Excellent campus and great help with careers advice.
I was torn between 2 unis and I'm so glad I picked Nottingham, best choice I could have made!
Amazing campus, staff are really friendly and always willing to help
Such a lovely place to be with so much going on and green spaces make it have a great atmosphere when you want to relax outside of going out or working
The campus is absolutely stunning- so much green space, beautiful buildings both historical and new. The staff are always friendly and willing to help. Facilities are amazing, classes are great, accommodation is great. Can’t fault it at all
This univeresity is the biggest catfish I have ever seen.
Prefers to spend money on renovating campus than on facilities
Newark Hall is the worst managed hall. Loud music, shoutings and alcohol at night time everyday, no attention from management team. The worst hall ever.
Good, but need more improvement
the Student service is usually not very supporting but all in all great experience!
Having completed my Degree at Trent and MA at UoN its quite ironic that Trent being considered the 'inferior' University was so much better. In nearly every department Trent trumped Uni of except perhaps facilities which is exceptional at Uni of due to the sheer amount of space the campus holds. UoN's assessment and administration skills are absolutely shocking, with the length of time to mark and return assessment beyond a joke. Furthermore, the IT set up in terms of the online portal 'Moodle' is slow and cumbersome compared to Trent's 'NOW'. If you are a student at UoN and want help from Student Services simply do not bother and attempt to resolve it yourself. Comparatively speaking, the Student Services team at Trent is quick, reliable and to the point where at UoN they are indecisive and lack urgency. I can not express to you how poor the organisational skills at UoN is, considering it is supposed to be in the top 100 globally.
Employees are very helpful, campuses have beautiful scenery.
Lovely lovely university, would do it all over again if i could.
Beautiful campus and great facilities. Very good teaching in the geography department.
Best. Uni. Ever. Never wanted it to end. Thank you notts for EVERYTHING
Really good uni Just needs more shops like spar on campus & a club on campus
Beautiful campus and great facilities
I’ve enjoyed my time studying there massively. Although things could improve, such as the halls system and mental health among students, I would recommend the uni to anyone.
Website and access to informations for students needs to be updated. Better welfare needs to be done
Beautiful campus, lots of fully renovated study space, excellent student support and limitless number of extracurricular activities.
The campus is beautiful - Absolutely love it here.
Unbelievable campuses, very good students union and career services are second to none. Nottingham is an great city (though there are parts you should avoid) and Uni of’s situation around 15 minutes bus from the centre of town makes its serenity ideal, with bus links directly into the centre of town easily accessible. The schools for economics and politics (as this is what I know) make every effort to nurture free thought and help advance study, rather than simply indoctrinating students as can be the case at some universities, whilst there are plenty of societies in both academic fields and beyond (eg amazing sports societies) for those looking for something more extra-curricular than drinking. On the topic of nightlife though, Nottingham as a city has a lot more to offer than one might think. For a city that is often eclipsed by the likes of Bristol or Leeds, I’d preach that you don’t have to end up at Ocean (the home of cheese) or Crisis (Uni of Social night) to enjoy yourself..
Fantastic uni with amazing facilities for my course
I have had nothing but a brilliant experience at the university of Nottingham. I have always had someone to go to with any issues that I have had, and I feel my degree is worth having
Amazing campus and atmosphere with really nice people
The beautiful and well-facilitated campus makes it a great environment to not only flourish academically, but socially as well.
Had a duel honours course which had lectures programmed back to back on different campuses. Ridiculous
I love Nottingham uni. Lovely city, with nice scenery, good transport and nice centre. And my course is also well set out.
It's a very good uni. No complaints.
Ahhh! I love this uni! Brilliant facilities (starbucks and all) plus the library cat! Friendly staff and brilliant students. So safe too! Second year student accomodation returner.
A friendly environment to get a degree and friends for life
Excellent uni for anyone who wants a campus experience but still still wants to be close to a busy city!
If you’re looking for a uni with the full package: education, sport/hobbies and social then this is the one of you. The campus is very green and and the facilities are maintained to a high standard. Only gripe is the distance between campus’ and to get to certain sports clubs (eg. Athletics & rowing) but if you happy to ride a bike - no problem!
The community of University of Nottingham is incredible! There is a society for everyone and there are many opportunity for everyone!
The University of Nottingham has by far the best campus in the UK and is the perfect place for a first year student to settle down as everything is easy to get to and the city’s centre is only a short bus ride away. There is nothing bad to say about the campus, especially in the summer with the boating lake, mini golf and numerous campus bars that make it such an enjoyable place to be.
best university campus and courses available
great experience, great campus and people
Great surroundings and teaching facilities, but very few EU students in the Uni.
I am a big fan of Nottingham, great city, great course, great campus
UoN is great . The campus is one of the best in the country.
The University of Nottingham has a beautiful campus, excellent staff and a vibrant student community. Teaching at the university is of the highest quality, with staff being both knowledgeable and engaging. I cannot recommend the University of Nottingham highly enough. I have had a wonderful three years in Nottingham and only wish I could do three more....
Amazing unity, support and university experience
University of Nottingham is brilliant all round except for maybe the students union. The student union bar serves good reasonably priced food but the drinks are limited to cheap brands and are priced almost the same as many pubs and bars in the area so there’s no saving. It also lacks a student union club when Nottingham Trent has a very good student union club. The Campus is beautiful and very green in most parts (and that’s coming from someone who lives in the beautiful countryside of Devon). It’s also home to all sorts of wildlife. The clubs and societies are endless and mostly very well run. There are a huge variety of things to get involved in. The campus wifi has great coverage but can be a little slow at times.
Very good university. They offer a lot to students.
It is okay, but not as great as I expected.
It's a big university with a lot going on. But at this scale is also easy to let it all pass you by.
Great sports facilities, especially Varsity series
I think University of Nottingham is a beautiful place to study, especially in the Humanities Department. My tutor is lovely aswell as my welfare officer! The grounds are stunning on hot days and it’s the best choice I made city wise
Had an amazing first year notts is such a good night out and the campus is beautiful! My course has been interesting and challenging - definitely made the right decision to choose nottingham
So pleased I came here! This uni is something really special. Not perfect by any means (I think it probably varies course-wise — mine are pretty naff with communicating certain things) but the community here is like no other. Notts I love you!
First year, lots of help, lots of new technologies I've never used before
Campus is beautiful and all the services (finance, health, career etc) are so helpful and easily accessible.
The most beautiful campus and staff are very helpful. Brilliant courses.
Amazing experience with amazing staff
Amazing, I’ve been to Exeter for a term and Nottingham Uni is better in every way. Great facilities with a campus with the potential to continue to improve in the future
UoN is a great learning environment. The opportunities are endless in terms of academics and extracurricular. People are super nice and the city is easy to navigate
Pretty good univeristy. Certainly shouldnt have dropped that far down the rankings
The best environment for student to study
It is a great time and there is tons of stuff to do. So much better that loughborough by actually having a city but also green space
Nottingham is a great university that has a beautiful campus, amazing sports facilities, an intense mathematics course ect.
I have had the best time of my life at this university. There is so much to get involved in, something for everyone. The campus is beautiful, there are many contact hours and loads of opportunities to learn about research and postgrad education. Would be better if the student bar was cheaper. The placement team for pharmacy are extremely unhelpful. Need more funding to get to and from placements. Need better notes given out because the handouts rip very easily in the current form.
As soon as you walk onto Uni of Notts campus you’ll be struck by the vast amount of greenery and gardens that are around you. Then over the course of the year it will start to f*** you off because it turns out maintenance is all the uni will happily spend their b*****d money on. This uni decided to spend £1 million on a new set of steps and a water feature but refuses to pay lecturers the wage they deserve. Also, if you are going to this uni make sure it is for an academic subject such as Law or Chemistry, they offer courses in subjects such as Film and Television studies that cost £15k/ year and turn out to be watching 1 film a week then attending a seminar to talk about it. I dropped out after the first year. Would not recommend this uni for someone who wants to have a good night life experience either. Nottingham is an amazing city with tonnes that will appeal to a wide range of people, except the goobers that attend this uni. The night life at uni of is S***. All in all, toss uni.
Staff are great teaching is superb cant really complain about the university
Good experience this year. Staff on the whole have been lovely. Sporting and library facilities brilliant. Societies have been difficult as I’m a nursing student and being on placements means it’s hard to make weekly commitments.
The uni is very pretty and the campus has a lot of great facilities and is close to town. The WiFi isn’t great but the rest of the uni is good.
Eduroam is terrible, couldn't connect for weeks then suddenly worked again. The student union is alright but the pints are way too expensive. The campus facilities are pretty dated and there aren't many resources to go around.
Beautiful campus with lots of student support
Best decision I made was to go to UoN!
Such a great University! Everyone is so nice and welcoming; lecturers as well as course collegues! A lot of career opportunities including interviews, career talks, internships and many more! Every course is unique and very specialised! I’m currebtly doing a degree in Finance, Accouting and Management and it’s amazing! They do not only teach you what you need for your future job, but also helo to get a better understanding of a business world in overall (on my course). Definitely highly reccommended!
Excellent place, having an amazing time, some issues with timetabling but otherwise perfect. Lecturers and wonderful, modules too, lots of clubs to join and be part of. WiFi mainly good!
Excellent experience and great course
Really enjoyed my time here at the University of Nottingham. Very helpful staff good level of teaching. Really nice campus as well!
I had the opportunity to get involved with rowing very competitively for my first 2 years, then had many other sports to choose from when I left. Incredible facilities, an amazing campus that is continuously being developed. The SU was visibly making a difference all the time
Wonderful experience here at The University of Nottingham
I’m sooo in love with my uni: I could not possibly imagine better student experience. My department (Maths) provides outstanding support to students, in particular on their first year, to ensure smooth transaction from school to university. It offers a lot of opportunities for self-development, such as summer research projects, review projects and peer assisted study support scheme. The SU provides a lot of support in terms of self-development (career service, internship schemes, training, volunteering, etc.) and is very diverse: there are 200+ different societies and 70+ sports. The facilities are absolutely outstanding, and the campus is the most beautiful university campus I have seen in my life. I would definitely recommend visiting the University of Nottingham, because once you see and feel it for yourself, you cannot forget such an amazing experience!
Have really enjoyed first year, my accommodation is great but the food could be better
Great uni especially architecture
Teachers are amazing and always willing to help even though they are busy. Lectures are well structured with lots of links for resources. Overall atmosphere for learning is great.
Nottingham has a beautiful campus with excellent and ever-improving facilities. Teaching is phenomenal.
Slightly older than other halls but amazing atmosphere and staff are amazing. Social aspect is amazing. I've made so many friends from halls.
Very good University, never had any problems. All the staff work to provide the best service possible.
Amazing university, beautiful campus, good facilities, good halls, amazing memories
The recent Florence Boot issue and the way the university has encouraged silence around it fills me with rage and has royally spoiled the end of my second year.
My first year here has been a pleasure and I can’t wait for the years that follow.
Great education as most the lecturers I've been to have been informing as well as entertaining and most lectures are recorded. The campus itself is huge and very pretty and there's lots of hidden places to explore. The city itself is very convient cheap travel and nights out are known here for being one of the best. There are many societies to choose from but you must choose wisely as some area more active than others. The social atmosphere is great as you'll always find people that will like you or who you are as most people here are very friendly. I haven't really had any problems with the Wi-Fi here as the campus has free WiFi all over so it's great to save data. The libraries in this uni are ideal as during exam time they go into 24/7 and there specific zones so if you want to study in silent that can happen. Theres a monitor of how full each floor is so you don't waste your time trying to find seats as there's other places to study. Food here is great; such a range.
University of Nottingham is a fantastic centre for further education. There are so many opportunities for students to further their studies as one of the worlds best research universities. While also getting involved in hundreds of different societies, not to mention their fantastic record at sport.
Couldn't ask for more in teachint quality, sports and so many societies
Doing a Masters at this uni. Obviously, I don't expect to be spoon fed at level 7. But the majority of the lecturers are unhelpful, taking ages to reply to emails or to simply not reply at all! Some of them overcomplicate everything to the point where you have to go to a different lecturer who explains the concept in a sentence, rather than going around the houses. Plus, the workload expected from each lecturer is different, even on the same module. Sometimes, you have to do an overbearing amount of prep and other times none at all. Along with all this, the admin side of things is terrible! They lost one of my feedback coursework, they missed me off enrolment for my THESIS MODULE (I nearly missed the information about the proposal deadline and access to the form), and the change of module process is ridiculous, leading me to miss lectures.
Eduroam is terrible, everything else is incredible
I hate the University of Nottingham, I’ve been here for three years and all I want is to leave. I chose to study philosophy, but I want to be a games developer. I wasted three years of my life at the University of Nottingham. Don’t study here, no one cares about you
The campus is very pretty and makes you feel very safe. There are lights everywhere and it is the kind of place where you don't feel uneasy about walking to the campus shop in the dark on your own. The internet is campus wide and is pretty good, sometimes it disconnects from your phone though and causes you to use up some data before realising.
Nottingham is a beautiful campus and attracts great students. Great city with good transport links too. Wifi is patchy and annoying but that might just be eduroam in general.
This review is solely based on the Sutton Bonington campus. But this campus definitely deserves one star for everything here.
Worst university ever. Always spam you with lots of survey and feedback forms but those forms are merely just a useless piece of paper. Administrative staffs are not helpful and lazy, sometimes not friendly. They always ask you to send them emails but never really help resolve the issues. Admission process is troublesome. Been to three campuses, Malaysia campus is the worst. Location is unaccessible by public transports. Staffs are deceptive. Accommodation is even worse.
I am amazed at how organised the university is and how well it is planned out especially university park and jubilee. If your course is on sutton bonnington campus or Derby campus- you will be isolated or have to get up early to commute so i dont recomend that!
This is getting long now but Uni of Notts is clearly sick
With far too many societies to join even half of the ones that seem interesting and a great SU to back them, I would definitely recommend Nottingham to anyone looking for a University.
Nottingham is so lovely! The campus is absolutely gorgeous, so much green space and the lake is perfect to have a walk around after a stressful week. It's only a short tram/bus ride from the city so it's easy just to pop in for a few bits, but far enough away so it doesn't seem too overwhelming. There's so many great facilities on campus, have a look on the website, there's literally everything you could need and more!
It's a shame all events are so heavily ticketed at the university. Great facilities and the green of the campus makes everyday good.
Amazing campus with all the facilities you could want. Weird Wifi though; won't allow certain programs to connect (e.g. Steam) but works fine the majority of the time. No contact with careers yet so no help there
