Very friendly staff - especially Gareth in the office. The staff will always try and help if there is an issue. The cleaners are great, albeit they will tell you if the flat needs cleaning by those residing there. Corridors and bathrooms are always cleaned. That said, the facilities are outdated and the building is starting to show its age. Heard staff mention a refurb, think Bede Hall will be fantastic when this is done. I hope they put a lift in to the top floor if it is refurbed. The courtyard is a lovely space, but can get a bit noisy at night if there has been a gathering. There is security on site, but they aren't always available due to looking after other buildings. Fortunately campus security are always on hand 24/7 365 if need be. Either way, I always felt safe at Bede Hall. Overall, Bede has been great value for money and would reccomend.
I’m going to be honest. Bede hall is great for the value, it’s close to lectures and campus and the pekole are generally nice. Would I recommend this accommodation as a female? No. We’ve been here a MONTH and there has already been a rape. Turns out there were 2 sexual assaults last year too. Feels like since this is the cheapest it’s where predators like to live :). I’m constantly on edge living here as lots of the lads make uncomfortable comments and it doesn’t seem like this is a new thing in bede. I’d recommend buying something slightly steaper and knowing you’re going to be protected and safe. (Glassworks, castle court, liberty, filbert) all I’d recommend over bede. Stay safe.
Mark and Jordan are friendly and will go out of their way to help you. Hall manager is useless and cleaners are very rude. Not sure what the cleaners jobs are though because they don't clean much and just leave the flat a note telling you to clean up. However, they didn't even do this in my flat which left it becoming disgusting and nothing was done for weeks to the point where I was hospitalised for over a week with a virus...wouldn't surprise me if it was from the kitchen . Fire alarm every Wednesday morning and about 2 more go off in the week. Parcels are a pain to get, most of the time they're left outside as no one is in reception or if they are delivered when someone is in reception, it is impossible to get as no one will be there for a while. Bedrooms are small but can be made to be cosy.
Good accomodation which is friendly and clean.
Cheapest halls at the uni! Amazing social life! Bede is a mad house and is perfect for first years looking to meet some amazing people.
Highly recommend bede Hall as your place of residence, being one of the cheapest halls it is well worth your money. Everyone is super social and it's very easy to make freinds. You will get over the sharing a bathroom part very quickly as it's not an issue at all. The staff are really cool and pretty laid back when it comes too parties. In the summer everyone hangs out on the main grass bit which is great fun. WiFi is good, never had any real problems with it. Great location too.
loud annoying people, everything smells like vomit and weed, drunk strangers will sleep outside your room and the internet barely loads messenger. Security doesn't do s*** even though I complained about flatmate smoking in their room 3 times.
had the best year of my life at Bede and met so many amazing people, if you are up for going out drinking and socialising all the time then Bede is the place for you. you have to accept that you're in one of the cheaper accommodations so the facilities are very basic but I wouldn't have wanted to live anywhere else. the majority of hall managers are rude and unreliable and cleaners just tend to organise your mess rather than actually clean it, but these are things worth sacrificing for the lifestyle and friends I made at Bede. there is always someone to go and see or spend time with and i feel that Bede has one of the best communities compared to any other student accommodations, you just have to be accepting of the noise from the courtyard as there is never a quiet night in Bede.
One of the cheapest halls and while it does have issues with Wifi and management, the social experience here is second to none as is literally minutes away from campus and other important locations (eg. supermarkets, chemists, fast food places, and the G.P.)
Lovely hall with a large grass area for socialising, great for freshers week. Poor management and rude hall manager, not happy to help students at all.
Its pretty cheap but if you don't like sharing a bathroom then don't book to stay at bede hall :)
Amazing first year based at bede! Meet the most incredible friends thanks to this halls! Bede foreverz
Pretty average halls, there are so many better in Leicester.
Bede hall is a good accommodation.its the cheapest.Reasonable spaced rooms.
Cheapest Halls, you get what you pay for but the square in the middle is the best social space out of all the halls I've seen.
Great quality rooms, with modern facilities. Met some great people, and made some cracking memories.
The only down side to Bede is that you have to pay for washing machines we pay enough for rent and Internet washing machines and dryers really should be free
It is a bit too expensive considering theres ten students per flat and there's no communal area. Cleaners don't clean that often and students are treated like children regarding health and safety.
Bede was really good for the price it was it just has naff facilities compared to the other halls
halls were ok, flatmates were most definitely not. absolutely filthy and management never did anything to actually pinpoint the people who were responsible
Very sociable halls but falling apart slightly. Dave the handyman will try to help wherever he can though! The courtyard is great as you meet everyone there during fresher's week, it's very much a social area. My only advice would be: don't expect the lap of luxury, but you won't be too hard done by either.
the standards of cleaning that we are expected to adhere to are not adhered to by the f***** cleaning staff. Place stinks, there is literally no social space and worst of all, if you live on the 4th floor (like me), be prepared to go up and down 8 flights of stairs every day until you're in 2nd year.
The halls are a bit dirty and everything is falling apart but it's good for making friends
Great for meeting new people however could do with a better social area, kitchen is basic and has a table and out dated chairs in it. A few months into the year I experienced mould on my windows, under my desk and damp that bad that my clothes where damp when I went to put them on - I have had many sleepless nights due to being on the ground floor and facing out into the court yard
