Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
It has been a good year so far. It is great as the rent includes gym facilities and laundry
I was a little concerned when I booked my room here, I wasn't sure I was getting the best deal. After reaching here I realized very soon that I might actually have the best room. Nobody else provides free laundry and gym while also ensuring that common spaces in the building are regularly cleaned and maintained. They have regular checks and respond immediately to any concern raised. I've had a great time living at Student Block and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place.
Really really good place to live!!! Staff are really friendly and the rooms are a great size. The showers are amazing!
I have lived in a 1 bedroom, the space and facilities are fantastic. Location is the highlight.
I enjoyed staying here because of its location in town, and the walk on to uni campus is not too far. I liked having my own ensuite and the kitchen is a good size for sharing. The team are good at communicating, and maintenance are quick at responding to any issues.
Great location in Loughborough town centre, only a 15 mins walk to university and 5 mins to Tesco. The reception is very friendly and helpful, they put your parcels in the gym so you can collect it at the weekend.;)) The interior layout and furnishings are nice, a massive table for art student haha.I live on the ground floor and the sound insulation and warmth of the room is exactly what I need. I’ll definitely recommend this accommodation who are looking for a rental place!
A brilliant living experience - would highly recommend!
location is good, central town. The thing I love just how convenient it is, one big asian supermarket, Tesco, some good pubs. And people I met here are very friendly and respectful. I had amazing time staying here, and the receptionists are very helpful, so I do recommend if u wanna have a proper social life outside the Uni
