It’s among the cheapest student accommodations in Edinburgh so you wont‘t get the glamour of Pollock. There is no common room but the kitchen in your apartments are quite big so you can hang out with the people there very well. There is cleaning once a week which is not really enough unless everyone is super-clean which is unlikely. I personally did not know anyone really outside my flat but there were some parties where people in the accommodation would meet up and hang out generally. There are two washers and two dryers. Its right on Cowgate so it‘s quite noisy outside at night but you get used to it. It is an old building so its quite moist so you have to be careful that you air out your rooms so there is no mould (my flatmate had mould in her room).

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

TOO NOISY, CAN'T SLEEP AT NIGHT.I HAD TO CHANGE ACCOMMODATION. WOULDN'T RECOMMEND
Pretty standard flats with nice and clean kitchens/ bathrooms / bedrooms but not super modern or anything. Common room non-existent and we supposedly share with Kincaids except our key doesn't work in the door. Generally pretty unsociable - Kincaids is way better that way. 5 minutes from everywhere. Noisy at night unless you go out.
It's very central but can be noisy.
College wynd is only good as if you want to stumble in hive only a few hundred meters away. The mice are fairly good company, hot water is a rarity and you'll always have a least one thing broken. Save yourself.
College Wynd is in an amazing location, close to uni and also the clubs. It's cheap and usually very well kept. I did not find it a very sociable hall - the flats are small and don't seem to integrate much. However, it is directly opposite kincaids court, which has a large common room free to use.
