Really love it here! The flats are bright and modern, close to shops, bars and cafes on campus. Stable wifi signal, affordable, definitely recommend! Some people were on a complaining spree due to covid

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
It’s not the closest to everyone else, but it’s at least close to transportation and has all the basic amenities that you need. However, the cleaning is very inconsistent and I have no idea who my residential advisor is.
Probably the worst accommodation I have ever live! The staffs are very unhelpful and incompetent in doing everything such as cleaning and even finding a delivery for you and blame your delivery is unclear to them. The reception always keep closing so that you won't be able to find them to help and get your delivery (All delivery boxes are keep in the reception and you have to wait for them to give you). The cleaning and hygiene is poor. Although theoretically they claim the staff should clean once a week. But in reality they only clean once every 2 weeks, and the pavements are covered with mud and nobody bother to clean it. Still could be worse, the kitchen often have rats and flies appear.
Pretty awful. WiFi never worked, we had a flood and ant infestation that took forever to be sorted. So far from all the parties and social stuff. Would not recommend

Lovely building, good wifi, great fun! Definitely recommend Stanmer Flats as accommodation here
Honestly not as bad as the reviews here. It is fine. My flat mates are great and the room is big. The kitchen is also spacious with a fridge and a separate freezer. You need to walk a little to get to the center of campus but its not a big deal. I am in the block right next to the train station and I cannot her the trains tbh... Also, it is fun because when going down to Brighton being next to the train station is soooo convenient. Everyone else has to walk a lot.
Barely ever any hot water here and the wifi is almost always spotty. Be prepared to use all your data
WIFI is constantly down and the place is moldy and always smells of socks
Staff are nice, s*** location far off of campus with nought near it but a train station. Next to the A27 so you'll hear f****** great lorries 24/7. Won't shell out for double-glazed windows so you'll also be f****** freezing, especially as the heating won't come on most of the day. Internet drops regularly for no reason at all. People will need access to your room for no reason at all almost every week. Requires a "access card" to enter the premises which stops working regularly and without warning, leaving you locked out of the building. Social area is small and stinks of BO for some reason. Showers leak onto the floor. Windows are small and sunk into the wall so the room receives barely any light even at the height of the day. Circuit laundromats, so I don't think I need to elaborate on how poor that is. No road access so deliveries will be made to the railway station or not at all. Not worth £160 rent, probably barely worth £110.
If you ever have any issues with your room they will not be sorted no matter how much you ask. They think it doesn’t matter as you’re a student
I'm not in Halls. Yet I cant move on without filling this in. Ignore all these values.
Very antisocial, dark rooms with awful lighting, thin windows so you can hear everything, mould in shower, heating usually faulty, noisy pipes, cleaning never done properly and very isolated from campus.
Good location right next to the train station however you have the noise of the trains on one side and the constant drone of the A27 on the other that makes it impossible to think unless you have earphones in. The hot water and heating frequently goes out and takes ages to fix, not something you want to find when you wake up and jump in the shower 15 minutes before a lecture! Beds are small, if you are over 5'10 your feet will stick off the end. Rooms are generally quite tatty, worn carpets, marked walls, screws loose in furniture. Overall would not recommend!
Honestly do not pick this accomodation. The porters and cleaners enter your room at any time they like (i was naked and hungover in bed and they just walked in and my flatmate had it happen whilst they were in the shower). They are also extremely rude. The accomodation is right next to a main road and its almost impossible to get to sleep. Its very hot in the halls, made worse by the fact you cant open the window without a f***** up amount of noise. The porters are useless about dealing with issues, youll report a problem and it takes them 2 weeks to even get back to you, if at all.
Over priced for what it is - rooms/kitchen stink not been cleaned properly ever. Mould in shower and bugs. Meant to have 24 hour porter but it is closed about 16 hours of the day. Crap laundry service as well with people leaving their s*** in the machine for hours on it. Full of internationals and anti social people. Fire alarm faulty. Single glazed windows so you can listen to the orchestra of the motorway at night for your convenience. Rooms are very dark. Internet patchy and sometimes just not working. Heating been turned off since March. Cleaner cleans bathroom and kitchen once a month which is okay
When I found out I was originally going to be at Stanmer Court I was upset but I honestly love Stanmer court now. The social aspect isn't great. We did have a GBBO socials where 40 people turned up with food to watch, and on halloween the RA's did some face painting and stuff like that. Location wise - it's got its pros and cons. Pros: It is super close to the station and has a bus stop right outside the accomodation so travelling off campus is super easy, also the distance from campus is honestly not a big deal it's maybe 10 minutes to get to the center of campus. The cons: stanmer is the opposite end of the campus for other fflats so it is quite isolated and antisocial. However, I feel the pros outweigh the cons. Ensuites are good and rooms are pretty big with big desks! There are rats but i've never seen them indoors (and all halls have them). The porters are the only 24 hour ones, so you feel safe and the laundry room being so close is hugely convenient! Would live here again tbh
Stanmer court is fab!! You meet so many people within your block and get to know them really well! The 5 min walk to campus is good exercise and there's a bus stop right outside for going in to town.
I'm at Stanmer now, I love the Uni but this accommodation was never a choice I just got put there. Very unsociable but uni's what you make it, if you make yourself active you'll find some cool people.
Nice location as far as being near sport centre and a few minutes walk from main uni is concerned but the noise from the train could be disturbing if you go to bed early and the rats are never nice
Stanmer court is full of international students, many who do not want to socialize so it can get really boring and lonely. There is either s***** or no service.
Not a lot of people but there were a few gems
I enjoyed living at Stanmer court until, it got invaded by rats, I was terrified to walk around or in the complex, it was very disgusting. Couldn't wait to leave by the end. Also there were too many issues with the water and electric and all kinds of people needed access to our rooms for whatever reason, couldn't ever feel comfortable in my own space.
I loved the people I lived with
Just don't even consider it, so unsociable
