Other than being old, run down and dirty, the flat is pretty nice. The location can't be beat.

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

I would recommend avoiding these halls of residence if you don't mind being a bit further from campus. Staff are good...BUT The buildings are the oldest and most in disrepair of all university provided residences. My building had a fairly unbearable leak when I moved in, which affected my room and some others nearby. The water leaked onto a windowsill which had electrical plug sockets underneath. It took 2 days for someone to "fix" the issue although the root cause did not look to be fixed. At the moment cleaning is left entirely up to the residents, even for shared facilities such as toilets, showers, and kitchens. This may differ based on which building you end up in but I am unsure. In my flat this had a negative impact as I felt some of my flatmates did not clean up after themselves sufficiently, to say the least. The internet service is fast in the evenings but slows down heavily at peak times. I paid for an increased speed but got no improvement for my money due to this.
Love my flat and the people in it, the only thing is that we don’t have a common room!
Honestly love the halls, but go for a single room. I chose to be shared, it was my first choice and I hate it. Most the girls aren’t best best friends with their roommates but the guys all get on really well. My roommate is silent, will not talk to me and is constantly in the room, she eats every meal in the room and clearly can’t eat with her mouth closed which makes it very uncomfortable for me to be in my room at all.
So close to campus, literally a 1 minute walk to the library and less than a five minute walk to all my classes so amazing location which does make it good value for money! The cleaners are so nice and come in Monday-Friday, I can’t fault the student apartments team! It is also very social as my flat is made up of 18 people split into two halves, with 2 kitchens and 5 bathrooms between us all. My only fault with the accommodation is that there isn’t a social space or common room, we just use the kitchen or hallways which are quite big but it would be nice to have a living room with sofas or something! I was put off by the fact there was no pictures or much information online but I definitely made the right choice to live here!
I didn’t get given a room and was made to stay in a hotel for 3 weeks at high cost with only a microwave and 2 mini fridges for 30+ people
