Don’t. Just don’t. Moved in on a Sunday and came home on Tuesday. Toilet doesn’t flush, at all. Desk chair was mouldy, taps only work if you press down on them so difficult to wash your hands or clean your face. Shower goes freezing cold or boiling hot, no in between. Woke up with frost bite at some point There is a kitchen per floor, it’s the size of a cupboard and when I looked in, there was just a microwave. The only good thing about it is that it’s on campus, if I could rate the actual accommodation lower, I would. I literally was blackmailed by the accommodation team into staying here.

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

(This review also probably applies to Fisher House as it is virtually the same place) I cannot stress enough how garbage these Halls are. I appreciate that these buildings are old and that there needs to be a well priced option for students who want a fully catered package to help settle into first year, I am grateful at least for this and acknowledge that many people do not have a choice. With this being said, - Halls smell all the time. - Walls are paper thin and everything can be heard through the entire building. - Everything is evidently very cheap. Not like Uni digs aren’t supposed to be basic, but these are really basic. Get some decoration going. - Internet is unreliable at best and abysmal at worst. - Food is hit or miss, sometimes actually pretty great, but evidently quite cheap - If your flat mates suck then you will just have to get used to it, not everyone is here for the degree sadly. Literally save some cash and go to Tramways or Tudor Place, genuinely.
Pros: 8 plug sockets in a small room, included gym membership, the cleaners are nice Cons: The drains smell of eggs, the shower goes boiling and freezing every minute, the doors stop no sound at all, the walls are paper thin, the building is 70 years old and it shows, the rooms are tiny, no storage space for anything more than the essentials, right next to sports field (very loud), no lift makes moving in hard, only microwave, toaster and kettle (ready meals forever), food is terrible and repeated often in a week, really unhealthy so you'll need that gym membership, doors slam very loudly (great at 3am if your neighbours don't care about your sleep), beds full of massive springs, desk chairs are in dire need of replacement, good luck if you live near common room or kitchenette - you wont be sleeping, if you're on any other campus get ready to walk 30 mins everyday, vending machine is never stocked, water tastes dodgy, overly expensive laundrette w/ 8 machines shared between thousands.
Utter s***hole - can't recommend any less
I unfortunately had the joy of having my room placed over the common room of Astbury house and opposite the floors kitchen. Astbury loves having parties with music so loud, objects in my room vibrated. Reviewing the accommodation itself, its value for money is quite poor. Having a small room and only being £10 cheater than Sumner, where their room are nearly 3 times the size. I also think theres mold growing on the top of my door. I also had the pleasure of when moving in, finding something growing on my rooms balcony (which I couldn't get to since the window doesn't open that far due to safety reasons). It turned out to be onions which someone threw there (why I have no idea). The internet is very good quality, only having issues with it a couple of times when staying here. Its location however is not perfect. Due to being next to Fisher house and the student union bar, I could hear many parties that made me lose sleep.
Really good rooms and social expirience
Hall Warden was utterly Awful!
I love Astbury, met so many amazing people and it's in such a perfect location with the su just around the corner!
Cleaners are lovely. Very social environment and you'll find that the common room will be a great place to go when you're bored as more often than not there is someone in there. I've had no issue with the quality of Internet but must say it is a long winded process especially if you're using a console or setting up a smart box. The cleaners do a great job of cleaning and are warm and hospitable. It's right on campus and a 1 min walk from the dining hall. I do feel that it's very over priced as I could move into a very nice city centre apartment on my own for the price we pay here. Would say it's a rip off. Apart from the price there's not much I can fault! If you're catered as everyone in Astbury usually is you'll probably get bored of chips by week 2 but the food isn't as bad as some people make out and there's always lots of options. The desserts are especially amazing.
Right on campus in the middle of everything!
Great fun if your sociable and outgoing. Not the best place if you want quiet accommodation or like privacy as theres also someone around! Quite alot of residents aswell so its a very busy house!
