what is a double room en suite? Does it mean I am sharing a room? I requested a single room. if I am sharing what are the odds of being able to change to a single once I am there..?

It means you have a double bed. British uni accommodation is hardly ever shared - they make it really, really obvious if you have to share a room with someone and it would be much cheaper than this.
