All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Very convenient location because it is right next to a tube station and a supermarket, good facilities in a studio and friendly management team.
The management is very poor. They are unorganized and have not improved. They never even apologize for this poor management. They should first learn how to manage before being appointed to such positions
Nice receptionist. But the properties are a bit old.
everything is good except security issues
Good location, help stuff, convenient transport, camden market is great, rooms are well designed. Will recommend.
Good, will recommend. Good location. Sainsbury. Underground. Camden market.
Great location, good value for money
A good place to live. Studios are big enough. Friendly and helpful reception teams. very convenient transport network, just 3 minutes walk from tube station.
I really like this accommodation and this is my first place to stay in London. The reception and other staffs are really nice and always help us to solve problems. The location is really nice, very close to underground station and bus stops. The Wi-Fi is overall good, but sometimes were disconnected. Overall, I really like it and will surely recommend it to my friends in the future.
Transport is good and near university college London
Rated 4/5. Cons:I ordered a silver studio but the size of the room made me think it was a bronze studio. Bathroom way too small and feels like I can't turn my body, also radiator was quite old. Pros: good location, nice reception, clean public areas.
the best part about this accommodation is its location and the staff/customer service
Convenient location close to tube station, bus stops and supermarkets; friendly and helpful reception team; rooms are well-equipped with fridges and TVs etc.; great experiences living here and highly recommended for students.
Great location, super close to shops/supermarket and the tube. Really friendly management team that help you out with any problem you have. Super spacious and comfortable rooms. Highly recommend it! :)
It's a lovely place with the most amazing, friendly & approachable management team! The location is extremely convenient.
I have really enjoyed living at Hawley! The location is amazing, rooms are great, and the staff are all super nice (especially Pushkar)
Great experience living here. Nice rooms and staff, and the location is really practical.
Amazing place to love, very conveniently located in the heart of camden with everything you need nearby and connectivity is great via bus and underground.
Camden is really vibrant place, 25 mins walk from UCL ( a nice walk), all great supermarkets and stores just around here, I also love the common room as well. The service is the superb as well, provides chocolates and desserts time to time🥳
This accommodation is very amazing. The environment, the facilities, and the people in reception are all wonderful. They all give me a good and impressive memory in Britain.
Happy living here for the last 5 years plus.
Many disingenuous reviews for this accommodation. Interesing location, though besides a very convenient Sainsbury's, there are few living amenities as Camden Town/Market is obviously geared for tourists. This does mean that pubs are relatively plentiful, though. Common room/roof terrace are pleasant and the view is impressive. However, being the only social space in the entire building, it struggles to support people who want to use it as a study space, those who want a "living room" experience, and those who want to party in it. In theory it can support all three however... Studios give little incentive for any kind of a community feeling and during the COVID year I imagine that this has had yet more of an impact. For postgraduates students this is more standard, which an accommodation like this more generally appeals to (and so is full of postgrads) however, some undergrads (foundation years especially, but also bachelors) may struggle. Suits for 1 year... No security at all.
The people here are great! Always friendly and approachable! Great location! Highly recommend
Thank you very much for your kind words, we are pleased to have you here with us. We always want to be there in any way we can and thanks again for the recommendation.
Everything is well, just the internet connection is not very well.
Thank you very much for your five star review and thank you for pointing the it out. Internet is provided by glide and we have 100mbps throughout the building, rooms in the corner may sometime have weaker signal but there are signal boosters in place as well. In case of any problem, the Glide support is always on hand through App or other forms but we will look into ways to improve it even more.
The staffs working here are extremely friendly and patient. And they do help me a lot since I moved in last year. They usually respond very quick to my questions, which is admirable. The location and facilities are quite nice as well. Very close to Regent park and Camden market—so it’s convenient to find a place to hang out on weekends. In general, it is a great choice for living in the central London.
Thank you very much for your kind words, we are very pleased to have you here with us. I believe we have a small community, a home away from home, all because of you lovely people.
I absolutely love home for students. The staff is beyond friendly, the apartments are spacious and the location is better than perfect. It was the best decision to have come to this family so my adventures in London could begin.
Thank you for this wonderful review :) We are really glad to have you here with us and wish you all the very best with all your adventures.
Really nice staff, if you have any issues they always fix them same day, always really reasonable with tennants and have provided a great environment for us to be living during these tough times.
Thank you very much for this wonderful review, we are pleased to have you here and equally glad to have been of some service during these tough times. We want you all to feel this is a home away from home, there have been some challenges but we look forward to the good times now.
Pushy (Pushkar) is amazing!!! He is supportive, friendly and just overall the best guy I have ever met. He makes the experience better! It is a great experience and best place to start of your uni journey, I am so glad and pleased I chose Hawley Crescent

Camden Hawley Crescent is such a wonderufl play to live at. It's only a 20 minute tube journey to the university I study at and everyone on site is friendly and helpful whenever I need them.
Very warm and welcoming management team. Helpful staff. Great location of the property.
Very good experience and warm welcome to the city, exceptional location and helpful staff
Incredible location, right in the midle of Camden Town, could not be more convenient for travel and night life. Huge Sainsbury's 1 minute walk away. Team is helpful and repsond quickly and maintenance issues get sorted quite fast, though lift issues seem to be reccuring quite a bit. Otherwisae very happy and will be staying my thrid year.
