The rooms are quite big for the price. Overall, for the cheapest ensuite definitely worth it. As for the facilities, the shower will not get hot or stay consistently hot for more than a minute. I believe these are getting replaced this summer. Pretty much every toilet seat in my flat has broken off so far this year. Haven't seen any mice or anything though. Cleaners are nice, but lock each bedroom door once they leave (one time I got my keys locked in my room and had to pay a £20 fine for two men to come unlock it because the RA's master key didn't work). Kitchen gets smelly quick and it does not leave, so it's quite stuffy. The heater has a burning smell and emits dust. Lights in the stairwell are all out, and we live on the fourth floor with no lift, so it's very dark. Only two washers and dryers for 90 people. Good location though- close to old and new town. 15 minute walk to main campus. My window looks directly into other flats tho, can't even see the sky.

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

The terrible experience I am having here is a direct result of how little the accom admin seem to care about their residents. Upon moving in multiple things were broken in my room including the lights and heater (shower is lukewarm at best too). You have to pull teeth just to get someone to fix your heater. We pay a premium to live in this terrible accommodation, and that cost is supposed to include heating. The walls are incredibly thin, you can hear the slightest noise in another flat and within your own. The doors slam. The fire alarms go off at odd times, sometimes shutting off after a few seconds with no further explanation, presumably a malfunction. Also, I don't think this is mentioned anywhere online, there is no elevator so please be cautious if you are in any way unable to climb stairs. The only positive about this accommodation is the location; situated a few feet from a Tesco, very close to the Royal Mile, uni gym, Prince's St, & George Square. Not the safest location.
Everything is fine, except the flooding. So often. The plumbing is bad and they refuse to do anything about it except telling people to shower less frequently. Water comes through the lights, the walls, everywhere - it even goes into the Tesco downstairs. And what do they do? Temporary fixes that last a month at most. Otherwise, it's fine.
Worst place I've ever lived. Would rather be on the streets some days
Do not live here. The en-suites are badly designed, with rusty fixtures and moldy walls. The shower does not drain properly, leaving standing water, and the ground floor flats do not have a lip in the shower to prevent water from getting on the floor. None of us have fans, with fire alarms in each room that are tripped by steam. My flatmate set it off multiple times, and the advice was to keep the window open (even in winter). My toilet leaks constantly, first rust water, now just puddles whenever it is flushed. My room overlooks a noisy, dim close. My window is covered by a metal grate preventing what little natural light from coming in. There are people constantly parking in front of my window. And when it isn't them, it is people on their smoke break, or loud groups drinking together leaving trash on my windowsill.
You're better off sleeping on the streets, honestly
Absolute s******. Building has a mice problem and you will have them in your kitchen regardless of cleanliness. Property is severely mismanaged. Have had a fridge break and maintenance has told us there's nothing they can do about it even though that's their job. Shower has broken twice. The washing machine in the kitchen is false advertisement and the building is run-down. Appliances are all out-dated and the stove trips the circuit constantly. The bathroom cleaning schedule is mismanaged to the point where your fortnightly cleaning is sometimes a monthly cleaning. Our regular cleaner is kind, but we've been scolded by others for bathroom cleanliness when they've failed to show for their previously scheduled job. Management police you on every little thing despite failing to provide adequate living conditions on their end. For less than what accommodation charges, you can find a better room in a nicer flat in Marchmont or Bruntsfield. Absolutely do not waste your money on this dump.
Absolute s*******. Serious mouse problem that is never properly addressed, gates are not secure, 2 washers and dryers on the bottom floor for all 90+ residents to share. Very poorly managed...you'd be better off living on the streets
quite far from main campus, at least 20 mins walking up the hill.
Convenient location, decent interior. Satisfactory cleaning services
No reception, no community spaces, only 2 washing machines and so many issues.
