Near ouseburn which is unreal. The distance to campus for northumbria students is ideal, but such a trek for newcastle university students.

Thanks for your review! Our location is only a 10 minute walk from the city centre along with similar times to the universities, there is so much to do in the area along with great travel links to and from town if you need a quick route! We will be sure to pass your feedback onto the team.
I would recommend Portland Green, however, it is not good value for money. Whilst they do provide WiFi, and heating is included, the prices for laundry are extortionate. There is a gym, however equipment is limited and the gym doesn’t open until 8am. The rooms are nice, with enough space and storage, and the communal kitchen does have the necessities. The location is good, there is a Tesco round the corner although the area does lack affordable shops for students. Although this seems to be a problem for the city as a whole. Campus is about 15 minutes away which is good.

I stayed in a Marshall Court studio this year and whilst it was mainly ok, I had issues involving maintenance and security. I had multiple issues with my flat involving a broken freezer and missing bathroom floor separator when moving in; it took maintenance months to replace my fridge and freezer and weeks to then move the broken one out of the flat, and the floor separator was never replaced despite mentioning this at check in and in a separate maintenance request. Security was acceptable but Marshall Court's gate requiring key card access on both sides meant that as I lived on my own I couldn't leave the courtyard to be let back in by reception which is in a different building. Experience with reception staff has been mixed, some staff are very helpful whilst others have been unpleasant. Flats are decently sized but not worth the price especially as they have increased next year's.

made some amazing friends here, good for meeting people at both unis as different buildings are for each one, close enough to uni - 20 mins ish (newcastle) my flatmates were disgusting and had the worlds messiest kitchen but overall its not that dirty of an accom. maintenance are decently fast at responding but don't always fix the issues. The laundry is the most expensive I've seen in an accom and there were lots of broken washers and dryers. Good social events and quite often free things at reception. Staff are kind and helpful where they can be. Very loud atmosphere, people out till at least 3 every night (really social). Ouseburn is an amazing area to live, lots of artsy shops and bars and art displays. Also farm which is very cute!

Good accommodation, staff are friendly and there are often treats out in the reception for residents. Few maintenance issues though, such as taking a while to complete requests, and wifi and hot water facilities didn't work for days/weeks.

Once upon a time I went to my kitchen and i saw a diseased seagull. Lying there, in a pool of blood upon my sofa, it lay glassy-eyed, defeated by death. ‘goodness!’ i exclaimed to titan the flat badger. ‘what’s happened here then?’ Alas Titan did not deign to reply. And so I called student services and they appeared in a haste, saving me in my distress.

I’ve lived here for two years now (a big regret). There are constant issues that the staff refuse to fix within reasonable time. We had a broken appliance in our flat for an entire semester before the staff decided to fix it despite the fact that we made maintenance requests 4 times in the span of 3 months. The solutions the staff come up with are truly laughable and make excuse after excuse. There’s zero organization within their systems and they’re not friendly at all. The price is ridiculous for what you’re actually paying for. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The room is nice and the actual accommodation is nice. But I have lost about £60 worth of food due to faulty appliances not maintained by the company and they refused to give me any money back. They would constantly pass the blame on us students for their appliances breaking down when it definitely was not our fault. The amount I pay for the accommodation is absolutely not worth it.

I loved my room and my flat. The social scene was a bit mundane for me. Internet broke down once just before my exam so had to go to another building and study but otherwise the internet connection rest of the year was great. All facilities and maintenance was great!

I love my account, it has the city life aspect, but without the busy aspect, so you can get a good night sleep.

When I moved in my room was clean but the kitchen was unacceptable me and my flatmates along with couple of our parents had to clean the kitchen ourselves. Issues in my room that should have been fixed weeks ago are still pending such as my indoor lock not working. Regardless, it’s a decent size and good facilities overall however I’m paying a lot more than a lot of people who have the same exact room which is entirely unfair.

My mattress was uncomfortable and smelt of urine on move in day. My bathroom had to be fully bleached as it smelt of urine, and my carpet is covered in mysterious brown stains. In the kitchen, one of the fridges doesn't work, the oven doesn't work, and we don't have a bin. There was a banging noise from the bathroom every 10 seconds and my bathroom leaks through the floor, onto the carpets. The main issue I have is with the maintenance report issues. I have been living here for 2 weeks now and still, my bathroom still leaks constantly, we only have one fridge between 6 of us, the oven took about a week for someone to fix, and I was made to be an idiot for reporting the banging noise as I was told that it'll just 'go by itself over time', when actually the it required a new flush valve (a week after reported). I have reported all issues numerous times, and get told false promises about when it'll be fixed, when actually they never reported it! I could share much more too if I had space

Is fantastic value for money, the rooms are pleasant with good storage under the bed, a large desk, and a wired internet connection. The bathrooms are decently sized with a nice shower. I've sometimes had to wait a while for small maintenance issues to be resolved but anything critical is sorted as soon as possible. The hallways and corridors are a little dirty sometimes with insects living near the external doors, but I've really only had that in one of the buildings. The £5.10 per wash & dry is kinda pricey but the rent price makes up for it I suppose. Otherwise, the staff on the desk are absolutely lovely and resolve any issues I've had to the best of their ability, and the parcel collection service has been extremely useful! The accomodation is also located really close to everyuthing so I've just been walking everywhere. Only about 5 mins to Northumbria and 10-15 to Newcastle. Oh! and the internet is quite fast at a steady 25 megabytes per second so definitely no complaints there.

It’s a nice accommodation with en-suite rooms / studios, close to both universities, right next to Ouseburn, they have a lot of great VIP discounts and giveaways for residents. The cash back scheme is very good if you book quite early. However, there have been multiple occasions where the bin store is overflowing, to the point it is no longer accessible. I also had a very bad experience with a much older flatmate who caused a lot of problems for me and the others. This was ongoing and only got a bit better when we repeatedly said something to reception about it. Sometimes the main entrance to Newton Court opens without needing to use the keycard, so anyone could get into the courtyard. However, the door to each block and then your flat & room are securely locked.

Been at Portland for 2 years and for the most it was really good all went off without any issues and staff couldn’t be more helpful however the doors into the buildings and gates regularly break which would be alright if they got fixed as regularly but they don’t. However the 24/7 security means this isn’t a massive issue and quite handy if you forget a key but still annoying seeing as it is still quite expensive

Really good place to stay for either Newcastle or Northumbria students due to close walking distance. Close to Jesmond, the student town, and in a really convenient place in regards to distance when going on a night out.

Maintenance respond quickly and students get a lot of privacy. They do giveaways and offer discounts on things. The area is nice but it is slightly further from the uni than other accommodations but the distance isn’t too bad. Main issues were the fire alarm was constantly going off, we had no hot water for a few weeks, laundry is quite expensive, bins piled up often and my room hadn’t been cleaned before I moved in and it was very dirty.

Portland green is a great accomodation for first years, the rooms are a lot nicer than most other places and they aren't expensive. The only downsides are that it gets pretty noisy during the night and also the 20 minute walk to most university buildings.

Good room & flat. Room is well sized and flows well and not once did I feel cramped or uncomfortable. Flat kitchen had all appliances( which worked) and any problem with anything maintenance was always on hand to repair/ fix anything within 24hrs. Reception was always pleasant & weren’t too strict

Great accomodation, flat came with a dishwasher too which was a lifesaver, comfy sofas and very close to good places such as Ouseburn and Jesmond, and a 20/30 min walk to Newcastle Shopping Park for a shop at Asda, B&M etc. Most issues were resolved in a good time frame and I loved staying here

Half an hour from newcastle uni which is a trek compared other accomidations, rooms are pretty small and flats weren't very clean when we moved in. Takes ages to get stuff replaced, or not at all. In our last few weeks we've had no hot water at all and no apology from staff.

Reception staff are great and keen to help. Security was not the best, as most of the year the main entrance door to my building was wide open and fob access to each block was switched off, so any random person could walk up straight to any flat door without any keys. My building did not come with a few things like a dishwasher and TV, which wouldn’t have been an issue, however the other buildings did get a TV and dishwasher were paying the same price as me. There was no recycling available and sometimes the bin room would get full and rubbish would pile outside for days which attracted rats to the premises. Circuit laundry was too expensive to depend on every week, other accommodations set their prices to half of what I have been charged per wash during my stay. The lift was out of service for more than 2 months and I had to contact my university involved to fix it. No hot water in my entire building during the last week of my stay, and took them 10 days to fix.

Nice place to live and a good location although quite far from some uni buildings, particularly the Newcastle Medical school (~25 minute walk). Rooms were nice and spacious, as well as the living and kitchen areas. Only issue was with maintenance - some requests were not addressed at all. Social spaces were great, and there are always lots of free things and giveaways in reception.

Being a student village, this accommodation offers many opportunities to meet new people. The buildings are also quite modern and the facilities available, such as the gym and study spaces, make up for the location of the accommodation as it is a bit further out of the university campus. There were a few issues with appliances e.g. I often had to report of the oven not working, but they were always resolved. All in all, I had a good experience living in Portland Green.

I had a great time staying here for my first year of university, and would recommend to anyone!! There is a large array of facilities and staff are very helpful. It is a bit of a walk to Newcastle University, but you get used to it.

staffs are lovely, the rooms are spacious for the price, and the premise is of good surrounds of bars, shops and even a pharmacy. Just minor issues like the kitchen utilities especially the hob would take too long to heat up, heater would turn on max for only 2 hrs and sometimes maintenance of facilities like entrance doors and lifts would take longer than expected. Other than that, PGSV is of good value for money and the experience has been good so far.

I didn’t choose to live at Portland Green but it’s worked out well for me. I’ve made great friends and i love having a free gym downstairs! Reception are friendly, there’s always freebies and prize draws. I would recommend it to a friend.

I am pleased with my accomodation. I like that it is a bit further from uni as it gets more quiet at times. There are also enough shops close by. The only thing I have to criticise is the maintanance sometimes. It takes a while to fix a problem like a broken oven or a missing microwave (both from experience), other than that the staff are very lovely and always try to help out.

A great accommodation with super helpful and friendly staff. Portland Green is a safe and warm place to live with the reassurance of 24/7 security. A great location for both Northumbria University and Newcastle University and is only a short distance from the city centre so perfect for shopping and a night out. With all bills included in the price and ensuite rooms you really can't go wrong and I have rebooked for next year!

The staff are very friendly and always keen to help, the flat kitchens are large enough spaces with enough room and amenities to socialise in large groups. The bedrooms are spacious with comfortable decor and suitable en suits.

Portland Green is such good value for money! If this accommodation was in the city centre it would definitely be at least £20 per week more, but the walk has never been a problem- only ten minutes to the city centre. The staff are super friendly and the rooms are really spacious, especially for the price. Sometimes things don't get fixed very quickly, such as our lifts and outside doors, but I would definitely recommend Portland Green to anyone coming to uni in Newcastle.

I am satisfied with my stay in PGSV as it has good value for money, the only thing I would suggest is that all flats have vacuums, irons and brooms/ dustpans/ mops as my flat was missing two of these things.

Portland Green has been everything I could possibly want from a student accommodation! The rooms and the kitchen area are spacious and modern, especially considering the low price in comparison to lots of other Newcastle accommodation, and the staff are always so friendly and remember all of our faces, which just adds to the community atmosphere. I was worried that the location would be quite distant from the city centre, but it's such a nice walk that I hardly even notice it, and being near arty Ouseburn and all the lovely forest parks more than makes up for the fifteen minute walk to uni. I've absolutely loved my time here so far- I've already rebooked the same room for next year!

September to December - the front door broken and had bin collection issues for many weeks causing there to be many rats January till present - the lift is broken and there is hole in the wall and doesn’t look very welcoming.

For a £128 ppw en-suite there’s nothing you can really complain about. I’ve found the study rooms in Bryson Court to be quite handy for when I want to study out of my room but not walk over to the library. The staff at the reception I’ve found are always very friendly.

I am living in Turner Court in Portland Green Student Village, which is unfortunate given that all the buildings in the village have different amenities for the same price. We don't have a social space, TV, dishwasher, staffed entrance or gym, where other buildings do. Maintenance requests are fundamentally ignored, and the staff don't seem to know how to sort this.

Lived here for 4 years. The rooms are more spacious than you can find at the same price. The team is super friendly and helpful. Location is close to Uni and the tesco and subway made life easier. Lots of events organised by the team or students so social life is fun, would recommend getting a place with friends. The place can get noisy sometimes especially on weekends. Place is clean and in the 4 years wifi never failed me, always super fast. Overall would highly recommend it it's a great accommodation.

I have lived in this student accommodation since September 2021 and have rebooked for my last year at Newcastle University for 22/23. The flats are en suites and I share a kitchen with my other flatmates. When booking I was able to give my preferences and they were met, such as whether being in a flat with girls or mixed and also I specified being with 2nd year students . There are entertainments held on a monthly basis, which we are invited to and a social area where we can book for gatherings. The best day is Friday when I get to see George the Portland Green Students Village dog. The staff are great and deal with situations promptly.

I’m staying here for my second year at Sunderland University and I have already booked for next year. I’ve met so many friends. There are 5 buildings in the village with students from Newcastle/Northumbria Uni. The village has its own Tesco Express and Subway. There’s a pharmacy and GP across the road and loads of bars nearby. The staff are great and have events almost every week. Walk to town takes about 10 minutes and about 5-8 minutes to the nearest Metro or you can use an e-scooter to get there. Newton Court is the newest of the buildings and has huge kitchen and lounge.

Honestly the best accommodation I have ever lived in! I have lived at Portland green for 2 years now and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else now! George (the office dog) is a great addition to a Friday daytime and makes my day when I go by reception! If I ever have any issues the reception team take note of it and they are resolved very quickly! I am looking to do a masters next year and I am hoping that I can stay in Newcastle to stay here for another year! Great location for university and getting into the city centre and events on site are fantastic especially the bingo nights which are great fun!

I have lived at Portland Green Student Village for 7 months now and I can honestly say that I would recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for student accommodation in Newcastle. Within my first month of living at Portland Green I did have a few issues with my neighbours however the reception team were fantastic and completely understanding to my situation and sorted these issues for me straight away. Now I am extremely happy and have made life long friends from around the village and am now looking forward to another year at Portland Green.

In general terms everything is ok. I only have two negative things to say about the accommodation. 1. I feel it is quite expensive, in my case I finish my classes at the beginning of May and I have had to pay two more moths for nothing (980 pounds). I am so angry about this, find it very unfair. 2. When we have had issues with flat mates it is hard or even impossible to change somewhere else (having spare rooms in every building), it is something it should change. We pay a lot of money for so little solutions.

Definitely not worth the money we pay given the quality of the accommodation in comparison to other university halls which charge the same amount. Social life is good but dependent on the people you are living with rather than the accommodation itself.

It's a good place to live where you can meet new people from a range of backgrounds doing multiple courses. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. There are regular competitions and giveaways, e.g. Pepsi max and mugs. Only downside is the walls are pretty thin so I am able to hear my flatmates and other flats talking and singing etc, which is usually fine during the day but can be quite annoying on a night when trying to sleep.

I've stayed at Portland Green Student Village since 2018 and during this time I haven't had much problems. If there's one thing that I think is great about this place it has to be the staff. The staff here are fantastic, very friendly and welcoming they really do try thier best to make you feel accommodated. I would definitely recommend this place especially if you are a young or mature student. The location is great too, it's right next to Ouseburn a short walk from the city centre and a stones through away from jesmond. Overall 8.5/10

Accommodation is nice because it has open spaces such as common areas around the building as well as a common space within our flats. I also like that the rooms allow for privacy. Reception is lovely!

WiFi is the biggest issue I’ve had since being here. However the value for money that you get for the rooms and amenities makes it more than worth it. The smoking areas and courtyards make it very easy to be social and get to know other people in the building.

Even though at fist, I was quite sceptical about living at Turner Court in Portland Green, I have grown to love living there. I love living here so much that I am going to live in Portland Green at Newton Court next academic year! There wasn't much social-wise due to COVID-19 but Turner Court has still been a very social place for me. I've met loads of new people.

Overall my experience has been excellent here, the only downfall has been that it's about 20 minutes from town but there's some lovely parks nearby to compensate.

The accommodation is really nice and modern with a good flat layout. The rooms were fairly clean when I moved in. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The location is really good and close to both unis. The social experience has been difficult due to the current situations however meeting new flatmates was great. The WiFi is really fast and you can have up to 5 devices on it.

Newcastle is a long way from London and I expected it would take a decent amount of time to get used to being so far away from home. While I can't lie and say I'm completely used to it yet, settling in and living at the Portland Green Student Village has been a great experience. The staff are friendly and reply quickly to enquiries, whether you email or ask them in person, there are constantly events going on despite the current situation in England; it is clear that the staff and organisers are making sure that we're having the best experience that we can even with everything going on right now. While I will certainly miss being home in London, I am also looking forward to spending the rest of the year here in my first year of higher education.

I don’t think you’ll find much better for your money in newcastle, especially with the cashback. Big desk and bed, decent floor space, even got a dishwasher in the kitchen!! All basic necessities covered like Hoover, kettle, microwave, toaster. The staff are really friendly as well, I was feeling upset one day with isolation and Elaine just made me feel so much better. Obviously with lockdown it’s hard to judge the social spaces and social experience, but I’m enjoying myself so far. It is 10 mins walk from Northumbria uni and just under 20 to city centre. No complaints, they’re trying their best in a hard time obviously things can’t be perfect considering the circumstance

Staff were excellent in helping get our flat groceries and parcels whilst we were isolating. I felt safe and reassured that I was not alone and if I needed further help it was easy accessible.

Very modern and comfortable accommodation, in a perfect location with a tesco on the corner and a park right behind the block. I had to isolate due to covid 19 and the staff were so helpful and supportive, post was delivered to our doors along with our bins been taken out when requested. Although we cannot socialise outside our flat we have been provided with other opportunities to meet new people virtually such as a zoom quiz. I would recommend anyone to book here.

The staff are all so friendly and helpful. It’s so tough at the minute but they all work so hard, day and night. The evening cleaning staff are so lovely and will happily bump elbows.

Rooms are tiny, judging by how uncomfortable they are mattrasses could be well over 10 years in use. Had unsufficient hot water supply for months and didnt get fixed until the second term. Bike thefts every week without security being able to do something about it. Garbage everywhere as apparently no proper cleaning services. Laundery rooms were outsourced to Circuit and werent functioning for weeks without anyone on site doing anything about it, despite the fact that 4,50 per washing is incredibly expensive compared to other accommodations. Also laundry rooms exist only in two out of 5 builidings so had to drag all of it into a different building. A single common room with one pool & ping pong table for over a thousand students in five different buildings is simply ridiculous. Access logs for buildings flat and room doors was down for two weeks seemingly without anyone being able to fix it. Had to call reception every time I wanted to get out of my flat or get back into it.
Portland Green Student Village is the largest private student community in Newcastle with over 1,400 rooms. This is a mixture of both ensuites in clusters flats and self-contained studios. Thank you very much for your review. At Portland Green Student Village we hope all our residents are aware, we endeavour to fix any issues as quickly as possible. Our three 24-hour operational laundry rooms do occasionally have technical difficulties with individual machines. Once reported it is logged for an engineer to attend as soon as possible. We have also increased neighbourhood watch patrols and our onsite security. When a theft is reported the police are contacted to investigate the matter and a crime reference number is provided for insurance purposes. We also have two large social rooms across the 5 buildings for our students, which include pool tables, areas to meet and socialise with friends or take advantage of our spacious and quiet study pods.

Very bad customer service, especially in a crisis such as the Covid-19 outbreak. Would not recommend; do not book/rebook with them, only after £££
Our number one priority in this ever-changing situation has been the safety of our residents and colleagues. The site team is extremely busy looking after our residents still in situ maintaining the facilities to the highest possible standard. We have increased cleaning measures, individual welfare checks on residents whist keeping the community of PGSV our top priority. The Abodus team is very busy behind the scenes currently reviewing the COVID-19 situation and how it impacts your lives, now and next term. We will be contacting all residents with further communications as quickly as possible.
The experience has been fantastic overall. The staffs are very efficient and friendly. Management is smooth and there's plenty of amazing events going on around the year. The only down side are the rooms. The can feel a little congested at times. Alao there are no reading lamps anywhere in the room, be that at the study table or over the bed.

Good general experience, but some delays with promised cash back led to many students not having the money to carry on buying food without getting into further debt. Social events and free food are good. Room and en suite in good condition along with kitchen and social spaces

Booking late in Rosedale Court is not something you want to do. I know people who have a TV and bigger fridge in bryson Court and paid less than me. Safety is probably best feature though and gym is alright. One issue I have is fridge size however freezer is more than suitable.

Good size room/ en suite and the kitchen space is good I wouldn’t mind having a lock on the toilet door and being able to keep the radiator on for longer because the rooms are quite cold

Really disappointed. Gym is not working. There was no warm water for a few days. Delays in cashback. Parcels just for 4 hours, when there are loong queues. The washing machines usually not working and full. Expensive as well.

Good place to live. Staff sometimes not on the same page. Halls and lifts could do with more regular cleaning. There has been cobwebs above entrance way doors in Newton Block C since we moved in.

The maintenance people are really nice people and are always in a good mood. The people on the desk are always smiling and helpful. Also, the 24-hour desk is quite helpful for nights out or studying late. The couple days of the broken card reader was the only problem I have had with the accommodation, everything else has been great esspically for the price with tge cash back

Pretty average accommodation although expensive for what you're getting. Especially compared to the other university accommodations. Maintenance is pretty good. Lovely guys who are happy and willing to help. There have been multiple issues with keycards not working to the point where everyone has realised that you can just force the doors open if you lush hard enough. We also didn't have hot water for a week and were not compensated for it in any way.

Love it at Portland green. I’ve stayed at Rosedale Court for the last two years and it’s so cheap!! The rooms are a nice size, loads of storage and the kitchens are a good size too. The best part about Portland green are the staff, they truly cannot do enough for you. They really make it feel like a home away from home and the amount of social events that they have including quizzes, exercise classes etc really make a difference when you’re new and even to me my second year in. Overall, I couldn’t suggest it enough, so close to uni!

I have enjoyed the warm welcome to my accommodation with very helpful and friendly staff available to help you 24/7 , always clean and hygienic with lots of social spaces. Although it personally hasn’t been the best social experience for me the accommodation and staff itself has been amazing.

The staff are so helpful and friendly, the flats themselves are spacious and have great social kitchen/living areas. The halls themselves are in a great location with everything within walking distance

The WiFi is really poor and the gym is not working at all even if they are advertising how great gym they have. Moreover the cash back was delayed which is unfair because, they just give us an extra pizza night for “sorry”. There was no warm water for few days even if we pay so much for that place. Not recommended for that value sorry. I can recommend other accommodation like knoll court, where they are not promise everything but doing just great job, giving student what they need.

In my view Portland Green Student Village offers its tenants one of the best experiences that could be found in Newcastle. The team is very friendly and willing to answer any questions at any time. I would definitely recommend PGSV to anyone!

Portland Green is a brilliant place to stay. The location is really good it is a short walk to Uni, the City Centre and shops. I have made a lot of friends while staying here. It has a great balance of activities which are put on by the site. The staff are really friendly and approachable and are always happy to go the extra mile to help. I have booked to stay again next year with £1,300 cash back.

Part 2: Nevertheless, washing machines are really dirty and I’d never wash my white clothes there. Dryers don’t dry clothes completely what is a shame for this price. It’s definitely not an eco-friendly accommodation as they don’t have any bins outside for recyclable rubbish. I was shown a bigger flat during the viewing and my room turned out to be way smaller. Last year I lived in Rosedale Court which is way cheaper than Newton Court and the reason I decided to change the accommodation was the size of the room. The receptionist changed my room for another one, but I was charged £50 for that. I think it’s disgraceful as my other flatmates got way bigger rooms for the same price.

I live in a brand new Newton Court in Shieldfield, Newcastle. The biggest advantage of living here are definitely new, modern furniture, fitness suite and a spacious living room with kitchen. The location is great - it’s just 1-minute walk to Tesco Express, 7 minutes to Northumbria Business School and the library. My flat has a SmartTV, dishwasher and the most important - 2 large fridges! All rooms have an en-suite bathroom. WiFi is really fast. Walls are super thick so even if your neighbours organise a party, you still can study or sleep peacefully. Any problems and faults are repaired immediately. Parcel collection works efficiently. The reception is open 24/7 so even if you lose your key during the night out or have any other problem, they’re always there for you. You won’t get this quality anywhere in Newcastle for this price! Students who rebook for the next year get £1300 cashback that lowers the weekly price for about £30!!! Nevertheless, washing machines are really dirty and

I have lived in Student Accommodation for 4 years now. My first year was £31 more expensive per week. Although the rooms and kitchens were just as good as Abodus, the atmosphere, social events and staff were no-where near the standard of Abodus. The internet is very reliable and they host many events every month such as fitness classes, quizzes, parties. The value for money is good, especially with the cashback offer. It is the cheapest, yet biggest and best student accommodation in Newcastle.

Located right next to a Tesco and subway which is super helpful for shopping. There’s also a Morrison’s and GP within walking distance, it’s only a short walk to the centre of town and both universities which is convenient and it’s located in a nice area close to local pubs and food spots. The accommodation itself is well managed by the on site team who always endeavour to meet needs of all residents and always create events in the social area for free to attend which is a bonus and a good way of meeting new people. The only downside is the cost - without the cashback they’ve had on in previous years it is expensive and there are other alternatives for a cheaper price.

I believe PGSV to be a place that is a good price for students with a good friendly community atmosphere. They have regular events to get people involved. They also have a great team off staff that get to know you personally. It is this level of service that has made PGSV stand out.

Living in Portland Green Student Village is a great choice if you're looking for high quality rooms and flats. Common space in Bryson Court is good for bigger meetings with a lot of social events every month including free pizza and drinks. The location is excellent - 8 minutes to the Northumbria University, 15' to the city centre and 10' to Morrison's if you need bigger shopping. As the accommodation is close to Ouseburn there is a choice of pubs you can go to on a night out with good food during the day. If there are any maintenance issues, they can be easily logged online and the problem would be resolved in no time

I live in Bryson Court and absolutely love it. I have stayed there for two years now and wish I could have spent the entirety of my 4 years at University here. The onsite staff are super friendly and will always give you time even if just for a chat. There are several social events ran every single month for the residents. There are several onsite laundry rooms, bin storage rooms and the social spaces offer free pool and ping pong (as well as specific study rooms for when that time of year comes and you can't be bothered to treck to the library). There are also a Tesco and a subway literally a two-minute walk as well as nearby bus stations and metro stations for easy commuting if need be. Honestly couldn't recommend this place enough, especially for the price it is absolutely unrivalled.
Turner Court for me was, what I would best describe as a nightmare when I first moved in. I expected my accommodation to be at least somewhat lively, however at first I believed this wasn’t to be and it was going to be a stinker of a year. Yet all changed when I moved flats. Turner is separated into two blocks, Block A and Block B. Block B from my own personal perspective is the livelier of the two, and I found this out quickly. Turner is what you make it, and it is as clear as that. Moving flats was the single best decision of my life, and what I first believed was going to be an awful year actually has turned out to be the best year of my life. I have met friends for life in this accommodation, and my future house mates. Because Turner has relatively small numbers in flats (5-9) you begin to socialise in other flats, and thats why you shouldn’t be anxious of the social aspect of Turner. Honestly, it’s vital that you don’t hibernate in your room, and make it yours and own it.
Although not my first choice don’t worry it was never anyone’s if you get it ! It’s perfect location for town and the staff are lovely ! Because use are 20 mins walk away from other newcastle halls it does make you former close friendships- I have met my best friends here and I am so greatful!
Turner Court is very well-decorated and modern, it might be a bit further than most accommodations but a lot closer than where most will live in second and third year. Situated above a Tesco and Subway which is great, close to other accommodation such as Liberty Quay, and only a 15 minute walk away from Quayside. Socially good in freshers, but dies out a bit as most do, probably because nobody ever used the common room if they weren't waiting for their laundry. No cleaner but honestly not a big deal at all. A bit expensive, but all student accommodation is, and a lot cheaper than the similar ones offered.
Although the layout of the flats is not particularly social in my experience Turner Court is what you make it, once you mix with other flats it's easy to invite people over and make it more of a social environment. Saying that, the common room is a bit dull and so it isn't really a space where many people spend a lot of time which is a shame. The rooms are modern and have plenty of storage. The bathrooms are sometimes a bit of an issue, my shower backed sometimes and so did a few other people's that I'd spoken to, but it was nothing overly problematic. Laundry is straight forward and I never had any issues with it. Overall though Turner Court is a decent place to live and only 15 minutes away from uni.
