140 New Walk is situated less than a mile from both De Montfort University and the University of Leicester. The city centre is also right on your doorstep and is surrounded by parks and recreational grounds, there will always be something to do.
This student-friendly accommodation offers all-inclusive bills, laundry facilities, and secure bike storage. What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

The receptionist Tammie Fell has been really supportive in helping me move into my room. She reserved the room for me as soon as I emailed about it and offered me a £20 laundry card as a thanks for choosing them . I feel very comfortable and settled in.

WiFi can be unreliable a lot, met some great ppl here, the gym could use more equipment and there is a wall blocking me from watching tv from my bed

Although I had a couple issues initially when moving in, this was resolved quickly by the staff and maintenance. I really enjoy living here, it’s definitely an upgrade to where I was previously living. The facilities in my room and around the building are in excellent condition, I’ll be sad when I have to move out 😭

Management is not good whatsoever, except for Sonya, she’s an absolute angel. Other than that, the management is below average. Would not recommend.

It's a nice quiet place which comes with its pros and cons, met some very nice people here too which is always a plus. Some of the staff are very good to talk to e.g. Sonya but it's not very often you see them which is a shame. I think it's slightly too pricey but can't be complaining a whole lot because the rooms are fairly nice and the cinema room is a good place to hang around.

It's not worth the money. Paper thin walls!!! You probably think that isn't bad, but when it gets to the fifth night in a row at 3 am and you can hear anyone and everyone's bussiness, it reallllyyyy gets to you. Complained over 5 times and still the same result, NOTHING WAS DONE!! Towards the end, i avoided staying and just commuted (1hour 45 mins). Stay if you want, i wouldn't recommend though!
