Iain was a great cleaner, room was spotless on arrival which was great. Lauren helped me get out of the housing situation I was in and made sure I was comfortable and helped me prepare my online and how easy it was to get a room at IQ. Matt costumer service was brilliant and so welcoming when I arrived here.

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
A perfect place to live after living in student halls and a house this is the perfect mix of benefits between. Ideal location and living areas, with the friendliest and helpful staff.
The staff used to be good, but the good people left and now the remaining staff is basically bullies. They’re helpful only at the time of booking or rebooking. Rest of the year they’re going to be horrible to you. They would gaslight and twist words around. And they will always make every complaint sound like it’s your fault. They will never take accountability for anything they do wrong. It can be extremely toxic. it’s cheap but you will be looking out to buildings outside your window like you’re looking from inside of well. If you are claustrophobic and not like looking at the walls right outside your window. I would not recommend this place.. you also need to be careful because some rooms have a garage in front of them that makes it very loud and some rooms have the train station in front of her that also makes them very loud and inconvenient. Other rooms have buildings in front of them. pretty much no room gets proper sunlight to be honest.
Such friendly staff members and maintains is always quick and efficient
The staffs are lovely and so welcoming. The whole team are great, from the reception to maintenance, they are approachable and always help. This is why I am renewing my stay for next year with them.

Come into the reception almost every single day for a conversation with the staff cause I love them so much! I can’t wait to stay here again next year as I have booked the same room!
Everyone in the team at IQ Bangor is very nice and deserves a big bonus !
Amezing stuff always helping and making the best atmosphere as posible
I really like the IQ team, but lord I had the dirtiest flatmate. Her room would stink every time she showered, she left her duty food in the stink, with her plates and would lie that she has a special way to wash her plates. Constantly slamming the door. The best way to deal with such creatures is to leave whatever they leave in the sink on the front of their doors. But everything else was amazing just some people are not home trained at it shows.
Matt, Lauren, Steph, Andy, I love y’all so much. You guys make my life so easy and I love talking to you all in the morning, afternoon, anytime really. If you come here I suggest getting to know your flatmates, they make everything 100 times better. The rooms are clean, staff are welcoming and attentive, the social spaces are wonderful, and the service is phenomenal. Anyone that has an issue with the social spaces [you’re antisocial] or if they don’t clean enough, [you’re just dirty, clean yourself sometimes smh.] or the staff are rude, [it’s gotta be you cause how. They are so nice. 😭] You WILL enjoy your time. And your experiences. Take it easy! They make Uni easy. (P.S Matt is too posh for his own good ☺️.) - ET and Unicornhorn enthusiast ❤️
Excellent customer service and lovely staff, however perhaps should reconsider banning students who are disrespectful, nasty or rude from rebooking.
I have loved staying here, the staff are amazing! They do everything to help and make the stay pleasnt. I would definately reccomend to a friend. If anything breaks It's fuxed in under a day. The only downside is if you have messy flatmates and they don't clean up after themselves. It's very hard to report them properly or get something done about it.
Its better than a lot of places and value for money but could again have improvements
It is a nice place just that the cost is too high for the standard given. The rooms are somewhat small and small furnitures. Despite the high amount of rent, laundry services are not made available free of charge.
Bit pricey but En-suite rooms are nice thanks to big bed and big desk Plus a nice view. (dependant on the room) Flat kitchens come with Sofas and TV plus small dinning area with stools making it a nice and sociable space, (recommend chipping in with flatmates for a smart tv stick) Cleaning of your own room and flat kitchen is left to you, so I hope you get lucky with flatmates that agree to work together or to a schedule :)
Friendly staff and nice flats. The location is on a main road which is slightly bad as it can be often loud.
Very close, big, everything needed in one place. Supermarket next door
Very helpful staff, 24/7 support, flexible and will keep parcels or anything safe for you if needed.
Ty Willis has its advantages. The staff are really friendly and helpful. It however makes you feel quite isolated.
Excellent service and joyful staff. Wonderful overall experience
Really kind and helpful staff, lots of events. Feel safe living here
I love this place, so nice and clean. Rooms are well designed and kitchen with latest cooking tools. We can enjoy our spare time in common room playing pool ps5 movies etc. Overall my experience is fantastic here.
Very welcoming and friendly environment. A home away from home! :)
Really worth my session stay, they have enough facility to support my educational, emotional and social life...
Perfect place to meet people and socialise. Perfect experience from Matthew and Lauren.
Matt, Lauren, Andy, Steph, Barry and Ian are lovely and welcoming. They're endlessly patient and accommodating with new and innovative ideas; it feels like you're renting from your friends! Every issue is dealt with promptly and you're constantly kept in the loop.
So far everything are great but the internet could be improve more. During the morning like 6-7 the Wi-Fi will be not able to use it
Lauren and Waqas are absolute angels, they've been lovely and helpful throughout my IQ experience. They have collectively went above and beyond the call of duty while making IQ an incredibly friendly space. Not only has Lauren been so accommodating to myself but everyone else I've seen her interact with. Lauren really gives the place an amazing positive vibe
Had an awesome year at Ty Willis and the accommodation by far beats other student halls in Bangor (or which cost the same or more). Shoutout to Lauren and Barry for being incredibly helpful and friendly. They really made me and my flat mates feel at home.
Great accommodation for all students, especially had a good experience as a 4th years students as more options of how many people to share with, had the security of a student flat but lots more independence etc as an older student. Exceptional staff, reception staff and maintenance staff all very friendly and helpful and welcoming. Very ideal location next to 2 supermarkets, 10/15 minute walk to pontio and main arts, close to train station and high street also. Very good price, nice clean modern room with everything bc we needed. Only issue was one fridge freezer and one hob was a bit of a struggle to share/find space for 5 students to share, but overall good kitchen space.
I really like Ty accommodation due to the warm reception and caring staff especially Lauren. She makes living here enjoyable.
My stay so far has been very good, Lauren at front desk is always so welcoming and Barry who checked me in has been great at solving any issues that I've had so far with coming to a new city
The staff are brilliant and are always welcoming and friendly. They make the place feel like home.
Honestly just the best accommodation there is and what made it different from others are the staff. Andrew and Lauren made everything better and convenient, without them I wouldn’t have chosen iQ.
I will be thankful if there are seats and an extra ashtray in the smoking area rather than standing for smoking.
Absolutely perfect postgraduate experience. Reception staff go above and beyond at any time possible. Had the feeling that I would not get the same experience anywhere else.
Ty Willis is an excellent place to live while studying. It is modern, clean and located in the perfect location right by the train station and on the High Street.
The place is very cozy and comfortable with all staff, Lauren in particular, making you feel at home straight away
I stayed in iQ for the first two semesters of this year. Although we left early due to personal circumstances the experience was still okay. I think that any other year where you don’t have to do everything inside it would’ve been great but due to covid we had to isolate here twice, back to back. The rooms all being the same and lack of outdoor space is really hard during isolation but the management team were great and really helped us out. Lauren was always happy to help us with any issues and went above and beyond. Plus she’s just a lovely person in general and always remembered our names when we came to reception (even if that was just because we had a lot of post). Pavo (or maybe Bavo) was really lovely too and was a huge help one night when we needed the emergency services. Overall, I’d recommend staying here in a normal year but if you are coming to Bangor during covid then maybe try find somewhere with outdoor space. Please give the iQ Bangor team a raise, they’re legends!
Ty Willis is by far the best student Accomodation in Bangor! Spacious rooms, very clean, great value for money and always plenty of social activities going on (even in covid times we had virtual movie nights!). The staff are very helpful, always responding swiftly to any maintenance issues (the maintenance man Barry is also a legend). And Lauren on the front desk is so helpful and welcoming! Nothing is too much trouble, she goes above and beyond on all issues and she always greets you with a smile! Loved my time here in Ty Willis! Can’t wait to come back in September!
I've lived in Bangor for five years and this is by far the best accommodation I've stayed in. The staff are the main highlight for me, who are lovely people and always had the time for a little convo. Any problems we had with our hob, fridge etc. were sorted within a day of us telling them too. It's difficult to judge the social experience due to corona (I know that they used to throw parties with free alcohol and pizza), but the staff still put activities on when they could, like a pancake flipping competition (with prizes) on shrove Tuesday and a free pizza day towards the end of the year. I'll honestly miss living here and would recommend Ty Willis to any students at Bangor.
Ty willis was a lovely place to live, such an upgrade from Ffriddoed Halls
I’ve lived here for two years at university. I’ve loved every minute of it. Plenty of storage space in room and kitchens are spacious. Fantastic view all over bangor from my room. Safe secure car park. Andy, Lauren and Hannah so helpful in the reception, made my stay a lot easier during COVID. I couldn’t recommend staying here enough. Staff couldn’t help me enough.
Generally excellent. Staff have been accommodating and helpful. No general cleans for the flat which would have been appreciated. Issue with regular false fire alarms.
Excellent accommodation at a reasonable price , nice bright rooms with friendly helpful staff always willing to help .
Great spot and nice rooms. All the staff are really lovely and helpful. WiFi is the only let down as it disconnects quite regularly, but easy to reconnect
Spent the entire academic year here and really enjoyed it, rooms are a good size with plenty of room/storage for everything. Staff are fantastic and approachable, couldn’t fault anything about my time here, Happily going to stay here another year and would really recommend staying here.
Very nice rooms with a good study atmosphere to them. Really good location right on the high street with all sorts of shops nearby, and not far at all from most uni buildings. Cant say much on what it’s like here socially, but it’s a really nice building
I've lived in Ty Willis for this academic year and I've loved it! I lived in student halls last year for first year and this place has felt like such an upgrade. The price is amazing for the quality of the rooms- they're very modern with loads of storage space. The location is brilliant, it seems close to everything, it could not be better. Staff are super nice and approachable. If you've got a maintenance issue they usually respond right away. I would really recommend staying here!
the loveliest team of staff! so warm and welcoming and lots going on all the time to keep your busy and in a positive mood :)
I have had a very good experience living with Ty Willis this year, so much so I am living with them again next year. Maintenance requests were completed quick and efficiently and the staff at the front desk were very nice.
I’ve lived in ty Willis both in my first and second year and enjoyed being there. Staff were always available and super helpful. Everything was accessible and the location was perfect, as it was close to the university, as well as Asda and lidl and not too far from high street either.
The staff are amazing and will do their best to help you with any issue you may have. They have been absolutely fabulous to me and have been really helpful while I experienced mental health issues.
Really nice accommodation, staff are lovely. Willing to help with any problems. Difficult to comment on social areas and social experience as it’s lockdown and it’s all closed.
I can afford to live in a studio due to sharing with my partner but other than the expense for one person I love it. The staff are amazing, if you have issues they are fixed promptly and it’s a lovely place to live
