Being only 15 minutes away from Newcastle University and the city centre has been amazing. It frees up so much time outside of classes for your personal commitments. In the 3.5 years I have been here, all staff have been very accommodating and non-judgmental with any support I needed. I would attribute a major portion of why I enjoyed my experience here in Newcastle to my stay with the View.

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
I have been a tenant here for a year and what can I say? The View staff, inclusive of all members, have been family away from family. Always there and quick to respond, The View staff have been helpful and very cooperative through the thick and the thin and for all sorts of queries. The continuous communication through email for any announcements make matters like maintenance and else less stressful and there is always security or staff for in-person communication at literally all times. I personally have gone through personal crisis and with seamless and one-of-a kind crisis management by staff like Lauren, Yazid, Mohamed Al Khudr, Gary and the manager, my situation passed very smoothly. They have truly been kind, respectful, professional at every step of the way and I cannot imagine that personal situation without their support. Again, they have been truly family away from family. Lauren very kindly even checks up on me and my family, which is something I appreciated very much and

Worth every penny spent!! It has been so wonderful being here especially as an international student. The vibes are immaculate.
Great place. Recommend for any Newcastle students.
Good location, however too expensive for the customer experience you’re getting
The location is really well, which is next to the business school
It’s in a really good location
Good value and always clean tidy. i like that they clean the floors everyday
I live in silver studio,it is very clean and the equipments are very new, I love it here
Best decisions I’ve made and been wonderful so far
Very comfortable to live in.the stuffs are very nice.
I have been living in the View Student Accommodation for over 2 months now. This building is beautiful and modern, and the rooms are so comfortable that I always get good sleep. Also the staff are very friendly and helpful. I had a lot of questions about my room before I moved in and they were very welcoming and patient in responding to me and giving me the best solutions. They have also set up a community of residents through which I can communicate with other students. We chatted in this online group and discussed our studies and lives. I have never heard anything negative from anyone else and it seems that everyone enjoys living here. Overall, a fantastic experience!
Great for living! Close to everywhere for classes! The environment is very good! And the receptionist is also very nice! It's great to talk to them every day!
It is very convenient to live in The View. If you are a Newcastle business school student, then The View can be a super good option!
When I decided to book an accommodation, I found many people recommended the view. Now I live in there, I think the view is really great as they said, especially the location and the management.
Very good locations, friendly staff, very good common room. I really enjoy to live here and met many friends
The View is an amazing student accommodation in the perfect location for Newcastle university main campus and is right next to the modern campus. The walk into the city centre is 4 minutes which is perfect for those students who are looking for a part time job, and for nights out as it is only a short walk home The building is kept so clean by the maintenance staff and the receptionist are always on hand to help you if you need anything at all!! I settled in really well and very quickly, the common room is a great way to meet new friends Overall, i would definitely recommend staying here during your time as a first year student to really get the best experience as a fresher!😁😁
Very friendly staff that are always happy to help. Really lovely location with some of the best views of the city.
Good overall. Sometimes staff won’t let people from other Accoms in for no reason. Quite expensive for what it is compared to Verde down the road
Toni is a nice cleaner. Lovely lady
Lovely cleaner Toni, always working hard and reception are always working exceptionally.
I had a really positive experience living in the view for my first year. The staff are so friendly, maintenance requests were always solved promptly. The location is also brilliant, it’s a 5/10 minute walk away from pretty much anywhere you want to be. Flats are randomly allocated to first years but if you’re lucky the views from the top floors are incredible!! That being said however, many flats did just look over the business school. It is a very comfortable and safe place to spend your first year, and you’re also surrounded by students from nearby accommodations too. if you can afford it I would recommend!
The View is a great accommodation well located within the city. As a Computer Science student my building was just around the corner. The Tesco Express right next to the entrance of the View is very convenient. I lived in a studio apartment and it was very spacious and modern. The people at the reception were always very helpful and friendly. I would totally recommend it!
Very nice building, large kitchens and rooms. Great location.
Great place for first year, was just a struggle socially due to Covid for me but I think without Covid in the picture it would be a much better experience and more worth the money. Property is constantly managed and communal areas in the building are always clean , the internet by far is the best part about the property though. Rooms are nice and big and the kitchen is nice too.
The View has the best location for Newcastle student halls in the city centre, being only a 5 minute walk away from Eldon Square, pubs/clubs and had a Tesco Express in the building. The staff are so helpful, especially Lauren at reception, always engaging with residents, doing giveaways and managing any maintenance issues. The facilities are good with in-building laundry and bin storage, although recycling availability is limited and lots of recyclable products are scrapped in general waste. The common room has a TV, pool table and good entertainment, however due to the pandemic I wasn’t able to experience its full uses. I believe the common room closes at 5pm which isn’t always convenient with uni during the day. The flats have good views of the city, same with the bedrooms of adjacent to Heber street, however some flats face views of the business school. The bedrooms and bathrooms are modern, with good under bed storage, however you may want to bring extra bathroom storage.
I really liked the view, maintenance was done on time & I really hit it off with my flatmates. Also special shout-out to Lauren for going above and beyond!
Great location for first year. Views are stunning on the top floors
Can’t really say anything on social spaces or experience but all the rest is good. It is very safe also.
just now Having lived here throughout my first year of university, I have nothing but positive things to say. The rooms are spacious and having an ensuite is a definite plus. It's great to have sufficient storage within the rooms and the under bed storage is great for storing larger items such as suitcases. The communal living space and kitchen is perfect for socialising although could benefit from a little extra space. Maintenance issues are dealt with promptly and all staff are super friendly, especially Lauren on reception, who is always around to help with parcels and concerns. The view is in a central location, ideal for easy city access with a Tesco directly below for any grocery essentials. The reception always have freebies and competitions on the go building the community feel of the View. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in Newcastle.
Close to both the centre of the city and the university campus, one of the best things about this accommodation is the location. Everything you could want is in walking distance; the Tesco express at the bottom of the building is so convenient. The rooms themselves are spacious and comfortable, and the en-suite is a good size too. However, the wifi and water isn’t always as good as it should be. This year the boiler had frequent problems, resulting in days of no hot water and freezing cold showers. For how much the accommodation costs, you would’ve thought that they’d be more proactive in solving these problems. Moreover, wifi also hasn’t been great. Right on the morning of one of my exams the wifi stopped working and I couldn’t access my exam. Not only did this delay when I could start my exam, it coincided with a no hot water day, which made for an unnecessary amount of stress. Overall though, still a great accommodation, but possibly too expensive for how many issues have arisen.
The view overall is a really nice place to live in first year, you’re very close to the city centre and so going places is very easy. There is a metro station literally right outside making travel easy and only a 15 minute walk to the train station. The rooms are spacious but the kitchen is slightly smaller than some people would like and a few extra cupboards in a flat of 6 is needed.
Lovely place to live. Location is perfect, so close to town and uni facilities. Reception staff are so helpful and lovely.
i’ve really enjoyed living in the view, i think the reception is amazing and have contributed to a great first year!
Great rooms, very spacious. Kitchen and other areas were always very clean when we moved in. Even though the external issues such as corona made it difficult I still enjoyed my living experience.
It is a value for money property with cosy, colourful, spacious and clean flats. Staff at the reception are all friendly and ready to help, and the maintenance team was always responsive. Also, the reception staff are giving us little treats now and then, and this is a very nice gesture from them. Due to Covid restrictions were not able to use any social spaces, but this is not something that the team could do. The only bad thing is the loud noise you can hear from the corridor, but this depends on the residents on your floor—definitely, a recommended property to live in if you are studying.
I’m loving it here so far. Location is perfect and everything was clean when I moved in. The staff are fabulous and helped us out massively when our flat had to self isolate. This wasn’t an easy time for me as I have anxiety but Steve always made time to chat to us from outside the flat and ask how we were all managing when bringing us our food orders. It would be nice to have a few more on site events to get to know who else is living here but I realise why.
Amazing location, okay value for money, social facilities there but limited due to COVID
It was great, loved it loads, I would definitely recommend for a friend
Great location and modern. More seating is needed in communal areas. Bad service but good wifi.
Nice and modern rooms with a good location that is close to everything
Really nice and location is perfect
Around a good accomodation, a few issues with the internet. Really friendly and welcoming reception staff is a big plus. Perfect location for the city centre and next to the businesss school. Would be better minus covid obviously
Good place and good location, everyone is friendly
Great place to stay. Very clean flats and luxurious flats.
Great, absolutely loved every minute of it!!!!!
Great honestly it’s been absolutely amazing. Big up the view yeah 01610,
Pretty solid I can’t lie still
Lovely staff very friendly and always help.
Highly reccomend, really social and helpful staff. I love living here!
Very nice place to live in, great access to the city
Relatively good value for money , would be ideal without Covid.
I have really enjoyed my time here so far.
Very good experience but WiFi goes off occasionally.
Social experience is non existent at the moment but that’s not the buildings fault
Enjoying living here. Reception are really friendly.
Love it, good service and maintenance
Good service and maintenance, lovely location.
internet is poor, which is really bad considering we have to study from home, but everything else is pretty much spot on. social aspect has been more difficult this year, but really good location, so close to the town centre. tesco’s downstairs is so handy.
Nice area to live in accommodation is clean
Good place to stay, clean and tidy.
I’ve had an amazing experience at The View, everyone on reception is really helpful and maintenance is always on hand. I have felt very safe with the level of security here. Socially, I am very lucky because I get on very well with my flat and I have also met loads of really lovely people. There’s a great atmosphere and people seem really genuine here.
Friendly staff and good service
It has been a very enjoyable experience
The View offers high quality accommodation and a good overall service. Room size is brilliant. Maintenance services are very quick and wifi is excellent with rarely any outages
Very friendly staff and nice rooms and kitchen
Poor sound-proofing, loud noises from upstairs 24/7. Sometimes it is too noisy to have online lessons and to sleep.
nice accommodation but since the COVID-19 outbreak uni students were advised to go home as lectures were cancelled, however downing students are still demanding payment for an unoccupied room whilst almost every other accommodation has refunded students who are no longer living in accommodation. The reception is closed along with the common room and the waste disposal room was disgusting, neglected by staff and is in a dangerous state as it is a breeding ground for vermin. This is clearly selfish and to students who are out of work along with their parents will find it difficult to pay this substantial amount of money. I will definitely not be recommending any of downing students accommodation to anyone at all. I am also disappointed with the lack of representation from the uni who have abandoned ‘The View’ students on this issue.
Before the covid-19 experience I would have recommended to anyone, the WiFi did go down often but they were very apologetic, however they have been really unhelpful during the situation. They have closed all services (no access to common room, no security, no reception services, very slow maintenance requests) they are also still requesting the final payment, when all other student accommodation in the city have excused residents from the final payment.
Haven't even considered refunding us due to COVID-19 despite being the only accom left that haven't in NCL and Downing have refunded students in Leeds
Don’t refund us and are still making us pay even though we had to go home due to the virus pandemic. All other accommodation had refunded and ended student contracts. So unreasonable and a bad company to go with
Downing only care about profit. Continued taking our money when every other accommodation company gave money back to students and released them from their contracts due to Coronavirus. WiFi went down all the time. Only positive was that the staff were lovely.
Do not live here under any circumstances. Completely selfish company that is only out to make money and does not care about the well-being and care of its tenants
Won’t put the interests of students first, only their money and getting paid.
Regret choosing this residency. Staff with bad attitudes and are not helpful at all. We are now is this kind of situation (covid-19) and most of us had left the accommodation and they don't refund us the rent for last term while apparently other accommodations all did refunds. The reception team had also left very early and no one is in charge of the deliveries and services, not being responsible. The floor of the rooms is also quite dirty when I first moved in to my room.
This place is the worst accommodation amongst the Newcastle uni ones (and I visited quite a few) which is a joke considering it is also the most expensive. It's called "the view" but you have to be very lucky to actually get a flat with a "view", in most cases you'll stare at the Business School all the time (and from real close, you literally can see what they're doing on lectures) and you can only see Liberty Plaza from your kitchen. Rooms are small. There is a common room which is pretty cozy but doesn't give you anything extra, there is no cleaning inside the flats, you don't even get breakfast, so I literally have no idea what we're paying for. (it's almost as expensive as a Vita Student accommodation and at Vita you get breakfast, a huge common room and even a gym on site, the rooms are bigger too!) This place literally doesn't worth it. They're also refusing to give us refund for the last term amidst the COVID-19 outbreak even though most of us don't even live there anymore.
WiFi down all the time. Things broken when I moved in, emailed multiply times but not fixed till January. Refused to cancel payments when all other accommodations did due to corona.
During the 2020 COVID-19 outbreak, Downing Students failed to acknowledge student needs and refused to issue refunds to students no longer living in The View. This is appalling from such a large company and as a result I will not be recommending The View or any Downing Students accomodation to anyone.
Front desk staff are really helpful & the location & quality is amazing.
The View is a very nice place to live, well-maintained and in a convenient location. It is quite expensive though.
Great location; stylish, modern rooms and lovely reception staff. Cleaners don’t clean your flat but the rest of the building is always kept clean.
Very pleased to have chosen this as accommodation
Overall very good experience. Great location and staff are all very helpful.
I do really enjoy it in most aspects
i really enjoy living at the view, its close to town so no need to spend money on taxis, its close to uni, it has good social spaces and the rooms are spacious enough. The view is great from the view being on the 8th floor.
The View is very convince including good felicity and nice location.
I am enjoying my stay at The View, the location to uni and to the city centre is ideal.
I like this place very much, because it is very close to my school. The only bad thing is that my neighbors are very noisy sometimes, and I can hear them talking in the corridor at night, so the sound insulation effect is not good.
Good design, bedroom and kitchen feel spacious for student accommodation and when in your room the soundproofing is good. Very hot so I would recommend to bring a fan as I have needed it even in the colder months
Everything is good condition but the WiFi need to be a lot stronger
Great location and nice bedroom and en suite. The kitchen could do with improvement as there isn’t really enough space for everyone in the flat.
Great location flatmates and helpful staff
Great accommodation, nicely maintained and lovely staff. Value for money decent, would expect a gym and study spaces in this price range though. Rooms well sized and equipped. Would recommend!
Social amongst the flats but quiet along the corridors. Pretty friendly during freshers, too. Good location, good WiFi, best for those who want a small group of close friends instead of a large pack of people all living in close proximity. Encourages friends being made from course and other accommodations.
The View is a really good first year hall, handy location (10 min walk from Newcastle University) and the room are big enough with social areas in the kitchen too.
I have absolutely loved living here. I had to move flats unfortunately due to circumstances but Claire Holmes was amazing and helped me move and change effortless and stress free. Every staff member is lovely!!
It's a great place to live but a tad over priced. Walls are quite thin and you can hear parties going on above and below. If you're a snitch then the security guards deal with it pretty quickly though :)
This would be a great accommodation if it was cheaper because the price literally doesn't worth it. It's called the "View" but most of us just see the Business School (and from real close! not only you can see everyone in like 6 different rooms in 3 different floors but sadly they can see you too) or the other nearest accommodation. For this price, there is no gym, no cleaning in the rooms (not even in the kitchen) and it is not catered so before you decide to choose this accommodation, please do compare what you might get elsewhere for the same price (or just for a bit more). Apart from that, the rooms are comfy, the kitchen has everything you need and the staff is very friendly. If you're lucky enough to get a flat on a higher floor and on the right side, there is an actual view.
Best location & good size rooms. The Kitchen and en-suite have modern facilities. However it is very expensive, considering we have to pay for our own wash/ dry and don’t receive cleaning in our shared flat areas. On the whole it is a great place to live.
Living at the view is very fun its such a great location and the staff are so lovely! The accommodation is kept very clean and all services are very quick , its an amazing place to live.
I've had a really good experience here!
Great accommodation at the view
Pretty good, room is great, plenty of plugs
Perfect location, 5 mins from everything. The rooms were newly refurbished and the kitchen-lounge areas were like new as well. However, after 3 months in they stopped caring about the wifi, it was experiencing tons of issues, they didn't care about the laundry machines, (only 2 were working in a building of 17 floors, with 5 flats each), plus the laundry was expensive( 7 pounds for a wash and dry) no-one was hanging out in the common social spaces, and most of the people were posh. If I could choose again I would never consider the view again, totally a waste of money apart from location mostly cause you can find more spacious and friendly places around uni. Definitely not a place for internationals.
excellent lovely place and the staff is great
Terrible place Excessive noise Poor layout Some students always do bot respect you!!! Espectially when they got drunk!! They often knock your door and scream at night!! Managment team cannot manage and solve this problem. Oh my goodness this is the worst thing I’ve experienced since I live in the UK. Please think carefully if you think that I will live here just because it’s near business school. There are a lot of accommodations you can choose!!!
Terrible place Massive noise Poor managment team A lot ot durnk students Management team cannot control anything Please think again and again before rent this place
Terrible place!!! staff are not friendly. Nightmare to live here because of excessive noise from other flats. No one can help you solve this problem. It doesn't worth to live here.
Awful place, staff are extremely rude and unhelpful. Talk to you like dirt. You can hear the wind from the corridor to such an extent that you cant sleep. There is honestly no social life in this building. Washing facilities are a joke, they flooded and had to shut it down. 0/10
Really good halls but also the most expensive. Best thing is the location. Perfect for nights out
Great location and on site facilities
No social experience, flats are nice but cheap appliances, rooms are really hot and windows hardly open to let air in. Kitchens don't have extractor fans so it just turns to an oily mess. Security is over the top and sometimes mates can not come to visit you.
Great location, beautiful building however the layout doesn't encourage people to be sociable
Location is the best part. 10-15 minute walk to campus. Right by the centre of town. Downside of this is it is stupid loud at times. I had a room facing the Sandman Hotel. I would hear people partying outside until late at night, garbage truck crushing all the glass bottles early in the morning (around 5 am). The sun would heat the room up extremely when it was up, but opening the window would bring insane amount of noise in. It's hilariously impossible to sleep at times. The doors are notorious for being banged (hinge is heavy), which can wake you up in the nights. The rooms aren't big, but they are modern and nice. Being a first year place, the people can be quite noisy and party centred, if you like it, great. if you don't - its terrible. My experience social was s***, and its impossible to change room so. Some people write it's dead socially, how the f*** I dunno, there were constant parties. Sucks for me because I prefer to sleep and eat myself to a heart attack.
When I arrived the the rooms were disgustingly dirty, No cleaning is done for students, the location is ideal, but the cost of rent is not worth it in my opinion.
Very spacious kitchen and living area with well set up bedrooms. Great halls for first year students.
It is ok! Having an ensuite is the best bit!
It is truly great to live here. Ideal location, so pretty - you feel like in a hotel. Also I have never ecperienced not having hot water and you can actually control the temperature of your room! I really appreciate, as it is a new accommodation, that everything works and if you have any kind of problem, the management team is so lovely and they always solve the problems very quickly. Except for the price, can't recommend more. I believe that it is worth it though.
Great place to live for location as is only 15 minutes from the train station, 10 minutes from Newcastle University and 5 minutes from nightlife and Eldon Square. However, it is not a great place for socialising.
Nice place, safe (24/7 security) good location. But payment method could be made better. Unfortunate cheap kitchen appliances.
The View offers great, modern accommodation and is in a good location. The staff are very friendly and help with any problems you may be having in your room very quickly.
Great location and the flats are really nice but the social scene is next to none existent, would recommend Castle leazes or Ricky over the view.
Although the view offers a brilliant location in terms of access to the city's shops and nightlife in a Very modern looking building its not without its flaws. Being privately owned comes with the burden of poor value and inexperienced staff who treat security as if you were in a prison and come into your room whenever they want. The social spaces are designed Perfectly for students but are painfully underused.
Best place to live but by far the best the deadest. Security is so over the top
Really good location to the shops/bars/clubs etc, about 20 minutes walk from newcastle university campus. No cleaning services provided, but flats are modern and nicely decorated with a living space and kitchen for every flat
the most expensive place you can stay, but it is probably worth the money. The location couldn't be better- close to uni, China town, shops, all bars&clubs. You get a double bed & nice ensuite. The kitchen/lounge is a good size and there's a big tv. However, I needed to move out due to harassment & the manager is the most unhelpful person ever! She lied through her teeth to do anything to keep me paying to live there, saying I chose to move out to be with my friends in another place when I would have happily moved to another room in the same building which she wouldn't let me do! Be warned that as it is privately owned, it is not easy to move out & no one will move in as it so pricey. Lots of international students.
