Shelly is really nice, the social spaces were good. Nice to have a gym and study room, and the main social area was good although the table tennis table, table football, and pool table got broken/damaged/lost pretty early into the year. The studio room was nice and clean, well designed, just about big enough for me and my partner to share.

The Barn Biography
Located in the heart of the city centre is where you’ll find The Barn. There are plenty of bars, shops and restaurants right on your doorstep, so you will never be bored! You’ll never be late for lectures as the University of Exeter main campus is a sixteen-minute walk away and the St Luke’s campus is a seven-minute walk away. Exeter Central (train station) is a mere twelve-minute walk away, making commuting a breeze.
The Barn offers a social area with a TV, multimedia room with a karaoke machine, video gaming dens, pool and table football, an outdoor courtyard and a gym available to use whenever you want. You can also make use of the quiet study area, cycle store, laundry facilities, vending machine, communal kitchen and dining room. There is a friendly dedicated on-site residents team, Wi-Fi, CCTV and content insurance for your benefit.
You can choose to stay in an en-suite room in a cluster flat, a studio or in a duplex. All of the rooms are spacious and stylishly designed making it the perfect home away from home. All of the rooms are furnished with a small double bed, workspace and ample storage. The studio and duplex rooms are kitted out with a mini-kitchen and are perfect if you are wanting a little more privacy.

Very good accommodation, close to the centre of town
Shelly is really nice, the social spaces were good. Nice to have a gym and study room, and the main social area was good although the table tennis table, table football, and pool table got broken/damaged/lost pretty early into the year. The studio room was nice and clean, well designed, just about big enough for me and my partner to share.
Overall this accommodation is good however, if I had known that I’d be on the ground floor I would not have stayed at the barn. With the communal area so close to bedrooms the noise was unbearable. The nights before exams I had to sleep with head phones on due to people screaming and talking loudly directly outside my door till early hours in the morning, yet despite emailing management about this issue nothing was done, not even a response to my concern. Overall the barn has been great, good location, clean, and great rooms, but the noise and the lack of real concern about attempting to rectify it has made me wish I chose another accommodation to stay at, specifically considering the amount of money I and others have paid to stay here.

The Barn is really close to the city center with international shops and restaurants surrounding it. The reception team is wonderful and very accommodating and help with whatever issue you might face. They also create fun socials and sessions for you to interact in and offer food and snacks sometimes. Any maintenance issue is dealt with as quickly as possible and has made my life easier. The social spaces they offer such as the gym and the communal area is great and spacious. Never had any problem with the WiFi, it’s always been fast and reliable. I would really recommend this accommodation compared to other private ones

The size of the room is just right, very comfortable, and the layout of the space is very reasonable. The apartment is located in the city center, which is very convenient. The management staff are very warm and friendly.

I have really enjoyed my time at the barn, though of course COVID has rather limited the social interactions for a studio flat user like me. Management/reception has been responsive and helpful over my time here and the facilities available are top quality. The location is also excellent, being close enough to walk to uni comfortably but placed centrally in town for easy access to shopping. Internet access is also usually good, though done through a secondary provider that can be a little limiting. Overall, very good though of course not cheap.

A very friendly accommodation! The staff are very nice and the rooms and kitchen are quite spacious. The location is also very convenient.

It’s a relatively good experience. However, given the covid circumstances where most of facilities were inaccessible, a partial refund on the rent would be good.
This is a great apartment, the reception staff are friendly, and the apartment is safe.I will strongly recommend my friend to choose this apartment.

The facilities inside the accommodation are really good, but I have not had the opportunity to take full advantage of them due to Covid-19. I wish there were more opportunities to meet other residents.

Very happy with my experience at the Barn and this is why I have renewed my contract for next year. I love that I get to spend time with my friends in the common social area, have an equipped gym accessible whenever I want to workout, a study space when I need a more quiet space to work. In addition, the location is great since shops aren’t too far away (as well as bars, restaurants, cinemas...).
Hello! Thank you for remaining with us. We have had quite a few rebookers here at The Barn which is great as we know were are getting things right. The social spaces are very well desiged with a massive table, cooker, music docking station for playing tunes, vending machine, large TV room and gym. There is also the quiet study room as you say for you and friends if assignments are group-orientated. These spaces allow people to have their friends over and can be booked for special occasions such as birthdays or just relaxing after handing-in essays. There is also the external social area that is secure for gatherings. We have had people stay here for up to 3 years so far which means we get to know people really well and are sad to see them leave once their studies are over. Thank you ever so much for taking the time to leave us a review! We are loving the admiration for the site and our efforts to make you stay here are pleasuarble as possible while you study. Cheers!

Hello! We do try to put on treats for all our students to enjoy when we have the chance. We also try to make special occasions like Halloween and Chinese New Year special for those many miles from home. First of all, all staffs in The Barn are very nice and helpful! The gym room down stairs is very convenient for me because during lockdown all the gym are closed but I can still go to gym as usual.

Hello! Thanks ever so much for noticing the cleanliness of the premises. I will pass your comments on to Debbie who is great at what she does! We also try to be as supportive as we can as we know how much pressure a course of study can be. We try to take away any concerns you have to make sure you have the peace you need. We do have a very nice gym that is open 24/7 permitting. We also try to put on events when we can to make sure students mingle and feel like it's a friendly place to be. Your feedback is wonderful as it means we are finding the balance that keeps our students happy and carefree during their stay. I just want to add that we love doing what we do and it's made soooooo much better by having people stay here that are friendly and relaxed. Thanks!!! :)
Occupying a studio in the Barn has been a superb experience six months in. As with everything, what makes or breaks an environment is the staff which run the operation. That is something where the Barn has hit gold. Upon your first arrival, a staff member will greet you by name. This instantly makes you feel welcome, particularly during the trying time that is moving into new accommodation, and is indicative of the usual level of service provided to all residents. The impeccable amenities including a gym (to roll out of bed into), the conscientious of the staff, who go above and beyond, the central city centre location, and the generous size of my studio has made staying at the Barn for the first year of my History undergraduate degree at Exeter University a thoroughly memorable experience.
Hi! Thank you for your lovely feedback and support fo us! We get very excited about meeting new people and looking after the students that have been here for longer - many for up to 3 years now. Our gym is very good and many students stay here to use this area with it's running machines, rowing machines, cross-trainers, cycling machines and free weights. We are particularly proud of our gym, thank you for appreciating it! We are lucky to be situatated in such a prime area close to shops, resturants and night-life.
