Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
I’ve had a generally good experience and made some friends who m be living with next year. It’s pretty clean and super easy to get help from security or the halls office.
Good up to now, I’m disabled so I’m in a accessible room and it’s be adjusted to my needs which is great.
It doesn't look verry pretty for the inside, a bit rough but it does the job, the kitchens nice and big and so is the window into it and the view is pleasant too. I was always content there
the sound proofing is horrible and it gets very cold especially in winter, but the room is a good size for what your paying
Cefn y Coed is at 15-20 minutes walking distance from the university's main building. The rooms have extra storage units and attached bathrooms with showers. The shared kitchen has all the facilities. University always organizes some events every week to socialize and make new friends. Overall I would love to choose university accommodation for post-graduation.
Accommodation is great value for money. I’ve personally experienced no issues with the accommodation here as well.
Very good value for money with regular cleaning and exceptional wifi. Very good location close to supermarkets and university buildings. Mentor support team always around to help when needed.
Cefn Y Coed was perfect for my first-time independent living situation. My flatmates were lovely and I have stuck with them for the last 3 years. although my time living here was throughout the start of covid, the experiences and amities were the same with the lack of socializing with other flats. Cleaners were fantastic which took away the stress of working about who was going to clean the kitchen each week or take the rubbish out. However, the bathrooms got a bit moldy due to how damp they were and the lack of sufficient ventilation.
The building is falling to bits and it’s not well insulated for winter. The ceiling panels have been known to fall off in the kitchen area and put together with tape
amazing, comfortable. bad washrooms and a week of poor trash service aside it is comfortable.
I was given a very nice studio, the only issue with halls is sharing a kitchen and people often don't keep it clean.

Room could do with some plaster covering the bricks. Wi-Fi is generally strong and the services will come and will do extra is prompted.
Located near the campus bar and society event. Within good distance of all lecture buildings
Cefn y Coed is a great and relatively inexpensive accommodation. Everything is nearby including laundry, social common rooms, shops etc.
The halls are great well worth the money. Friendly staff which helps with even small problems. Maintenance on the halls is second to none, they fix any problem on the same day as you tell them.
They need updating. Lots of the facility broke during my stay like the fridge/freezers, taps and cupboards.
Halls were amazing! Made my best friends in their even though they weren't as nice as some of my friends halls
