Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
It's a great accommodation. Staffs are nice, but it lacks social space and room walls are too thin.
I think it is the best accommodation, very clean and tidy, very convenient to live in and the location is excellent, very convenient to the surrounding area, metro station, schools, supermarkets, etc. It is so close. The flat management model is also very user friendly and comfortable, it's a great experience to live here! I love West Village!
It's very nice, it feels like home, and there's plenty of heating. This is the warmest place in the UK in winter.
the service and all staffs are great especially in the festivals they always held a ceremony for us. and i appreciate the facilities such as gym, laundry room are very convenient. however the wall and doors seem very thin so that i can easily hear what are my neighbors shouting, laughing or slamming the doors.
The environment is very good, the location is very good, just on the side of the road, the social space is also very convenient, there are items that need to be repaired, and the staff come to the door very quickly. It would be perfect if the Wi-Fi speed can be greatly improved
It's very close to school and very close to school. There are many supermarkets nearby, and shopping life is very convenient. The surrounding security is very good, so don't worry about safety. The staff is also very friendly
Though sometimes be annoyed by the noisy neighborhood, I love west village forever.
Great staff in daytime, but in night maybe should be improved. So far everything is nice, perfect position to study or hang out! I will recommend friend here if there is any demand.
The staff here are so helpful and the management is good in general. But the social space isn’t big enough.
clean and warm house,it has lots of event and staffs are kind
My experience at West Village has been great. The staff are so helpful, nothing is ever a hassle. Highly recommend going to Louise, her customer service is exceptional. West Village is close by to everything you’ll need, the facilities are also great. Highly recommend choosing West Village. :)
The repair staff are so helpful and so are the cleaning staff nothing is a hassle for them. There is always friendly faces and a warm smile at reception. It is very close to the school, transport and supermarket. I love west village
The staff are great, always so friendly! The location is so great as it is near the school and to the supermarket
I really enjoy living at West Village, the staffs are extremely friendly and the rooms are very good.
Here is the best location! Whether it is to arrive at the school, library, supermarket, or go to the post office, bank, or train station, West Village has provided me with extreme convenience! The staff is also very friendly, and they are very willing to communicate when helping me print materials and collect packages on my behalf!
I really like it here, the facilities are great, the location is great, the staff is responsible and it would be perfect if the wifi could be a little better
The gym, laundry room ,common room are all great! And the heating system is excellent!
The location is very good, close to the school, close to the supermarket, close to the subway station, close to the park. It's just that there is no range hood and hand shower.
The staffs are very kind and helpful, I like them, and that’s the main reason I decided to staying here for another year. The heating system may be a little not warm, hope it can be improved.
It is a very warm team. It's very close to the supermarket and it's very convenient to live here. The facilities in the room are very good and the staff are very helpful.
I'm happy to book a room in the West Village because it's very good value. The staff are very kind and patient. I feel the kindness and simplicity of the Scottish people here. The West Village is also very close to Glasgow University and the two supermarkets. It means it saves me time. Every week, the staff cleans the kitchen. They clean it very well. All in all, West Village is a very good choice for students.
The staff is very responsible, they will also hold some events from time to time, the staff is friendly and kind, their efforts make the accommodation warm and make me feel at home
I love west village and I have booked 23-24 to stay again. The staff was great and quick to solve problems.
I have been living here for two years. I also rebooked my studio for the next year. I have to admit that it's a nice place to live. The staff is friendly and willing to solve any problems you may have. Various interesting activities are held here regularly to enrich your life. If you are looking for a place to live, don't hesitate to choose here.
We love living here! I mean the reception are great and nice and helpful.all of my friends are jealous about me
It's really a nice apartment. Safe and close to school. That is a perfect choice for the students of University of Glasgow.
Spent a number of years here and had a great experience!
Very satisfied experience living in west village Glasgow! The staff here are quite friendly and funny. So I choose to still live here in the next year.
It’s a good place to live and an amazing experience
Good and comfortable, but a little bit expensive this year, and wifi sometimes not very fast. All in all, it's pretty good.
good stuff very good facility and iwill recommend to my friends and collages
This apartment is very convenient and cheap my roommates are all friendly and helpful! The stuff in the reset is very account and they always help you when you’re in trouble!
The apartment environment is great! The apartment is safe too! The room has enough storage space to store a lot of things. Kitchen facilities are also very perfect, every two weeks there are fixed staff to clean! What a relief! The most important thing is that it is close to the school and the supermarket. It is also close to the subway station and the train station
Very good dormitory, very recommended to stay, whether it is the Internet or entertainment facilities are very satisfied.
it takes ages to get ur refund, and it’s been over 3 months that my refund has not came. Payment team never reply the emails. How am I supposed to get my refund?
The address of west village is very good. It has Lidl and Morrisons that I can buy commodity very conveniently. It is also near train station and subway station. It takes me ten minutes to go to the city center by train or subway.
I live in this accommodation and feel it great. I mean the room is comfortable , and receptions are responsible and always deal with my problem. BTW I like the fitness room most. :)
The overall experience is quite good. But the internet here is not that good and is sometimes unstable. Disconnections from the internet is common. Besides, the outside of the window is not clean and looks foggy.
Great location, friendly staff, comfortable bedrooms, and a safe place for hassle free living.
The facilities always don’t work, especially the internet and the toilets.
There are movie room, activity room, gym, very good
In my opinion, West Village is in a very good location, close to supermarkets, easy to get around and very close to the University of Glasgow. It is a great choice for students to live as the accommodation. The rooms are clean and tidy. Everyone in the service is very nice.
The price-quality ratio is very high. Especially for four people ensuite. Same equipment with other ensuite but have more space on using fridge. It also has a great location and is quiet. There are many shops around West Village, and the subway and the train station is about 5 minutes' walk. The place is clean and safety, every two weeks, the staff cleans the ensuite kitchen. Although the Internet is sometimes not good, it takes 15 minutes' to the university library and learning hub. As a result, West Village is a wonderful choice for both studying and having a good life.
West village is a best accommodation for students. It’s very convenience and near to get to shops, railways and the school. Many amazing activities will hold on in west village, concluding yoga class, photography competition, Instagram Asian cuisine competition, etc., which makes us have a more wonderful after-school life. There are also a lot of welfare activities, you can get free bubble tea! Living in the West Village was a great experience!
There are good and bad. First of all, it is undeniable that the heating in the West Village is adequate, the room is not humid, and the room is very warm. Second, the location of West Village is very good, and it is very convenient to go anywhere. The downside is that the water heater is not very useful and cannot be heated to the proper temperature. I told the reception desk about repairs, and repairs were not carried out in time.
The staff on the reception are very nice and kind. And the the clean of public area is also very great. However, maybe the wifi and light system of each room should be improved.
An enjoyable living experience.
The location is very good, the staff is very friendly and the interior of the apartment is very clean.
The accommodation is very convenient and the facilities are very good and the apartments are very safe and there are a number of activities that you can attend and it's a very nice stay experience and I love it
The room is clean. The reception is very helpful. I recommend this accommodation.
jenerally very good. It is quiter than west view. and it is also near the shops like morrison and lidl. if cheaper, it will be better hahaha
A fun place to live. As a postgraduate students I am very happy with my room location (corridor with 4 rooms) because of how quiet it is. I would have preferred a few more opportunities to meet people through the term as I have not met or spoken to any other tenants
I enjoyed my time at west village, my flatmates are lovely and it’s in prime location for the uni! Slow internet at times
West Village has been a good place to live for first year - great location and nice flats, I would recommend it to prospective students.
The accommodation itself is a very comfortable and safe environment and the rooms and flats are great value for money.
The acormafstion is good but the building is too old and small. Too small and not worth the money compared to other big cities in the world.
they cancelled the printing service first, then cancelled the reception including delivery service in the pandemic period, whereas other student apartments did not. Very bad soundproofing, I can't fall asleep without closing the window. Some staffs are friendly, but sometimes they are not responsible at all: There are many cases of deliveries stolen in the mail room, but they did not assist any help. Anyway, very high price, low quality of service.
Covid-19: Not at all. They cancelled the reception including delivery service in the pandemic period, which is the most important thing for us in Covid-9 period, whereas other student apartments did not cancel.
What I like most about WV is that the staff here are very, very, very fabulous. They are very friendly and kind and willing and able to help you with almost everything. You will see them greet with smiles anytime, anywhere. Living in WV, whether you choose to take a taxi, park your own car, or take the subway is very convenient. My favourite supermarkets, Lidl and Tesco, are both within five minutes' walk. You don't even have to worry about getting wet in the rain. Other supermarkets, if you like, such as Morrisons and Sainsbury's are also very close. Chinese restaurants and Chinese supermarkets are on your way home from college or library. Ummm...right the only thing is that if you like, as I do, binge-watching dramas or playing computer games, staying at home is not a good choice. Because usually when everyone is at home, the internet speed in your room, believe me, will definitely pit your teammates. Definitely WV can get an A. And I chose to stay with them next academic year till
Place is very secure and the security staff are very helpful. Printing resources are extremely useful and one of the best assets of this place. Reception staff are also helpful, however it was quite complex making arrangements for a contract renewal as staff were trying to persuade us to book a room for a longer period, even though we explained our circumstances of not wanting to get into more debt.
The network speed is very unstable and sometimes very slow and can not connect, overall very comfortable housing experience, but I'm sure you can do better!
Although sometimes the facility in the room may not work, all the service provided by Reception and social parties, public spaces are great. The location of West Village is also good! neat to three supermarkets and many restaurants. All I can say is, West Village is excellent!
Everything is perfect, but the Internet is slow. The staff organize a lot of activities, they are very nice.
The space of the study room is not enough in the peek of the review period. And the power of exhaust fan in the kitchen is insufficient therefore the fumes from the kitchen won't escape sometimes.
The bins have not been collected for over a month and there’s rats on the complex.
The location is very good. The staff are very nice. It is really convenient to live in Westvillage. But sometimes I could not get the wifi.
Living at West Village is a great choice. The studio room is spacious, very warm and in very good condition. Staff are so friendly and helpful. There are plenty social spaces too. Occasionally the wifi slows down a bit but usually it resolves itself. Also the rubbish occasionally builds up but usually it is cleared quickly. 5* recommend this accommodation.
I am really satisfied nearly everything in West Village. The staff are very friendly and the events held by West Village are also very interesting. But the quality of WIFI is a little poor that I sometimes can not receive the signal. And the staff are very busy, so they always cannot solve my problem in time even though I have already complete the table 3 times.
It is really good choice to live in West Village. I promise I will recommend my friends to live here!
Seems some time the Internet is not so good.
It’s convenient to live here, very close to subway, supermarket and shops. But, if the WiFi speed can be faster, it will be better.
My golden studio is awesome. The view is good. The room space is good too.
Good location, and good staff, but sometimes it's not very quiet
There is a point that I have to mention is the staffs are helpful and nice. I haven’t faced any big problem so far from Sep 2019
Rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. The price is also reasonable considering the quality of the accommodation, compared to other halls in the West End. Staff is really helpful and kind, always willing to help with any problems. The location is perfect, very close to Glasgow uni, shops, supermarkets, pubs, etc.
the room is clean, the location is excellent, near to the supermarket, but the wifi sometimes is slow
The hall management is good, most of the problems could be resolved in time. However, the internet or WIFI need to be improved as sometimes it can not be connected or the speed is too slow to watch online video. Common room and study space is clean and tidy, but it is a little bit narrow during the final exam period.
A great place with ideal location and hall managent. It takes about 12 minutes to the university and 5 minutes to nearby supermarkets. And the staffs are all friendly and responsible. But sometimes the network speed is not very quickly. I wish it could be improved.
I am a UofG student who has started living at West Village in September 2019. The most advantageous part is that it is very close to the subway and at a walking distance to the uni. You always feel part of the uni community. There are several supermarkets around at a 5 mins walking distance, which turned out to be super-important. The staff, especially regarding the maintenance and cleaning of kitchens and common places, do an excellent job, and I see the facilities are being taken care of on a daily basis. The reception is open 24/7 and I always feel like having someone to seek support, and my parcels arrive at any time with a notification to me via email. The Wi-fi is just fine for Netflix and chill, fyi. One setback is that you feel pressured to work out all the time since there is a gym in the facility, as well. Still, I feel closer than ever to realize my 2020 resolution of having a great beach body, and the common garbage bins of the buildings should be put to a secluded place.
Basically almost all of your equipment is of high quality, just two small things I think maybe you have to improve, that are the common room and the accommodation’s gym. If there were more tables to play ball games or more space to support social events that would be great in our common room. Additionally, the gym is not so satisfying and sometimes I have to go there at midnight to aviod lots of people. This is my personal idea and I really enjoy living here because all of your stuffs are so nice.
It’s comfortable and convenient to live, kitchen clean always refresh the flat. However, the location makes it a little bit dangerous to across the street
in my opinion West Village is the best student hall you can find if you are studying at the University of Glasgow.
i like west village very much. i will be staying next year.
I've enjoyed my time at West Village this year. Staff are really nice and they really listen to your suggestions. Lots of international students especially from asia, so making friends can be quite hard. Luckily I made some at my classes.
my room is really good. i especially love the size of the bathroom.
very good accommodation and good value for money
I've been staying at West Village for two years now and I'm really happy here. The room is good and most importantly quiet!!
the people are very nice but there is always rubbish everywhere. it is very dirty.
Staff are really friendly, always willing to help if I have any questions or problems. I would recommend staying here.
very nice and friendly survice^-^
Living here is a lovely experience, the room is spacious and the kitchen has the necessary facilities needed. The staff here are extremely welcoming and a joyful bunch. I regularly have pleasant chats with them. At times the internet connection can be wonky, though, that last for a short while. I will be living here next year as the place is close to all the amenities.
I live here since September and the heating is bad. Never does it wprk EVER! No hot water now for weeks. DO NOT LIVE HERE. THE STAFF DO NOT CARE EVER!!!!!!
Staff are really lovely, they helped me a lot with my contract problem. I look forward to staying next year!!
Location is really good, close to uni, subway and the supermarket. Staff are friendly most of the time. As others have said, the wi-fi and bins can be a problem but I would still stay here again next year.
I would recommend downing, the accommodation is good and the staff are friendly. It's really good for deliveries, I like being able to get my parcel whenever i want. However the bins are a big problem. It seems there is always lots of waste and all the bins are full, its not good enough!
i relly enjoyed my time at west village. staff are very nice and my room was good, i would recommend it.
Can't recommend it enough. No accommodation is perfect but the staff at West Village are always there to help when things go wrong. Im staying again next year :)
i am very satisfied with my accommodation at west village.
CREPES! Great team, great room and always have cool events going on. Thanks guys!
Really love summer treat day!!! What's better than free crepes? so cool that the staff put this on :).
Forget to say the wi-fi not so good some times. but staff and janitor and also Duncan very friendly
Loved live at West village. Staff very good. Cecilia so nice. Lovely place to live
I had several problems with this accommodation since arrival. When I first arrived the flat was not clean staff were unhelpful and always too busy. Leaving West Village now and my overall experience was good, got to know many of the staff and made friends. I would stay again but think it is expensive for the quality they provide.
Lovely staff. Family feeling. Cecelia always support me and my friends. Feel welcome always! Thank you so much all
Living at West Village was an amazing experience! Totally recommended! Facilities are of high quality, value of money and staff always here to help! Especially, Duncan (one of the managers) was extremely helpful anytime!!
I've enjoyed my time at West Village. Room size is good and the staff are really friendly. Wi-Fi can be hit and miss and there's not enough study rooms but I would stay again.
Mr Duncan is very helpful and assisted me with my contract problem. Thank you!
Really good accommodation, great staff. Would recommend it.
Good accommodation, nice staff and amazing location. Really convenient for food shopping + trains.
Great location for uni and getting around Glasgow, train and underground stations within 5 minutes of room. Has a gym included in basement that's handy and the lady manager is awesome. They also put on student nights had pizza and learned how to make cocktails. Would definitely stay again or recommend to friends and family!
I've stayed at West Village for 3 years now. Staff are always good and the room is a good size. Common room is looking old but am still staying for my final year anyway.
Checking out of my room at west village for Summer. The building is looking a bit old in places but the staff are really friendly and the location is great. Would recommend if you're looking for a room in Glasgow.
Really enjoyed my stay with West Village. Accommodation is a good quality, staff are really friendly and down-to-earth, parcel collection is really convenient. Lots of Chinese students but they're all really polite and friendly, so didn't bother me.
Such a superb student accommodation.
Boring halls, weird flatmates, management that doesn't really listen to complaints, and the wifi is shockingly bad
