friendly, and staff absolutely amazing! Carla, Sophie and Dave are super kind, generous and helpful. They make us feel right at home and looked after.
Worth the price you pay. Very near to Northumbria business Building and to city centre. The only problem is that it has no lifts. Staffs are very helpful. Maintenance is good . Again it all boils down to your flatmates. I was lucky to get good flatmates. Will definitely recommend this property to any upcoming student.
High value for money. Sleeping giant infact.
There are always freebies, breakfast, and holiday storage. Very accessible manager. There is always an event to mark.
