All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Good sized bedroom though the bathroom resembles an airplane toilet it’s that small lmao! Always smells, I’m assuming it’s bad sewage because it can be horrific sometimes
On another note, the brutal architecture isn’t very pleasant to look at, the food is overpriced and of bad quality. The facilities are not well taken care of. Internet quality is also very bad and slow here. I wonder how they can execute scientific applications with the level of quality that is there currently. I would suggest going elsewhere.
Felt we should have got a lot more for our money compared to others, i am moving into campus accommodation next year that is far superior for the same price. Location wise, right above spar, 15mins away from either end of campus, can be noise after a night out, but only had an issue when I left my window open. Porters will literally do anything for you to help you out and the cleaners come everyday (pretty much). Wifi can be hit and miss depending on the room that's why we preferred ResNet (ethernet cable) to Eduroam (wifi). Only got a small kitchen for 8 people, didn't get a sofa or anything which made us feel short changed (see first point).
Internet is just so bad, not too far from campus tho
Very good and modern, wifi and heating works prefect and the beds are amazing
Close to the university and best bedroom
One of the best living spaces but the management team let it down and costs alot more
1st year was made right here, Met friends for life here
A great place to keep your head down and have a great time without the constant noise and interruptions living right on top of all the action.
New, clean and comfortable. Very safe and beautiful location, just a 7 minute walk from campus. Laundrette and Pavillion are very close by. Regular cleaning of common rooms and kitchens, flats typically close and a wonderful experience. No big problems have been faced, and any insignificant problems were reported and dealt with immediately by management.
Expensive, but nice and clean. Has a bit of a rat problem, but unfortunately the University refuses to get rid of my flatmates ¬_¬
Meadows is so homely, yet only a couple of minutes from campus! Best of both worlds!
Brilliant luxury accommodation.
Amazing halls, massive kitchens and living area. Double beds are the best thing, makes sharing a bathroom with my neighbour fine.
I was in the townhouse and believe me it was the best experience of my life. Met some amazing people, and had the most fun ever. Pre drinks in the townhouse kitchens was also a plus.
Quite expensive for what it is but really nice accommodation!
lived there last year for my first year in university. Best accommodation to spend your undergraduate period in
Outrageously expensive for an en suite which is tiny
