Prior to moving in, I attended a viewing where I was informed that my flat was undergoing renovations and would match the standard shown during the viewing by the time I moved in. Unfortunately, this has not been the case. The flat I have been given does not resemble what was advertised to me, and I am very disappointed with the discrepancies between the condition I was promised and what I have received. The current state of the accommodation falls short of the expectations set during the viewing. They have gave me the wrong room too. The worst thing the management did absolutely nothing about it.
Living at The Forge has been a fantastic experience for me as a student at Sheffield Hallam University. The modern amenities and vibrant community really make it feel like home. My room is spacious, well-furnished, and having an en-suite bathroom is a huge plus. I love the variety of common areas available—whether I want to study in a quiet lounge or hang out with friends in the social spaces, there’s always a spot that fits my mood. The gym is a great bonus too; it makes it easy to stay active. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the university campus, which means I can easily get to my classes and access all the university facilities. Overall, I feel supported here, and the sense of community among residents has made my time at The Forge truly enjoyable while studying at Sheffield Hallam.

Couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay! The staff are always so polite, welcoming and accommodating, despite how busy it can get. They go out their way to ensure that any issues that arise are solved both quickly and efficiently. The location is great, and the buildings are secure so you always feel safe! They offer lots of things to do such as a cinema room, gym and study rooms if you feel like you don’t want to go onto your campus but still want to study. As well as this, they frequently provide community events such as football, and host various stands from charities. Staff, maintenance and cleaners are always on hand to help all throughout the day and I couldn’t ask for a better accommodation, would definitely stay here again for my future studies 💕.

I was excited to book here for this year as the location is optimal for shopping (The Moor and Aldi), entertainment (Cinema) and commuting to campus. While that is still the case, the Forge does have it's downsides; my flatmates and I have reported so many maintenance issues in the kitchen and the ensuites but since there is only 2 maintainance people on site none of these have been attended to. Further, the site operates on a key card system and people are bound to lock themselves out, but the reception are never eager or remotely happy to hear that they need to let them back in; in fact the reception in general never seem to be happy. Lastly, the state of the rooms and the kitchen when we moved in was actually disgusting, there was so much rubbish everywhere and gross marks all over the walls.

Our maintenance team have worked hard to get to every problem that has been reported but please do get in touch with the reception team if you are still waiting on any repairs. The reception team have no problem with letting people in when they are locked out, as you mentioned, it should be expected but we will make sure to improve this. There may have been some issue with the turnover between the previous tenants of your flat or someone may have stayed over from last year, however if there are any particular issues that need seeing to please let us know and we can see that our housekeepers come to take a look.

Gym should be cleaned weekly, gate on the outsides shouldn’t be locked and unusable in the evenings and overnight if you still need to have a fob to get in anyways

My overall experience in forge is pretty good... especially Sam and Owen these guys are doing excellent. The reception is open 24/7 which is the main attraction. Overall I love to stay in forge and hence rebooked here itself.

It's a decent experience for first year student, however I did experience a number of issues on the day I moved in. As well as a period of time where there was a lack of communication. Some of these issues did resolve themselves as time went on but it did really put a damper on the whole experience.

I’ve had a very good time whilst moving in the forge, excellent reception staff make the anxiety of moving out a lot less overwhelming! the only issue i would say is that i’ve seen a few night people partying in the reception after the reception team have gone home which can be a bit uncomfortable

The forge overall is really good and I would definitely recommend staying here as a student. The studios are worth the money and great in size. The forge offers many different activity/cinema nights and does special events things throughout the month. There’s always a few freebies to get. The maintainance team is lovely and extrmely helpful fast to sort out any repairs that need doing or looking at. All the staff are lovely and extrmely helpful.

They moved us into a rat infested building A boiler had a severe problem to the point water was pouring out of the Walls from inside to out with a member of their staff refusing to turn the water off in the property because he did not want to get wet The constant lies And mistakes ( which appear all the time) They did not have everyone's rooms prepped correctly missing items They have left people without hot water for amonth They have left gates and doors broken and unable to secure so rats could enter our building They took away our bins shared and left us nowhere to leave our rubbish apart from in two trolleys and on the floor The washing machines are absolutely disgusting and dirty and they refuse to do anything about it. The hallways were not cleaned regularly Your keys don't always work on your gate and sometimes it locks you out Member of staff stalked me and try to intimidate me and backed me up in a lift There so much more do not go

The forge is a good accommodation choice for either university, as it’s located not far from either. The location, being right opposite an Aldi and a 24 hour shop, is really helpful and convenient.

I've really enjoyed staying here the first year, it's genuinely been really good. But could have been a little cheaper, since it just makes more sense to go for a house share for the cost.
