A great location, with good facilities and helpful, friendly staff. There’s a real variety of people and ages in the building, especially more mature students which suits me! Only thing you may need to adjust to is railway noise! I’ve been here for a month now and I sleep like a baby, with the windows open, despite the occasional train noise. Would happily rebook for my continued studies.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Well, as it’s my second stay here.. it’s is a really good location.. the staff and the maintenance are well aware of any problems that need to be taken care off, the security here are always keeping us safe 24/7.. The only thing that is an issue is price of room as I really don’t think it’s worth paying 270 for the room I’m staying in due to its spacing and layout.. I do know that in 2022 December.. the rooms like mine were in the 220 mark and 270 would be like a small studio or at least a wider space.. In full conclusion, it worth for the place if u wanna be close to ur university and the daily amenities around but really not worth the price on the property itself anymore.
A great location, with good facilities and helpful, friendly staff. There’s a real variety of people and ages in the building, especially more mature students which suits me! Very bad quality accommodation and many services such as cleaning of communal kitchens is not provided despite the £280 a week price tag. However, to make things worse, this is only revealed to you after you have signed the contract. The location is not good and there are far better options for cheaper. I have also had many problems with the residents here as they frequently take drugs and one even tried to enter my room. Despite my complaints the accommodation did not let me move out. Save your money and go somewhere else. I Would check out Holden court accommodation as it is cheaper and provides the studio room option for even £200 a week which is much better than here where £280 a week will have you sharing a dirty communal kitchen with another 7 people. I am a current tenant and this is how it is here today.
Overall a good accommodation, cleaning services would be a good addition given the cost.
Very expensive for what is provided, good location with stores nearby and good transport links down the road. Noise complaints often go unresolved, and some security guards are rude to tennants
The onsite Staff have been brilliant!
Overall very pleased with the accommodation.
I love the location, cleaning could be better. Kitchen too small for 8 people.
Everything is great just a bit expensive and I wish there was a gym in hosue.
Not a bad choice for fair accommodation
I’ve only been living here in this accommodation for 2 months or just over, it’s a bit expensive but it’s doable. It is at a convenient location. I can’t complain too much because I’m barely in. I love my flatmates, it’s a student accommodation so it’s expected to be loud on Friday nights and weekend even though it is bloody annoying and I’d wish they’d shut up because some of us have work in the mornings. The security is lovely, the people who run the building are lovely but I would expect more from what we’re paying
Very nice accommodation great location in brighton. Dedicated parking spaces for students would be great but understand there isn’t much room for it. For the price it would be nice to have regular cleaners in to clean kitchens for example
I am a second year brighton student living in hollingbury house. it is situated in an amazing part of brighton very safe, however not much parking for visitors. it is only a short walk from the main road through brighton which has the main bus routes on to all universities and into town. sainsburys is a 5 minute walk and aldi 10. rooms are spacious however mine was visibly not cleaned before I moved in and there was also mouldy food in the fridge. there is also only 3 washing machines and dryers for a good 150 students. staff are very attentive and so helpful if you have a need any time of the day. overall it is very expensive for what you get but it’s a safe and friendly environment to live in so thank you:)
I am a second year student studying in Brighton, and I wanted to stay in halls and I found hollingbury house, it has a welcoming and friendly environment which makes it easy for me to be myself and talk to other students who are not in my flat. There are also a lot of events planned for all students which is a nice way to socialise. I would highly recommend this accommodation to any student studying in Brighton as there are transport links close as well as supermarkets within walking distance. Overall Hollingbury House is a great place to live!
I have had an amazing experience will Hollingbury. The staff are friendly and respond well to requests; the security staff are reliable and polite; maintainence turn up quickly and are competent.
Amazing customer service. They helped me as an international student even though it was something that they may not have much experience with. Special thanks to Chris.
In the time of been at Hollingbury House so far i’ve already made some new friends and been able to live safely and happily without worrying about going home ever. The staff are all friendly and the place is well looked after. Look forward to rest of the year to come.
I really like living here, it is very close to the univesities, everyone in staff is extremely helpful and nice.
A great place to live, everything you need is close by and the staff are all lovely!
such a nice place to live, perfect location for brighton university and really friendly staff!!
Amazing experience I love it also amazing staff
Hollingbury House, Brighton is a great accommodation and provides really good student experience. Everyone's really friendly and that creates a nice atmosphere to be in.
Best student living, they provide so much care to the students that I just like. Will hopefully rebook soon because of how nice the staff team is.
Accommodation is very well kept. Location is perfect, close to uni and shops while not too far from the centre. Absolutely amazing staff, they are super helpful and always welcoming with a smile.
Personally , I often find it hard to adapt to new places very easily , but I have felt like I was home the moment I stepped into Hollingbury house. It is everything I expected and much more , the staff are more than friendly and will support and help you with anything you need in the blink of an eye.
Hollingbury house really tend to put your needs as top priority. Going out of their way and making exceptions to make you experience efficient and wonderful. Starting my third year both at uni and at Hollingbury house and there's no place I'd rather live.
Searching for accommodation is stressful but Alice was super helpful with all my queries!
I am a first year student at the University of Brighton. I was a bit anxious about looking for my second year accommodation. Hollingbury House were the best regarding price, location and many other. Alice is one of the staff working there and she helped me regarding how to apply and what to expect and what are the services they provide. Can't wait to move in this Setember! 😊
The staff is always nice and helpful, the space is perfect and you can easily walk to the beach, stores or nightclubs if you fancy!
I’m an international student and I was nervous about moving to a new place without family nearby, The Hollingbury staff were so welcoming and caring from the moment I got here. The staff were so helpful when I had problems/issues that needed to be resolved. The location is convenient, the bus stop is close, thereby making it much easier to navigate everywhere. It is a safe and clean place to spend one’s university experience. The study spaces are perfect spots to stay late to grind and also, the wifi works fast! The lounge is also a good place to socialize with my friends! I definitely recommend this place to all students.
Reception is amazing - staff are very helpful. Location is handy - close to university and shops just down the road. Incentives could be better. Overall, I love it here!
Perfect location between the city center (direct on bus) and Moulsecoomb Campus (15min walk), at 5 min of walk from Sainsbury’s and the bus stop. The staff is lovely, they are making the accomodation feels like home, especially when you are an international student or live far from your family. They are always up to help in any case, no matter what! The communal area is perfect to socialise and meet people, the kitchen is good (with a dishwasher, oven etc.). For the on-suit bed room the big desk is really convenient as students and the big shower is ideal. I recommend this place a 100% (Side note, depending on the side you are you may here the train passing by)
The Hollingbury House Team are really helpful and will look out for you as a person not just a customer. Comfortable place to be with everything you might need in one place.
Staying at the Hollingbury house for a second year shows what a great place it is to live for students, Having also booked for a third year, it back up my case. Its main selling point is the location of the house. The staff is out of this world, kind, helpful, generous and fun.
Hollingbury house is a lovely place to live. It’s like a home for me. The staff are amazing ! And any issues you have they can sort it out really quickly ☺️
Lovely and friendly staff! Good location and really nice accommodation, definitely recommend!
Hollingbury House is a lovely home away from home, located in a great area with good links to the city centre. The staff are absolutely amazing and very friendly, and always offer help when needed. I haven't had any stolen parcel's here which is a big plus!
Fun approachable staff and clean compact room
The staff here are incredible! Very helpful, 10/10! Dan is amazing and Alice is great and very friendly! The only con would be the sink as it is very small however I don’t think that can be changed :/ It is quite a pricey accommodation but the location is perfect as it is right between Uni and the city centre.
Amazing and fast service. Made the booking process so easy!
Great staff extremely friendly and helpful! Would highly recommend living here to any student moving to Brighton.
Really lovely accommodation, has everything I need and the staff are amazing! The ensuite rooms are fab, only issue is the shared kitchens are quite small
The room is comfortable and great. The staff are very kind. I really enjoy it!
Dan and the team have been absolutely amazing when it came to aiding me with rebooking my stay at hollingbury for the upcoming academic year. Don't usually write posts but they were very sincere in making sure that I was all set and comfortable through the process of booking up until my move in day and beyond. I think what they offer is a great deal in terms of living quarters as well as on site maintenance. Thank you to Dan and the rest of the team.
The staff is really nice and accommodating! Met great people here and the rooms are really nice as well as pretty :) it's located in a great area with the city centre being really close, bus stops and train stations nearby as well as aldi, sainsburys and coop close as well and its just a nice area overall. Very close to all universities and colleges in Brighton and I have had a great experience living here!
Very friendly and helpful staff, always feel safe, trust my post not to be stolen. Everything I need is close by. Could maybe be a little cheaper but I would say it's worth it.
Very friendly and helpful staff. the rooms are nice with a prime location near Sainsburys and Aldi. Satisfied living here.
The reception is so nice and helpful and always willing to offer help. The location is quite good because you could easily go to sains for groceries. And the common area is usually quite. Overall, it's satisfying experience living in here.
Stunning accomodation! All Sussex accommodations are great, I’ve visited most myself, but this is even better
Great team on site to help with any problems or enquiries, very helpful and extremely kind! Room is cute and homely with your own en-suite, kitchen is big with all facilities needed. Located only 30 minute walk into town, perfect location!
Hollingbury house is a fantastic property, The rooms are small but are much nicer than most! The Ensuite bathrooms are good however do not come with any bathroom bits (toilet brush, bin) the kitchen is a lovely space with superb set of kitchen appliances, a fair amount of storage and a very nice table area (it’s a higher bar style so it’s very spacious good for large numbers in a flat). The staff are so unbelievably lovely and are super welcoming and helpful. The location of Hollingbury House is situated well with an Aldi, Sainsbury’s and Co-op within moments from the halls. The centre takes 30mins to get to and the seafront maybe 35 mins. From Sussex and Brighton University it’s a walkable distance but also the 25 bus service runs from the bottom of the road to the uni’s. The reasons for not rating the social spaces and events higher is due to Covid not because they aren’t there. I would highly recommend this property to any students looking for accommodation when coming to Brighton.
Friendly staff and good value for money
Being in my final year of uni I wish I had started living here earlier. The staff, service and everything has been nothing but the best and I highly recommend!
Great service all in all, super helpful if any problems arise (if there are any) and with the help of staff everything is sorted out quickly and professionally whilst keeping safe during the pandemic. Reception is also very helpful and friendly.
Lovely accommodation in a good location and Edit is always willing and ready to help
I really like the location of this accommodation, easy access to Sainsburys, Aldi, train station and bus stops. The reception staff is really friendly and there is always freebies to collect which is a definite bonus! Overall, I'd say it's a pretty nice place to live in.
The accommodation is very friendly and the location is really nice!
Hollingbury House is a lovely home away from home, located in a great area with good links to the city centre. The staff are absolutely amazing and very friendly, and always offer help when needed. The room is a decent size, although I would say the sink is quite small but overall good sized kitchen and communal areas.
Value - Insanely expensive Location - Great, close to popular universities and shops Property Management - Staff are extremely friendly and helpful and maintenance is always quick Cleaning - Flats don't have cleaners however the site is always a good standard of clean Social Spaces - One decent sized common room Social Experience - The company does put a good effort into making events however none of the interest me personally Internet - Good connection when it's working however it does frequently cut out but usually only for a few seconds
The stuff are friendly and kind, they are always there to help
The room is nice and comfortable. The staff is really friendly and efficient. I would definitely recommend this accommodation.
great student accommodation with helpful staff
I feel safe to stay here during the Christmas and the new year. First of all, there are not many people staying onsite so, I am not worried about the social contact problem at all. Meanwhile, I can feel that the staff here care about us a lot, like there are treats on the table, the posters keep updating in many areas, frequent maintenance repair, parcels sorting and the bike storage has been a lot cleaner than I just moved in.
Abodus Hollingbury house is a right place for the students and all staffs and manger in the reception especially Dan and Edit are friendly and kind to us and giving support to us with many safety measures during this pandemic. Since I have been staying in this accommodation and I don’t regret to stay in this accommodation because this is not only place for me to stay but also they provide us with some social activites and celebrations such as Christmas party and cooking program on Zoom. Therefore, it is like a place for students to have social life with each of flatmates in this COVID 19 period. As for the safety measures, Abodus give a huge support to us like social distancing in the building or if you go to common areas we need to wear masks and so on. They sanitize public place such as the lift and door handle. All in all, I am happy to stay in Abodus Hollingbury house and it completely different from the places I had stayed in the previous year."
The staff members are very kind and supportive, especially Edit and Dan, they keep updating me about the ongoing situation and the activities held in the accommodation. Highly recommended!!!
The location is great, super comfortable, and all the staff are super nice and helpful, especially Edit who was so lovely and took me through the whole process of viewings and rebooking :)
It's a very comfortable place to stay and study, people in the reception are very kind and have great patience to help you with anything. Traffic here also very convenient, and there are three supermarkets around.
Easy to book and very helpful staff
It's a preeety good *chefs kiss*
The reception staff and Maintenance Staff are amazing and very kind
The location is very good, the staff in the apartment is very friendly and helped solve many problems. I hope to have a pleasant staying experience.
The kitchen is way too small for 8 people, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful (they were very quick to act and professional when I ran into issues with another tennant). The location is fantastic for any student (brighton or sussex). There is an Aldi or Sainsburys near by as well multiple 24hr corner shops and multiple pubs. However, the price is very very steep for what it is (even for Brighton prices).
its a very nice place for socializing with fellow students. but too expensive
the place is one of the cheapest accommodation in the area so i believe you get what you pay for
Too expensive for what you get, the rooms aren't very big and you get limited storage space for clothes etc. Many people in my flat were very anti-social and could barely say hello to me. Staff aren't there on the weekend so you can't get post delivered on a Saturday as there is no one there. The kitchens are okay but instead of sofas they have these weird leather bench things which are really uncomfortable and instead of a table and chairs there is an island unit with bar stools. Also the building is next to a busy main road which is very loud, I can't open my bedroom window without hearing loud traffic noises. Only good things is that is close to Brighton uni (10 min walk) and close to Sainsburys and Aldi as well as close to bus routes into Brighton centre.
So far I had a wonderful experience, with great spacious room and a wonderful staff. The location is very good and can easily access shops and to universities. The amenities provided are good. Can increase social space and activities but so far so good. I wish cleaning service of some kind can be provided for the money. Other than this I am having a good time. There could little improvement on the kitchen area regarding the gire alarm and the smoke exhaust so that the alarm does not go off frequently without an actual fire.
Amazing location if you are studying at Brighton university’s Moulsecoomb campus or Mithras House. Close to town, shops and travel services.
