I had a fantastic experience at Home for Student Exeter One accommodation. The convenience of a 24/7 store next door is a major plus. The rooms offer an amazing view, and the staff is exceptionally helpful. Being just a 15-minute walk from the university and having a bus station across the road makes transportation easy. Highly recommend!

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

I am in private accommodation seperate from the university ☺️
Great places to live in if you like to socialise with trustworthy people and enjoy some alone in the wood vibes as well
I had a fantastic experience at Home for Student Exeter One accommodation. The convenience of a 24/7 store next door is a major plus. Excellent service and top notch staff. Yes it may not have all the extras, other accommodations provides , but the student experience and the staff make up for it .it's worth every bit of your money spent
good, a perfect place for living, so kind staff
A private accommodation hidden gem. As an international student, the employees at this accommodation are more than welcoming to help you settle in. They are always helpful and just lovely individuals. The rooms at this accommodation are such great value for money too, I can’t see anything better on the market for double beds and en-suites. Located on an easily accessible road for easy commute via bus or a short walk to the university. I would recommend this to any upcoming student.
I have really enjoyed it here the staff are lovely and helpful. Looking forward to my stay next year.
I've really loved living at Exeter One so far! Josh, Lee-Ann, Sam, and all of the staff are really friendly and helpful, maintenance etc. is always done really quickly, and it's generally just been really nice living here :)
Great value for money, staff are friendly and quick to respond to any problems. Bus stops right outside to easy transport.
It is my worst living experience in student accommodation. There were loads of things broken when I first moved in, the chairs in both my room and shared kitchen, the temperature adjuster in bathroom, food in fridge went off quickly. The bins area is always full, that’s awful. When that happens, the staff just sent emails to ask use not to throw any garbage in until the bins were being collected. You need to use coins for the laundry and the clothes never dry, an extra £21 need to be paid if you are locked out your room and need to wait at least 2 hours. You have to wait ages for staff to reply emails and maintenance. For example, there was no hot water supply during weekend, I do not know why yet it happened THREE TIMES IN A MONTH. Not to mention Exeter One’s location, it is near the railroad and the main road, it is always very noisy throughout the day. It is not close to the uni and city centre, which takes 20min and 35min to walk to respectively.
Great staff, always friendly and accommodating. The rooms are spacious and good value for money -- cheapest ensuites I've seen anywhere in Exeter. It's a bit far out but there's a handy 24/7 a few doors away. The only improvement I would make would be to the washing facilities; there are 3 washing machines and 3 driers between 4 blocks of students. It's also cash only, and you don't get change back. Besides that though, it's a wonderful place to live and you'll meet lots of great people at Exeter One. I'm happy to have spent my final year here.
in the little months i have spent time in exeter one i have enjoyed. maintenance and housekeeping are quick and nice and reception team very nice. events are very cool! will be rebooking!!
Staffs around here are super nice. The reception responds enquiry fast.
Exeter One is my home away from home. The flats are lovely and spacious, and the staff are all so friendly. They will help you in any way they possibly can, even if you just need a chat. I can't recommend highly enough!!!
All round amazing accommodation and staff. The staff are always up for a chat and are very supporting when an problems arise.
cleaner comes weekly and is only responsible for cleaning in stairs, it could be quite dirty sometimes. social space is limited, only a small room provided, hence there is just a few activities hosted. the maintenance is terrible, I have waited for a month to replace the broken stuff in my room. it could be inconvenient sometimes because students in four buildings share three washing machines, which is quite inadequate especially during the weekends. it only accept coins and exact charge. I really wish they could increase some washing and drying machines. ** there is no elevator in the building, hence you need to pay 21 pounds and wait for 2 hours if you have been locked out from your room** the only advantage will be the location, it is near to school which only takes 17~ 20mins walk, at the meanwhile it takes 30 min walk to city centre. I would recommend this if you want a quite environment to study and would like to sleep more in the morning during school days.
Such a great place to start off my first year at Exeter Uni! People never fail to be friendly, a convenient Morrisons on standby and amazing staff to help you with any queries. My kitchen is great and the common room is so lively. As a student leaving the nest for the first time, Exeter one couldn’t have done any better easing me into adult life.
This is the best place I have ever lived at. Chris and Lee-anne are incredible people and really try with social events to get everyone involved. Student Warden Beth is the kindest and most hardworking and humble person you will ever meet, add her instagram (beth_obrien._). Would 10/10 recommend for any student of any age - diverse and equal.
It has a nice view. the staff are super friendly and attentive. good social space. close to the university , has a 24 hour store near by.
The accommodation is very good. The management team in particular are excellent. The location is a bit far from town but there is an esso right next to it for any emergency food. The social spaces and experience are very good there a nice large open common room to hang out with other students in and study in.
It's really chill, a very nice little community
Exeter one is amazing value for money compared to the other university accommodations considering an en suite room is cheaper here than a shared bathroom at Birks Grange village. The staff are really friendly and easy to talk to. Overall a great accommodation.
Great value for money and people are great
Amazing accommodation! The staff are really friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
Great and engaging receptionist, friendly neighbours
The staff is very friendly and available to help at all times. The location is near to the university and the rooms are also super clean. Feels like home away from home... :)
Good accommodation, unfortunately not near many easily accessible shops but delivery is avaliable plus the work isnt too bad
very nice, it is near the university and convenient. And it is comfortable. Reliable price and quality. Good.
Staff at reception, especially Lee-Anne, are so kind and are always welcoming and eager to have a chat. I feel so at home at Exeter One and this is all thanks to the staff; there is always something fun happening that allows us to socialise while also remain socially distanced from other students. Lee-Anne is extremely dedicated to the accommodation and is definitely what makes living here worth it!!!!
Brilliant student hall, the staff have tried really hard to make sure we have a good year despite the circumstances we’ve had to come to uni in. The rooms are even bigger than they look in the photos and much nicer than other student halls (but cheaper). Fast wifi, would recommend !!
Exeter One has been the most amazing experience and I honestly could not have chosen a better accomodation
Living in Exeter One for the last two years has allowed me to meet people who are now my closest friends. The rooms are so much nicer than you would find in other student accommodations, with spacious en-suite bathrooms and a really nice modern kitchen too. One of the best things about the accommodation is the reception team, who are always so helpful and willing to go above and beyond to make your time there as happy as possible. Definitely one of the best accommodations for students studying in Exeter!
Thank you so much for your fantastic review of Exeter One! We really appreciate your thoughts on the property and love to read that not only have you enjoyed the accomodation as a whole, but you have also amde lifetime friends through staying with us! The Exeter One Team
The accommodation locates next to the river and within beautiful scene. This helps me to comfortably studying at my room rather than going to the University during this unprecedented time (Covid-19). The staff at the reception are extremely friendly and supporters. I live in a studio, now for two months, and I confirm that the block where I live (Block D) is very quiet. I am thinking of living there for another year. The only downside which I hope to solve is improving the system and handling of parcel deliveries. Thank you Exeter One.
Thank you for your recent review of Exeter One and we really appreciate your thoughts. With regads to the handling of parcels, the reason we currently have it like we do is in order to minimise the handling of parcels due to the current COVID situation. This will change once everything is more relaxed. Exeter One Team
WARNING Do not booking Accommodation with Exeter one or Amber Student they are Not Refunding Students during a COVID-19
Could not have asked for a better place to stay. Everything I needed was here and if I needed help with anything I knew I could feel free to ask! Thank you so much for my time here! :)
Thank you for your review! We are glad to hear that you have enjoyed your stay with us. Kind regards, Exeter One Team
I have loved living at Exeter One during my first year at university. Even though all my lectures were at St.Luke's campus, a good 45 minute walk away, the staff are so lovely, and my flatmates so great, that it was definitely worth it. But saying that, wouldn't recommend it for students based at st Luke's unless you really like walking (or buses)! The flats are really nice, well furnished and a good size, the WiFi is good, and if anything ever stops working or breaks you can count on the one-man show that is maintenance to sort it out! The staff are approachable and lovely so if you ever have any problems or just fancy a chat, you can just head to reception. The common room is a really nice space to study and socialise, and reception puts on some really great events in there as well. The town is a 25 minute walk away, but there are regular buses from Exeter One to town if you don't fancy the walk :)
Thank you for an amazing review! We are glad to hear that although Exeter One was far away from your main campus, we made the journey worth it. We are always here with a cup of tea and smile :) Kind regards, Exeter One Team
Exeter One, and Homes for Students, have really helpful staff which makes choosing it a to live an easy choice. It is also located within walking distance to the uni campus and the train station, so it is in a great spot. The hill up to the campus can be a bit of a killer bit exercise never hurts! There is a bus stop outside that goes into town too. The rooms are a great size and the kitchens are modern and clean. All in all I would highly recommend Exeter one ,it’s good value for money, it’s in a great location and the social spaces it provides lets you meet a bunch of new friends!
Thank you very much for your kind words regarding Exeter One. We are really pleased to read that you enjoyed your time here with us.
A fantastic site with spacious, modern rooms, friendly residents and welcoming staff. Facilities include bike racks, an on-site laundrette and a common room. I have lived here 3 years and never had a reason to move. Overall, my experience has been fabulous!
Hi Ross, Thank you for your review! We are glad to hear you have enjoyed your stay with us at Exeter One. Kind regards, Exeter One Team
I've loved living in Exeter One for my 1st Year of Uni. The reception team are so welcoming, involving and easy to talk to if you need anything fixed in your flat. The walk to Streatham is uphill for 10-15 mins but it's a good form of exercise. It's not the most convenient location for big supermarket shops/ clubbing since town is a 25/30 min walk but essentials can be bought from the Esso garage just outside or you can get a cheap bus back! The rooms are nice and the kitchen is much more spacious and modern compared to others so I'd say it's good value for money. Would recommend this accommodation to anyone who doesn't mind a bit of extra walking to see friends and go to lectures. If your bedroom is facing the road, you can barely hear any noise. It has never disturbed my revision! Overall, was very happy living here :)
Thank you for your amazing review and the useful advise you have provided for future residents. We are pleased to see that you have enjoyed your stay with us. Kind regards The Exeter One Team
I have enjoyed living here this past year, the staff all very friendly and glad to help you. The room itself is spacious and good to study in. The facilities are all of a good standard and it’s only a short walk from uni. I have enjoyed the accomodation so much that I will staying here again this upcoming academic year!
Hi Emma, Thank you for your review! Looking foward to having you for the upcoming academic year. Kind regards, Exeter One Team
The staff here helped me a lot, teach me a lot in life. I can feel warm here. And it is near the campus.
Covid-19: In this special time they can work as usual is a great help to me.
Thank you for your review! We are glad to hear that at Exeter One, we have created a nurturing and welcoming place for you. Kind regards, Exeter One Team
absolutely lovely accommodation and services. i have stayed in this accommodation for 3 years and the property management made my experience in the accommodation better
Covid-19: they took proper measures to make sure we were all safe and social distancing especially when picking up parcels
Thank you for your review! We are glad to hear that you have enjoyed your time at Exeter One and our team has added to your experiance. Kind regards, Exeter One Team
From what ive heard from my friends and their accommodations, I wouldnt want to live anywhere else in exeter. - Lovely staff that put effort into giving us social events that put other accommodations to shame - Common room equipped with Sky Sports, pool table etc - Problems with your room gert solved quickly - 24hr service station+subway next door Ive already re-booked for next year. However be prepared for the hill to campus, it can be a killer sometimes.
Covid-19: I thought this was optional
Thank you for your review! We are glad to hear that you have enjoyed our social events and your stay with us. We can't wait to have you again for the upcoming acadamic year- look out for our events and competitions. Kind regards, Exeter One Team

Thank you for your review! We absoultely love hearing that our team is creating great social events. We look foward to having you next year, with some even better events. Kind regards The Exeter One Team
The staff are all really friendly and very accommodating. The halls are also a good distance from the main campus, and there is a garage close-by with a good range of food items. Whilst it is not the closest accommodation to the main city centre, it is an easily walkable distance, and its proximity to the main train station in Exeter (about 15 minutes) is very convenient.
Thank you for your review on Exeter One. We really apreciate your kind words regarding our accomdation as we do try our best to make everyone feel welcome.
The staff don't want to undertake responsibility which they are supposed to undertake. This kind of thing happened not only one time.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. Please contact us at reception and let us know what has happend and allow us to resolve this for you. Kind regards The Exeter One Team
Overall ok but I wouldn't recommend. It's right next to a busy road on one side and a train tracks on the other. Whilst the windows do a good job of cancelling out the sound, when your windows are open, I find fumes coming from all different directions whilst I'm studying and often have to just keep it closed. Additionally, in summer the halls are extremely hot but sadly you cant leave your windows open overnight because the trains going past are so loud. Make sure to invest in a fan, as your room will turn into a furnace otherwise. This halls is also quite isolated and you have to get the bus into town every time you want to go shopping. There is a petrol garage for immediate essentials but this is really quite expensive so I try to avoid it. The best thing about this is probably the friendly staff - friendly and efficient. The social area is small (the photos online made it seem a bit bigger) and there are a limited amount of plugs, but it has a pool table which is cool.
Thank you for you feedback. We have taken all of your feedback on board and will pass this inforamtion on. I am glad to see that overall you enjoyed your stay here and especially appreciate your kind remarks regarding the staff. We will look to make improvements for future residents. Kind regards Exeter One Team
The accommodation was good, I liked my room a lot and the position is strategic. It is really close to a gas station that runs 24/7 providing food and basic supplies. I also really liked the position in terms of distance from the city centre and from the centre of the campus. The social experience for me was not the greatest, but this was probably due to my bad luck in terms of flat mates. In the overall I suggest it, it is a great accommodation that provides services like yoga and workout classes!
Thank you for your review! We are glad to hear you enjoyed living here and our yoga and workout classes. Kind regards The Exeter One Team
Awful location, rooms are nice but the sound of the road and trains is so loud
Thank you for your feedback. Although we are not city centre located, we are only a 15 minute walk to the University itself. In regards to the rooms, thank you for your comments. We do understand that the roads can be a little noisy during peak times. We have installed well structured windows and when closed they do cancel out the vast majority of noise. We will take your comments on board and look to make further improvements for future residents. Kind regards The Exeter One Team
Good sized rooms, friendly and committed staff, good social spaces
Thank you for your review. Kind regards The Exeter One Team
Although quite expensive and far out over all is a good accommodation. The management here are by far what makes the accommodation a lovely place to live. Any maintenance problems are usually fixed straight away (like same day) and the management in reception are the most welcoming. Only improvements would be newer furniture and more social events in the common room, there have so been many. Something on almost every week- which you don’t get at other accommodations, just wish more revolved around socialising rather than fitness etc.
Thank you for your review and feedback! We are glad to hear that we are doing a good job. Now with our lovely CSA Seb, we will be trying to put on regular social events in the common room, with a mix of fitness and just a good old social. Kind regards, Exeter One Team
Exeter One like many things is what you make of it. I have had the most wonderful year living in my flat. It is a very nice building with all the essentials you require as a student. The staff are some of the nicest and most accommodating group of people you will have as landlords and building managers. They will go out of their way to help and get to know you. You can not go wrong by staying here. Do your research though if you want to live closer to town or campus look at your options. You cant get a better situation for the money though.
Thank you for your review on Exeter One and thank you again for your kind words. We really do strive as a team to make everyone feel welcome here and have the best time that they can and will go above and beyond to do so. With regards to the city centre, you're right. Although we are only a 15 minute walk from the campus the walk to the city centre can take around 25 minutes. However; there are plenty of busses heading straight into the city centre and as you stated, we are one of thecheapest accomodations within the city. Thank you again, Team Exeter One.
This is my first year with Exeter One and I love it. The floor and the room is clean. The studio room is very spacious to workout or have a clutter free room. However, it is far from the city centre, there is a bus station outside the accommodation directly. The walking to university is somewhat far up the hill but, what is a great way to have a walk as an exercise with busy student life where it is hard to have a workout schedule. The tuesday workout session is fun and the common room is big enough to study and have fun outside your room. Lee Ann is very supportive and solves your queries with a smile on her face. Kevin is the person you need in the accommodation with wishing you a good morning whenver he sees you and for any maintenace or fixes in your room. The price of the studio room is fairly cheap to have with a big room, wide desk and a private kitchen. I would recommend this accommodation.
Thank you for an amazing review! This has put a smile on both of our faces, we are happy to hear you have enjoyed your stay here. As well as taking the opportunity to get in some exercise :) Kind regards, Exeter One Team
Exeter one is good value for money, lots of space, with modern rooms and kitchens. It is a 10 - 15 minute walk from the Streatham campus, that is a little tiring but not unbearable. It’s a little closed off in terms of socialising but it really depends on your own mindset...if you come to make friends and make an effort you can definitely do so. In summary, it’s a good hall.
Thank you for your kind review on Exeter One and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We taken your words on board and have since implemented more money from our budget into the common area where we hold different events for our students.
I have given this rate for certain reasons also been a student for 3 years and tried several different accommodations and I have tried the studio room. The place is a complete joke, I couldnt sleep from the loud noises of the trains and quite long walk of 25 minutes to the Forum which is the main building at the university. Furniture is quite old, management is undescribeavle such that you need to pay a fee if you left your keys by mistake in your room after 5 p.m and till 9 a.m the next morning for calling an external security company. The place is remote and when I call it far I mean 30 mins walking to city centre and buses are not frequent. Plus the place is not worth at all what you pay for. Social life is really low and maintenance is literally terrible. Really cant see any point of staying here but would never think about this place.
The place is modern, new and clean. It's around 15 minutes from the main campus of Streatham. The staff were nice but nothing amazing and did not organize any events so it could be hard to met others people except your roomates. There is nothing around except the Esso shop who can provide you some food which is sometimes useful. It's 30 - 40 minutes from the city centre, the only place where you can find foostore. So you either have the choice to take the bus (1,80 pound one way) or to use food Delivery service. Finally, the rent is as expensive as other uni accomodation but which are better located. I would not recommend this place is not well located and you will not enjoy your stay in Exeter as much as if you were staying downtown.
Mansion one was a nice experience. Not much to say. It ran well. I think that the 24 hour store just around the corner mitigated the distance from the city center. There is also a direct bus from the front of the halls to the city center and to the university. It is around 15 minutes walking distance to the business school (An uphill climb through the halls. However if you took the flatter route, it would take you around 30 minutes). The rent is decent and it has been a very international accommodation. This is the best part, as you will meet people and normally become very close friends with people from countries you only heard the name maybe once or twice (Looking at you Suriname) lol
Good plan to live. Rooms are good sizes and the staff are friendly. Location is close to the Uni but far from town - though there is a bus stop just outside and a convenience shop. Social experience was good considering I was in a studio, though not as good as standard halls.
Really not impressed after a year of living there...... You're treated like a customer every step of the way. For wifi, although all residents are entitled to Wi-Fi, you can get "better" Wi-Fi at higher speeds and bandwidth by paying £15.00 a month. Key systems are built so you leave your key in your room and it'll lock you outside automatically. So people rarely leave their rooms, you won't meet anyone outside your flatmates in Mansion Exeter. Location's not bad I guess, and they do clean the corridors, but I really wouldn't recommend this place unless you're beyond desperate.
Really nice rooms, really nice place, just not good for socializing or meeting new people like you would in Halls with shared kitchens etc
